129: Chapter 129 The Silver Clock!

"Good! Contract the formation! Create an opening for their damage output!"

Reno immediately commanded his team to defend with all their might, drawing the phantoms' attacks.

Lu Yin, meanwhile, summoned Krausi and ordered him to unleash a skill at the central silver clock.

"Thousand Souls Devouring Sun Arrow!"

A brilliant light flashed in Krausi's eyes. He drew his bone bow to its full extent in an instant, and an arrow wreathed in black necrotic energy took form.

*Whoosh!*

The arrow, as if condensed from ten thousand souls, left the bowstring. It shot straight towards the silver clock, carrying with it the sound of mournful wails.

*Clang!*

But just as the arrow was about to collide with the silver clock, time in the entire hall seemed to freeze for an instant.

The next second, a silvery, watery membrane of light suddenly rippled across the surface of the clock.

When the arrow struck the light membrane, it was as if it had plunged into a mire—its speed drastically reduced.

The black necrotic energy and the silvery light clashed violently, emitting a sizzling sound, yet it couldn't penetrate even a fraction.

"As expected, it has protection."

Lu Yin's gaze sharpened, and he immediately signaled for Krausi to continue attacking.

*Whoosh! Whoosh! Whoosh!*

Krausi's arrows shot towards the silver clock in rapid succession, each carrying necrotic energy capable of tearing space.

However, that layer of silvery light membrane undulated as if it had a life of its own, dissolving every attack.

"Brother Lu Yin, hurry! We can't hold on much longer!"

From the other side, Reno and the others shouted urgently.

Watching their figures struggling clumsily amidst the phantoms, Lu Yin fell into brief contemplation.

Reno and his team were definitely hiding something from them. Moreover, while they appeared extremely flustered, their eyes held no fear of failure.

From this, Lu Yin deduced that Reno and his team had very likely entered this Tower of Time before and were probably intimately familiar with this Dungeon.

"Brother Lu Yin, don't just stand there! Quickly use your skills to attack that silver clock!"

Reno's voice grew increasingly hurried, even carrying a hint of urging that was hard to detect.

While desperately blocking the longsword slashes from the ancient knight phantoms with his shield, he kept a tight watch on Lu Yin's movements from the corner of his eye.

Lu Yin instantly understood. Reno wanted to drain their skills, forcing their powerful moves into cooldown.

After all, the more powerful the move, the longer its cooldown.

And once their ultimate skills entered cooldown, the combat power of the Professionals themselves would naturally be significantly diminished during that period.

Lu Yin's gaze swept quickly between the silver clock and Reno's team, a plan already forming in his mind.

He deliberately let a touch of "urgency" show on his face and barked at Krausi, "Attack with full force!"

As the most loyal Legion Commander, Krausi naturally executed the order perfectly.

Necrotic energy surged around him, enveloping his bone bow in thick black mist.

An arrow of darkness, far more condensed than before and radiating an ominous aura, began to take shape. Its powerful energy fluctuations caused the surrounding space to warp slightly.

This strike looked astonishingly formidable, clearly a major skill requiring charging.

"Yes! That's it! Break it quickly!"

Seeing this, a flash of triumphant joy for his scheme succeeding crossed Reno's eyes.

But verbally, he urged even more urgently. The movements with which he blocked the phantom attacks also seemed to become more "vigorous," drawing the attention of most phantoms onto himself.

Aside from being unattackable, the attack power of these phantoms wasn't actually very high.

"Annihilation Judgment!"

The dark arrow condensed with terrifying necrotic energy in Krausi's hands shot towards the silver clock with a shriek that tore through the air.

Wherever the arrow passed, space seemed to be corroded, leaving behind faint black trails.

Reno stared intently at this scene, his eyes flickering with barely concealed anticipation.

*Boom!*

A deafening explosion sounded as the black arrow violently collided with the silver clock.

However, even such a ferocious strike still failed to break the silvery light membrane surrounding the clock.

"Brother Lu Yin, I feel these phantoms have clearly weakened! Do your teammates have any more powerful moves? Don't hold back now!"

Reno continued shouting, with a hint of deliberate anxiety.

"Alright. Milian, Ling Ying, quickly use your highest-damage skills to attack the silver clock."

Lu Yin nodded in reply.

Milian and Ling Ying exchanged a glance and immediately understood.

They too had seen through Reno's ulterior motives, but now was not the time to expose them.

"Feathers of Light Dance!"

Dazzling holy light erupted from Milian's body as a pair of light wings unfurled behind her.

She transformed into a streak of flowing light charging towards the silver clock. Countless feathers of light scattered and flew as she spun.

"Falcon Slash!"

Ling Ying transformed into a raptor form. Like a swift hunting falcon, her talons gleamed with a cold light as she tore through the sky, slashing fiercely towards the silver clock!

Their attacks landed on the silver clock almost simultaneously, erupting in a dazzling burst of light.

The light membrane on the silver clock's surface rippled violently, yet still stubbornly withstood all the assaults.

Under the cover of the light, the corner of Reno's mouth lifted slightly, a gleam of success flashing in his eyes.

He could see that Lu Yin and his teammates had already unleashed powerful attack skills one after another. Presumably, these ultimate moves had all entered their cooldown state.

He calculated the time in his mind, then suddenly shouted loudly.

"Brother Lu Yin, just a little more! Keep attacking, we're about to break this clock!"

"Alright!" Lu Yin pretended to play along with Reno's act, signaling Milian and Ling Ying to continue attacking.

*Boom! Boom! Boom!*

After another round of assaults, the seemingly impregnable light membrane outside the silver clock shattered with a crash.

The silver clock itself also shattered along with the light membrane.

"Success!"

Reno and his team looked delighted. The phantoms attacking them also dissipated at the same moment.

Just as everyone breathed a sigh of relief, a staircase of light extended down from the void. In front of the steps, a treasure chest slowly materialized.

"Brother Lu Yin, in Dungeons like this, we always collect the loot together first, then split it equally between the two teams after we get out."

"To show our sincerity, why don't your team hold onto the loot first?"

After a brief recovery, Reno spoke to Lu Yin and the others with a sincere smile.

A light flickered in Lu Yin's eyes. Looking at Reno's utterly earnest expression, the cold sneer in his heart grew stronger.

On the surface, however, he showed just the right amount of hesitation, then nodded as if moved by the other's sincerity.

"Since Captain Reno trusts us so much, we won't stand on ceremony."

As he spoke, he gave Milian a meaningful look.

Milian understood. She stepped forward and opened the treasure chest.

Inside was a shimmering, iridescent gem of seven colors—a stone of god.

"Haha, good luck! The reward is actually a stone of god!"

A flash of barely perceptible greed crossed Reno's eyes, but it was quickly masked by his enthusiastic smile.

"Heh, without Brother Reno bringing us here, we wouldn't have had such a bountiful harvest."

Lu Yin smiled on the surface, taking the stone of god Milian handed him.

The smile on Reno's face grew even more enthusiastic. He took a step forward, his tone hearty.

"Brother Lu Yin, let's continue exploring upwards. There must be even better treasures inside this tower!"

Lu Yin put away the stone of god and asked casually, "Captain Reno seems quite familiar with this tower?"

Reno's smile stiffened for an instant but quickly returned to normal.

"Not at all, not at all. This is our first time here too. We're just making guesses based on experience."

"Is that so?" Lu Yin smiled meaningfully and didn't press further.

The two teams walked up along the staircase of light.

Lu Yin secretly gave Milian and Ling Ying a meaningful look. The three of them tacitly slowed their pace, putting some distance between themselves and Reno's team.
