183: Chapter 183 Entering the Interior!

Early the next morning, Lu Yin boarded a flying vehicle early and headed toward the military base where the Abyssal Passage was located.

The military base was situated in the barren Gobi Desert, surrounded by towering alloy walls with a shimmering pale blue energy barrier at the top.

The aircraft slowly landed in the designated area, the hatch opened, and Lu Yin stepped out.

The person receiving him was an incredibly familiar face: Xiao Wanguo.

Since Xiao Wanguo was quite familiar with Lu Yin and was also a powerhouse in the military, he was the most suitable candidate to coordinate with Lu Yin.

Xiao Wanguo wore a crisp dark green military uniform, the general's stars on his epaulets shining brightly under the base's lighting.

His expression was serious, but when he looked at Lu Yin, a trace of imperceptible warmth flashed in his eyes.

"Lu Yin, welcome to the Seventh Frontline Base."

Xiao Wanguo took a step forward and put an arm around Lu Yin's shoulder.

"Kid, you're something else, actually clearing the Wailing Land."

Lu Yin smiled slightly. "It was just a stroke of luck."

"Tch, if luck could clear that terrifying place, the Wailing Land wouldn't have been able to plague our human race for so long."

Xiao Wanguo laughed heartily, then turned solemn. "Let's go, I'll take you to see the mission."

The two walked side by side into the depths of the base. Along the way, soldiers stood at attention and saluted, their gazes filled with awe.

Lu Yin could feel that the looks these battle-hardened warriors gave him were somewhat complex.

There was respect for a powerhouse, but also a hint of wariness toward an unknown power.

After passing through three heavy alloy gates, they arrived at a monitoring room.

Rows of monitors were embedded in the walls, transmitting real-time footage of the Abyssal Passage.

Xiao Wanguo pointed to the largest screen in the center. The image showed a twisted, dark red rift that seemed to be slowly pulsating.

Even through the screen, Lu Yin could feel that heart-palpitating abyssal aura.

"This is that Abyssal Passage," Xiao Wanguo said in a heavy tone.

"Compared to the form we monitored a month ago, it has expanded by at least thirty percent."

"Do you see those veins?"

"They are like blood vessels, and the frequency of their pulsations has been getting faster and faster recently."

Just then, the image on the screen suddenly shook violently.

The dark red veins abruptly lit up with a blinding light, and a visible ripple of dark red energy spread out from the mouth of the passage.

It slammed into the energy barrier on the base's perimeter, causing a low rumble.

Alarms blared in the monitoring room, and red lights flashed.

"It's happening again!" an operator reported nervously.

"Commander Xiao, the energy impact intensity has reached eighty percent of the threshold, and the barrier's energy consumption is increasing rapidly!"

Xiao Wanguo's expression turned grim as he turned to Lu Yin.

"See that? These unstable energy eruptions have been getting more frequent lately."

"We suspect that the existence on the other side of the passage is trying to forcibly expand it... to send something through."

Lu Yin stared at the rift on the screen, which looked like the wound of a living creature.

Aiolia inside his body let out an excited whisper.

"Can you feel it?"

"Such pure and violent abyssal power. It seems that new emperor can't wait to hunt you down."

Listening to Aiolia's words, Lu Yin focused his mind.

The expansion of the passage clearly signaled an intent to send through a demon army.

To prevent the flames of war from descending upon this planet once more, Lu Yin had to find a way to close this passage.

"I need to enter the passage," Lu Yin said calmly after watching for a while once the energy stabilized.

Xiao Wanguo frowned upon hearing this. "Now?"

"We still haven't fully determined the timing of the next energy eruption. Stepping into it randomly could be dangerous."

"I understand the risks." Lu Yin's gaze remained fixed on the screen.

"But only by entering personally can I find a way to close the passage."

Xiao Wanguo was silent for a moment before finally nodding. "Fine. I'll go arrange the follow-up matters first, and then I'll enter with you."

Soon, Xiao Wanguo had finished the relevant arrangements.

Half an hour later, the two stood before the entrance to the Abyssal Passage.

The dark red rift was several kilometers long, as if the earth itself had been torn asunder.

The rift resembled a giant mouth, emitting a suffocating abyssal aura.

He could feel the violent energy contained within, as well as a malice that was almost tangible.

"Are you ready?"

Xiao Wanguo took a deep breath. A flash of worry crossed his eyes as he looked at Lu Yin, but it was quickly replaced by determination.

Lu Yin nodded, and then the two of them stepped forward simultaneously into that dark red rift.

The moment they crossed the entrance of the passage, a powerful sensation of spatial distortion hit them.

The surrounding scenery shattered like a broken mirror, then reassembled into a hair-raising sight.

The interior of the passage was not the tunnel they had imagined, but a twisted, dark red space.

Countless dark red veins writhed around them like living things, emitting low pulsations as if they were inside the organs of some massive creature.

The air was thick with a heavy, nauseating scent of blood.

"The spatial rules here are distorted."

Xiao Wanguo gripped the military locator in his hand tightly, looking around warily.

"Our positioning system has completely failed."

Lu Yin reached out and lightly touched a dark red vein hanging from above.

The vein jerked back the moment he touched it, emitting a dull sound like a heartbeat.

"These veins... are absorbing energy."

Lu Yin narrowed his eyes. "The entire passage is expanding in a way we cannot understand."

"Absorbing energy?" Xiao Wanguo's expression grew solemn. "Could it be..."

"Exactly," Lu Yin nodded.

"The existence on the other side of the passage is using this method to forcibly tear through space and expand the scale of the passage."

Just then, a low roar came from the distance.

The sound seemed to come from the deepest part of the abyss, filled with a primal and violent aura.

"Something is coming." Xiao Wanguo immediately entered a combat stance, the spear in his hand letting out a slight hum.

Lu Yin also stood on guard, energy slowly circulating within his body.

He could feel something rapidly approaching.

Suddenly, several dark shadows burst out from the dark red mist ahead.

They were twisted creatures with human-like silhouettes.

However, their bodies were covered in dark red chitin, and their eyes burned with pale blue flames.

The moment those twisted creatures pounced, Lu Yin and Xiao Wanguo moved simultaneously.

The spear in Xiao Wanguo's hand erupted with a blinding silver light, the tip slicing through the dark red space and tracing a sharp arc.

Wherever the wind from the spear passed, the dark red veins trembled violently as if sensing a threat.

The silver light exploded, and the attacking creature let out a shrill scream, dissipating into dark red mist.

But even more twisted creatures swarmed from all directions, the pale blue flames in their eyes burning even more intensely, as if they had been enraged.
