158: Visit the night market
Lu Chen smiled and nodded in thanks, elegantly bringing the fish to his mouth, praising, "It is indeed delicious."
Luo Qingchen watched Yu Miaoyin's solicitous attention to Lu Chen, and the jealousy and anxiety in her heart surged like a tide, making her blurt out, "I want some too."
Yu Miaoyin paused slightly, curiously glanced at her Senior Sister, then smiled, a hint of playfulness in her eyes: "Senior Sister, haven't you always disliked eating fish?"
Luo Qingchen's face was stern, and her tone was a bit stiff as she said, "I like it now."
Yu Miaoyin pursed her lips and smiled, her smile like the warm sun in spring, gentle and soft.
She picked up another piece of fish, carefully placed it in Luo Qingchen's bowl, and softly said, "Alright, then I'll add one for you too."
Luo Qingchen looked at the fish in her bowl, and the dissatisfaction in her heart eased slightly.
The three of them each bowed their heads and ate, occasionally conversing, the atmosphere seemingly harmonious, but in reality, undercurrents surged.
Luo Qingchen occasionally looked at Yu Miaoyin and Lu Chen, her eyes filled with vigilance and discontent.
Yu Miaoyin, however, was immersed in conversation with Lu Chen, her smile radiant.
Lu Chen always maintained a gentle smile, handling everything with ease.
After eating for a while, everyone was full. The three of them got up, packed their things, and prepared to leave.
Yu Miaoyin skipped ahead, with Lu Chen and Luo Qingchen following behind, neither of them speaking.
Upon reaching the restaurant's main hall, Lu Chen looked at Luo Qingchen and said with a half-smile, "Aren't you going to pay?"
Luo Qingchen's mouth twitched slightly. It wasn't that she begrudged the money; she just didn't want Yu Miaoyin and Lu Chen to be alone.
So, she looked at Yu Miaoyin and said, "How about you come with me?"
Yu Miaoyin blinked her big, watery eyes and asked with a puzzled expression, "Why do two people need to go to pay?"
Luo Qingchen forced a smile and said, "I'm afraid they'll rip me off."
Yu Miaoyin sighed softly, a helpless smile on her face: "Oh, Senior Sister, you're a person from such a big company. Just go quickly, I'll wait for you here."
Luo Qingchen still wanted to say something, but when she saw Lu Chen's meaningful gaze, she immediately shut her mouth.
She thought to herself, nothing should happen in such a short time, so she sighed helplessly and turned to pay.
After Luo Qingchen left, Lu Chen looked at Yu Miaoyin, a gentle smile on his face, and said, "There's a very lively night market in Yanjing City. Would you like to go stroll around?"
Yu Miaoyin's eyes immediately lit up, like stars twinkling in the night sky. She excitedly said, "Great! After Senior Sister comes back, let's call her to come with us."
Lu Chen smiled, a hint of deeper meaning in his eyes: "No need to call her. Your Senior Sister is already very busy during the day; let her rest early tonight."
Yu Miaoyin thought about it carefully, felt that Lu Chen made sense, and nodded, saying, "Alright, then when Senior Sister comes back, I'll tell her."
A moment later, Luo Qingchen returned after settling the bill. She looked at Yu Miaoyin and said, "Let's go home together."
Yu Miaoyin, however, shook her head and said, "Senior Sister, you go back first. I'm going to walk around a bit more."
Luo Qingchen immediately frowned and subconsciously looked at Lu Chen. Lu Chen shrugged, looking like "it's none of my business."
Luo Qingchen glared at Lu Chen, then looked at Yu Miaoyin, and said earnestly, "It's so late, it's too dangerous outside. Let's just go home."
Yu Miaoyin smiled, her eyes full of confidence: "Senior Sister, are you still worried about that? Don't worry, it's very safe. Don't you trust my strength?"
Luo Qingchen secretly grumbled in her heart: Safe my ass, the most dangerous person in the entire Yanjing City is right beside you.
But seeing Yu Miaoyin's enthusiastic look, she couldn't bring herself to dampen her spirits, so she could only instruct, "Then remember, if anything happens, you must call me."
Yu Miaoyin nodded obediently and said, "Okay, I understand."
Only then did Luo Qingchen leave, looking back every few steps.
After she left, Yu Miaoyin and Lu Chen walked towards the parking lot, got in the car, and drove towards the lively night market.
The car slowly drove into the street where the night market was located, and before it had even fully stopped, Yu Miaoyin eagerly opened the car door, her eyes sparkling with curiosity and excitement.
The night market was bustling, with colorful lights intertwined, like a dreamy ocean.
The vendors' calls rose and fell, the aroma of various delicacies wafted through the air, mixing with the joyful laughter of the crowd, forming a lively picture full of life.
As soon as she got out of the car, Yu Miaoyin was like a cheerful little bird, flitting through the bustling crowd.
Her gaze was drawn to the street-side stalls full of dazzling small ornaments; every little trinket filled her with novelty.
She stopped in front of a stall hung with handmade woven bracelets, extended her slender fingers to gently caress the colorful bracelets, her eyes full of affection.
The vendor enthusiastically introduced the features of each bracelet, and Yu Miaoyin listened with great interest, occasionally picking up a bracelet to try on her wrist, her face radiating a pure smile.
"Lu Chen, do you think this bracelet looks good?" Yu Miaoyin held up a bracelet made of blue beads, showing it to Lu Chen, her eyes sparkling with anticipation.
Lu Chen smiled and nodded, gently saying, "It looks good, it suits you very well."
Yu Miaoyin happily paid, put the bracelet on her wrist, and even deliberately shook her wrist to make the bracelet sparkle charmingly under the lights.
They continued to walk, stopping again at a stall filled with exquisite hairpins.
Yu Miaoyin picked up a wooden hairpin carved with a plum blossom design, held it against her hair, and turned to ask Lu Chen, "Do I look good with this on?"
Lu Chen observed her carefully, an appreciative look in his eyes, and said, "You look good, you look good in anything."
Yu Miaoyin's cheeks flushed slightly. She gently put down the hairpin and continued to browse forward.
Along the way, she was interested in every stall, looking at cute plush toys one moment, touching exquisite ceramic ornaments the next; every new thing brought her endless surprises.
After browsing for quite a while, both of them were a bit tired.
They came to an ancient tree, beneath which was a row of steps, surrounded by various potted plants, adding a touch of vitality to this corner.
Countless colorful light strips were wrapped around the branches, the lights twinkling like stars dotted in the night sky.
A gentle breeze blew, the leaves swayed softly, and the lights also flickered, casting a faint halo, like pieces of jade.
Yu Miaoyin and Lu Chen sat side by side on the steps, enjoying this moment of peace and beauty.
Yu Miaoyin's face was filled with a satisfied smile. She looked up at the lights on the tree, her eyes full of enchantment.
"It's so beautiful here. I've never been to such an interesting place," Yu Miaoyin said softly, a hint of emotion in her voice.
Lu Chen looked at her, his eyes full of tenderness, and said, "As long as you like it, I'll bring you here often in the future."
Yu Miaoyin turned her head, looked at Lu Chen gratefully, and was about to say something.
But then she saw Lu Chen suddenly sigh, and the expression on his face became somewhat serious.
"What's wrong?" Yu Miaoyin paused slightly, then turned to face Lu Chen, asking with concern, "Is something the matter?"
Lu Chen hesitated, a hint of worry flashing in his eyes, and said,
"There's a bad thing, I just found out, and after much thought, I decided to tell you."
