260: disappear

"Your Majesty, they have run away."

A werewolf pointed at the few figures rapidly moving away, a look of confusion on his face; the Emperor felt the same.

"Why did they suddenly run off? They sat here honestly eating for half a day, and then just ran away. Could it be that they found the food we prepared too unpalatable?"

Just as everyone was utterly bewildered, a shout suddenly rang out. A servant from the palace stumbled in from outside, fell to his knees with a thud, his face filled with terror.

"It's bad, Your Majesty, it's bad! Something terrible has happened!"

The servant's voice trembled, and for a long time, he couldn't bring himself to say what had happened. He knew that even though he was just a messenger, once he spoke those words, his head would surely roll.

"What on earth is going on?"

In the end, the servant told the truth, recounting exactly how the young prince had been bitten to death by some inexplicable creature. The entire hall fell into dead silence.

Everyone let out an extremely high-pitched roar of rage.

As the howls of one werewolf after another echoed through the city, more and more werewolves began to respond.

They did not possess any sound-transmission techniques; normally, they relied on reading the sounds within their companions' information to pass on messages.

Accompanied by mournful howls, everyone already knew what had happened in the palace, and the howling sound rapidly moved into the distance.

The few people flying in the sky heard the massive chorus of wolf howls below, their faces showing panic, and they flew even faster.

Fearing that the Fissure would be discovered, they chose to fly further away first, then take a detour back; this would be much safer.

Soon, a large number of werewolves began to appear in the forest, searching for their figures, and it was an overwhelming, all-encompassing search.

The number was extremely high.

They even required two werewolves to carefully inspect every single tree, ensuring nothing was missed before moving forward. Large numbers of werewolves were frantically searching the forest, pushing forward in the direction they had left.

The group left a note behind, then turned around and left immediately.

Two hours later, a werewolf finally found the note. After a carpet-like search, they quickly discovered clues and passed the note to their Emperor.

Holding the note and reading the words left on it, he was immediately filled with uncontrollable rage. The message clearly indicated that they had deliberately killed his prince.

It contained words to the effect that this guy didn't deserve to have offspring.

At the end, there was also the mark of the Myriad-Eyed Clan.

The werewolf Emperor was instantly furious, opening his maw and roaring, his angry bellows seemingly echoing throughout the world.

At this moment, one elderly Powerhouse of the wolf clan after another slowly crawled out of their dens. Having heard the Emperor's voice and knowing he intended to mobilize them, they appeared before him immediately.

After understanding the situation, their gazes turned sharp, and they immediately began to search the surroundings.

If those people hadn't left yet, it should be easy to find them. After all, the entire plane was populated by the wolf clan; as long as they worked together, they would surely be able to bring those villains to justice.

Countless Powerhouses began to emerge from the vast number of cities. Besides werewolves, other beastman races also participated in the search, as they had always been ruled by the werewolf clan.

They understood the werewolves' behavior and usually respected them, as they were always fair and friendly toward them. However, the fact that such a thing had happened now infuriated all the beastmen.

The Myriad-Eyed Clan instantly became a race akin to something in a sewer, with everyone wanting to stomp on them upon sight. Especially those werewolf Powerhouses who had previously come into contact with them were immediately detained for investigation to see if they had any connection with those people.

Once any incriminating evidence was found, they would be executed immediately, as treason was considered the most serious crime among the wolf clan.

Large numbers of Powerhouses were constantly dispatched to search while the group dodged and hid, taking nearly a week to finally return to the vicinity of the wormhole.

After entering the wormhole, they struck out with a palm, shattering the wormhole completely, leaving not even a trace behind; it was impossible for anyone to continue using this passage to enter the Heavenly Realm.

Everyone's mood was somewhat heavy, and their faces revealed expressions of helplessness.

They actually didn't want such things to happen; after all, they could understand attacking those who had harmed them in the past.

But the feeling of actively committing evil was truly unbearable.

That race had been so friendly to them, and now they had actually killed their only hope.

But struggles between races had always been like this. Judging from the current situation, they had successfully framed the Myriad-Eyed Clan for this incident. Next, there would likely be an earth-shattering war, and the werewolf clan would likely deploy all their strength, fighting to the death even if they knew they couldn't win.

The group returned to the village with heavy hearts, only to encounter an even more terrifying scene: there was not a single living person in the village.

When they left, every household had been occupied, but now it had turned into a place of dead silence, and there wasn't a single trace of blood in the entire village.

Clearly, something had happened here.

They conducted an investigation, but did not find any clues.

"Damn, could it be that there isn't just this one spatial fissure nearby, but other evil cultivators or other alien races as well?"

Everyone's expressions were grim, and they immediately began to investigate. Soon, they collected some information, finding that many villagers had left behind some traces.

The one thing they found in all these villagers' homes was a wooden carving.

And what was carved on this wooden carving was a tiger.

The status of this tiger was actually on par with that of a deity, which proved that the other party must have been summoned by some kind of evil cultivator. At the very least, it possessed some special abilities; otherwise, it would never have been placed on the same level as a deity by these villagers.

They immediately began an investigation in the vicinity. It wasn't just this village; the entire kingdom's population had vanished completely overnight. One must know that this kingdom had at least a hundred million people, yet now they had disappeared so abruptly.

"Damn it! Hurry and report this to the Sect; something big is about to happen!"

Their faces were grim. They feared nothing else; even if a Great Emperor Powerhouse appeared, it posed no danger to them.

The only thing they feared was that an alien race had found a way to open a wormhole and invade the entire Heavenly Realm.
