101: Chapter 11 The Land Where Gods Fell!
He glanced at the caller ID; it was Xiao Wanguo.
"Hello, Officer Xiao, is something the matter?"
Xiao Wanguo's voice came through the communicator.
"Lu Yin, are you at the academy? Commander Ye asked me to bring you something, saying it would be useful to you."
"Commander Ye?"
Lu Yin was stunned for a moment, then he remembered Ye Fenghua, Commander's promise to let him exchange five million Military Merits for soul-related materials.
"I'm at the academy. Let's meet at my dormitory," he replied quickly.
"Alright, I'll head over now."
Hanging up the phone, Lu Yin hurried back to the Gods Dormitory.
A soul fragment of a fallen deity—this was something he had been thinking about for a long time.
He had originally thought that it would be difficult to obtain such a precious item through an application.
Even if the higher-ups received Commander Ye's request, they would likely have to review it for a long time.
He hadn't expected them to be so efficient.
Not only was the application approved, but they even had a Major General deliver it to him in person.
Not long after he returned to the dormitory, there was a knock at the door.
Opening the door, he saw Xiao Wanguo standing there in a crisp military uniform, holding an exquisite metal box in his hands.
"Lu Yin, Commander Ye specifically instructed me to deliver this."
"Since it required me to come in person, I wonder what kind of treasure is inside?"
Lu Yin took the box; it felt slightly heavy in his hands.
Complex runes were engraved on the surface of the box, and he could faintly sense the powerful energy fluctuations contained within.
He invited Xiao Wanguo inside, his face showing a hint of excitement.
"Officer Xiao, thank you for making the trip, and please thank Commander Ye on my behalf."
"The item in this box is indeed of great value to me."
Xiao Wanguo's gaze lingered on Lu Yin for a moment before he suddenly looked surprised. "You... you've already completed your first turn?"
Lu Yin nodded. "Just finished."
Xiao Wanguo gasped. "It's only been two days... and you've actually leveled up so many times?!"
"What rank was your Class Advancement Certificate?"
Seeing that Lu Yin had completed his class advancement, Xiao Wanguo even forgot his curiosity about the contents of the box for a moment.
"God-rank Certificate."
Lu Yin said indifferently.
A flash of shock crossed Xiao Wanguo's eyes, but he quickly regained his composure, though his tone carried a hint of emotion.
"A God-rank Certificate... no wonder Commander Ye values you so much."
"It seems our Celestial Empire is truly about to produce an extraordinary figure."
Lu Yin smiled slightly and didn't respond, instead focusing his full attention on the metal box in his hands.
He gently opened the lid, revealing a black velvet lining inside, upon which lay a fragment emitting a faint blue glow.
The fragment was only about the size of a palm and irregularly shaped.
Its surface was covered in fine patterns, as if it contained some kind of ancient wisdom.
Most amazingly, the space around the fragment seemed to be slightly distorted, and faint, ethereal whispers could be heard.
Lu Yin held his breath; he could feel the powerful soul energy contained within the fragment.
[soul fragment of a fallen deity 1/5]
[Use: Unknown]
Looking at the item information for the fragment, there were only the simple words: "Unknown."
Judging by the name, there were clearly five of these fragments.
To discover its true purpose, one would have to collect all five fragments.
But without any clues, gathering all five was as difficult as ascending to heaven.
That was why, even with the military's many talents, they had never been able to crack its secret.
"A soul fragment of a fallen deity..."
"Is this what Commander Ye asked me to bring?"
Xiao Wanguo also looked at the box, a look of surprise on his face.
"Do you know anything about this fragment, Officer Xiao?"
Lu Yin looked up at Xiao Wanguo.
Xiao Wanguo carefully examined the faint blue fragment, his expression becoming solemn.
"This fragment was reportedly discovered in an Ancient Ruins, found alongside several other extremely ancient items."
"But after all these years, while the other items have been thoroughly researched, this fragment remains a mystery."
"The Research Department has tried various methods, including energy injection, high-temperature smelting, and even spiritual detection."
"Yet, the fragment has never shown any reaction."
After hearing this, Lu Yin cautiously touched the surface of the fragment with his finger, and a bone-chilling cold spread from his fingertip.
More strangely, he felt as if his soul had been gently touched by something.
"Officer Xiao, I'm going to try my ability to see if I can get a reaction from it. Please protect me while I do."
Xiao Wanguo's expression turned serious, and he nodded solemnly. "Go ahead and try."
Lu Yin took a deep breath and then used his skill on the fragment.
Death Soul Extraction!
Buzz!
The moment Lu Yin activated his skill, the faint blue light suddenly surged!
The fine patterns on the surface of the fragment seemed to come alive, beginning to flow slowly.
An ancient and obscure will flooded into Lu Yin's mind like a tide.
Lu Yin's pupils contracted slightly; he felt as if his soul was being pulled into a boundless void.
Countless fragmented memories, whispers, and images flashed through his consciousness, yet they were too blurry to capture.
"It's reacting!" Xiao Wanguo watched the scene in shock.
The air around the fragment began to distort, forming visible ripples.
The whispers grew clearer, as if countless ancient beings were murmuring in his ear.
Lu Yin focused all his concentration, attempting to establish a deeper connection with the will inside the fragment.
He felt as if his soul was touching some extremely ancient and powerful existence.
The feeling was both awe-inspiring and strangely familiar.
Just then, the fragment began to vibrate violently.
The faint blue light suddenly contracted, turning into a thin thread that plunged directly into the center of Lu Yin's brow.
"Ugh!" Lu Yin groaned and took several steps back.
Xiao Wanguo hurried forward to support Lu Yin.
Lu Yin felt a vast stream of information flood his mind; he seemed to see a desolate Star Field where a giant deity's body shattered, its soul turning into five streaks of light that scattered across the universe.
"Lu Yin! Are you okay?" Xiao Wanguo's urgent voice pulled him back to reality.
Lu Yin slowly opened his eyes, a faint blue light swirling in his pupils. "I'm fine."
Xiao Wanguo released his grip on Lu Yin's arm and said with a look of shock.
"You actually managed to resonate with this fragment!"
"Quick, tell me, what information did you get?"
Lu Yin gently touched his forehead, where a trace of coldness still remained.
"I saw a shattered Star Field, a fallen deity... and the Place of Divine Fall..."
"The Place of Divine Fall..."
Xiao Wanguo's pupils shrank, and his expression became incredibly serious. "The Place of Divine Fall? That's a location I've never heard of."
"Besides that, did you gain anything else?"
"For example, the whereabouts of the other fragments?"
