163: Traitor becomes hero

Li Haotian watched all of this with cold eyes, a faint, imperceptible smile playing on the corner of his mouth before he turned to look at his Disciple, who was still standing in place.

"Bang!"

A sound rang out, and Du Xian slowly collapsed face-first; he had been knocked unconscious by a slap.

The Foreign Races suffered heavy losses this time. Nearly 80 Shadow Clan Powerhouses infiltrated the city, only to be instantly killed by a Great Emperor Powerhouse's decisive strike, without even a chance to escape.

If they had immediately transformed into shadows and fled upon sensing the anomaly, they might have actually escaped. Unfortunately, they turned into dust before they could even figure out what was happening.

"Since that's the case, I'll leave this guy to you. I hope you can help us."

Li Haotian looked at Luo Xiaoxiao very seriously. Her small face blushed slightly, and she nodded earnestly.

Du Xian, lying flat on the stone table, looked very peaceful. Luo Xiaoxiao's expression was extremely serious. She gently pushed her fair palm forward, and after closing her eyes, a faint purple light gradually emerged from her glabella.

As these lights entered Du Xian's body, a powerful aura quickly gained the upper hand within him.

Luo Xiaoxiao took a deep breath. As time ticked by, everyone present grew tense. Before long, a red light flew out from Du Xian's glabella, and Lin Tianxuan, quick as a flash, struck out with a sword!

Instantly, the powerful Sword Qi tore through layers of Spatial Barriers, obliterating the red light.

In the Foreign Race camp, a man with a blood-red eye on his glabella suddenly coughed up a mouthful of blood, then uncontrollably fell backward. His expression was extremely grim; although his appearance was similar to the Human Race, the eye on his glabella indicated his species.

"This is bad! The plan was discovered, and all the Powerhouses sacrificed themselves!"

His voice was very weak. The moment he was discovered, he wanted to flee, but he hadn't expected to be knocked unconscious. While the body he was controlling was in a coma, he could do nothing, unable even to perceive the outside situation.

As soon as he woke up, he was directly expelled from the shell he had previously been controlling.

Their Heart-Invading Clan had always wanted to control some Human Race Powerhouses, but those Humans lacked status and identity. Even if they were controlled and entered the city, they could only bring back some intelligence at most, unable to accomplish anything significant.

After continuous attempts, this time he directly used Possession on a Disciple of a Powerhouse. This identity allowed him to pass through layers of obstacles and even access some secrets.

Unfortunately, he didn't have time to transmit those things before he was discovered.

If other identities appeared loitering near the city walls or the residences of those Powerhouses, they would quickly be apprehended. This time, one of his Divine Soul Clones was directly destroyed, causing him severe damage from which he wouldn't recover for at least a decade or more.

After his words fell, the entire place descended into silence. Everyone turned their gaze toward the gloomy-faced Shadow Clan Quasi-Emperor Expert.

Although the Shadow Clan only sent one Quasi-Emperor Expert, his strength was in no way inferior to a Great Emperor. He had even once slain a Great Emperor using his Quasi-Emperor Cultivation!

No one present dared to underestimate him.

This assassination attempt was also planned by him, and he had dispatched Powerhouses from his clan, yet he hadn't expected such devastating losses this time.

Eight Heavenly Soldiers just died like that in that city!

"What exactly happened? Why did this situation occur? When exactly were you exposed? They prepared in advance; you must have been exposed a long time ago!"

The Shadow Clan Quasi-Emperor stood up furiously, his voice hoarse, and walked over to pat the other man's shoulder.

"Most likely, it was his Revered Master who discovered it. His Revered Master is the Human Race Powerhouse who previously caused chaos in our rear—Li Haotian of the Heavenly Profound Sect. Although I don't know how he managed to escape from four Great Emperor Powerhouses and still wreak such havoc, he must be carrying something, or perhaps a Great Almighty is secretly protecting him."

"As far as I know, his Cultivation is only at the Saint level; it's absolutely impossible for him to have seen through my Possession!"

The Heart-Invading Clan Powerhouse desperately defended himself, terrified that the other party might be displeased and instantly kill him. Given the severity of the losses this time, it was genuinely possible that the Quasi-Emperor was enraged.

Every Shadow Clan Powerhouse is an extremely valuable asset, and they cherish the lives of their clansmen greatly.

With such immense losses this time, even if he compensated with his entire family fortune, it likely wouldn't be enough.

"I must kill that bastard! I must kill him!!"

The Shadow Clan Quasi-Emperor stared at the location of the Human Race in the distance, his eyes bloodshot, roaring hoarsely... "Oi, kid, aren't you awake yet? Is it not hot enough?"

Li Haotian conjured a ball of flame and threw it directly under the stone table, beginning to give Du Xian the teppanyaki treatment.

Du Xian was fine now, just a bit groggy, needing a brief stimulus to wake up.

Li Haotian decisively proceeded to roast him, and before long, Du Xian slowly came to.

Dazed, he sat up and rubbed his head.

"Revered Master, why did you knock me out?"

Du Xian clearly possessed all the memories from this period, but after only a brief recollection, he realized that what he had done was utterly ridiculous. Not only had he documented the city defenses, but he had also recorded and guided others into the city.

"You were possessed, and you didn't even know it. Thankfully, we discovered it early."

Li Haotian sighed helplessly. This guy was good in every aspect, except that he was usually impulsive in his actions. If he could gain Luck now and boost his Talent, Li Haotian would officially take him as a Disciple.

Du Xian carefully reviewed his memories. Everything that had been tampered with before was recovered, and only then did he realize the outrageous thing he had done: leading Foreign Races into the city!

"Chief... I... I beg the Chief to punish me!"

Du Xian knelt on the ground in fear and trepidation, his face full of shock and disbelief. If this incident had truly led to the assassination of the Generals today, let alone him, even the Heavenly Profound Sect would have been implicated!

"Outwardly, we'll say you deliberately submitted, but were actually pretending to be a spy for them. I used this kind of rhetoric to clear your name. I said you designed a 'Lure the Tiger Out of Its Den' strategy for the Human Race, intending to kill a group of Powerhouses and show the Foreign Races our strength."

Li Haotian waved his hand helplessly. He couldn't let his Disciple's reputation be ruined.

Therefore, he had planned and arranged everything long ago. Now, everyone believed he was a hero, a hero who endured humiliation and bore heavy burdens while lurking among the enemy as an undercover agent.

It took a great deal of effort and persuasion to trick a large number of Powerhouses into coming here so they could be killed.

Upon hearing these words, Du Xian immediately froze, and tears streamed down his face uncontrollably.
