231: The battle was intense.

"What?? Did I hear that right? You said you want to participate???"

Liu Chen's eyes widened until they were round, his voice rising by several octaves as he looked at Li Haotian, who wore a sincere expression before him, not knowing what to say.

"That's right. I'm being serious with you; I'm not joking. Anyway, as long as a Powerhouse from a Sect is under 100 years old, they can participate, and I haven't reached 100 yet."

Li Haotian shrugged, a radiant smile appearing on his face, which made the latter's hair stand on end.

"You were slaughtering quasi-emperors left and right on the city wall, and you had a Peak Great Emperor running around everywhere from your beatings. Now, if you face this group of kids, wouldn't you just slap them to death one by one?"

Liu Chen's mouth twitched uncontrollably, an awkward expression appearing on his face. If this guy participated, no one would be his match. Everyone might as well stop competing; wouldn't it just be over if they let him take first place?

The strongest Disciple present was only at the Heavenly Monarch level. The guy before him could slay quasi-emperors and even beat a Peak Great Emperor until they were howling in agony. Not to mention how strong his methods were, just the talent displayed in combat alone was already terrifying enough.

If he were allowed to participate in a Grand Competition of this level, wouldn't that be a dimension-reduction strike?

"No, no, no. If you show up, how could the others have any heart left to continue competing? Facing you, they would either surrender immediately or be killed by you."

Liu Chen waved his hands repeatedly to refuse. It wasn't that he didn't want to grant this right or pull this string, but mainly because this guy was outrageously strong.

You can't exactly let a professional boxer participate in a scuffle between infants.

Li Haotian sighed helplessly; what the other party said was indeed correct.

"How about this? You get me a spot, and I won't fight past the semi-finals. At the very least, let me earn more points for our Sect. We only have this many people right now, so our score will definitely be much lower than everyone else's."

Liu Chen's eyes flickered. If the other party was willing to voluntarily surrender in the semi-finals, it might not necessarily be a bad thing.

This wouldn't have too much of an impact on the overall battle situation, so it was acceptable.

He knew the other party was very young, but the problem was that this guy was excessively young, and his combat power was also excessively strong.

It was said that when he left the Fissure, his Cultivation had already reached the Peak Heavenly Monarch level. Now, it was unknown if he had made a Breakthrough to quasi-emperor.

Judging by his speed of Cultivation, he might be the first person in eternity to reach the Great Emperor Realm within a hundred years.

Under this guy's persistent pestering, Liu Chen finally chose to let him pick another one from the Heavenly Profound Sect's number tags. Li Haotian, having seen his opponent's information, immediately chose a number tag, which clearly had 44 written on it.

Li Haotian clearly remembered in his memory that the opponent for number tag 44 was a Disciple of the Lüluo Sect. The other party's strength was not just a little bit strong; they were one of the seed players for the Lüluo Sect this time.

Having suffered such humiliation before, Li Haotian naturally couldn't let the Lüluo Sect Powerhouses off. Killing them was only right and proper.

After receiving the number tag, Li Haotian showed it to Ling Yiyi.

"Forty-four. Your number tag is really quite unlucky."

Ling Yiyi rolled her eyes, while Li Haotian laughed heartily. The other party's words didn't make him feel any discomfort; this was the way they had always communicated since they were children.

A radiant smile appeared on Ling Yiyi's face, and the corners of her mouth curled up: "I heard your strength is not bad. We should spar when we have the chance."

"Where did you hear all this?"

Li Haotian was a bit curious, as he rarely mentioned his own strength. Previously, the Elder from the Snow Domain Gate in the Fissure didn't seem to know that much about his past battle records either.

"Can't you just open it and find out? Your reputation is so loud now! Besides, this young lady is now the Sect Leader of the Snow Domain Gate; if I want to inquire about some news, isn't it something I can find out easily?"

Ling Yiyi lifted her head proudly, revealing her snow-white neck.

"Haha, yes, yes, yes, you are the most amazing. I can only fight up to the semi-finals at most; otherwise, relying on my strength would be too much of a bully. I'm just doing this to earn some points for our Sect."

Li Haotian smiled. It was still a long way from reaching the finals; he could fight at least twenty matches, and that was twenty points.

After stretching his muscles a little, one Heavenly Profound Sect Disciple after another began to ascend the Arena.

The initial battles weren't really everyone sparring with each other; regardless of who won or lost, basically no one was injured; it was merely a sparring session.

When they encountered Disciples from factions ranked between eleventh and thirtieth, bleeding incidents began to occur.

Li Haotian watched the stage quietly, his face extremely grim. These guys had all been accumulating strength for a long time, wanting to use this opportunity to rise up and fiercely trample on the Heavenly Profound Sect.

The Heavenly Profound Sect was like a touchstone, and the attitude it displayed was also tottering.

These people were likely promised quite a few benefits as long as they could defeat the Heavenly Profound Sect Disciples.

After the intense battles on stage, the Disciples either ended up injured and lost the ability to fight next time, or were knocked unconscious directly.

Although they won every battle, they paid a tremendous price.

They hadn't even fought many matches, yet eight Disciples were already unable to participate in the subsequent battles.

"Arghhh!"

A Heavenly Profound Sect Disciple wailed in pain on the Arena, clutching his bleeding wound. At his feet, there was clearly a severed arm.

"Surrender!"

Li Haotian declared a surrender directly in his capacity as Sect Master, walked onto the Arena himself, carried this Disciple down, and used a powerful Medicinal Pill to reattach his arm.

The opposing Disciple's eyes were filled with malice, and upon seeing the other side surrender, he immediately burst into laughter.

To him, this seemed like a very interesting matter. Li Haotian's brows were tightly locked; if this continued, the Disciples' injuries and disabilities might become even more severe. The opponent was not a Powerhouse from the Lüluo Sect, but their strength was estimated to be about the same.

"For any opponent you encounter next, as long as they come from the top thirty factions, if you can achieve an overwhelming victory, kill them. If you can't, strive to win. If there is an obvious gap in Realm, try your best to protect yourselves. If you really can't win, then surrender."

Li Haotian looked at this group of Disciples before him very solemnly; they were all fighting for the honor of the Sect, and he could not let them die here.

Everyone's eyes turned slightly red, and they nodded, deeply moved. Du Xian patted his Daoist Robe and then stood up.

"Revered Master, it's my turn for the next battle. The opponent is a Disciple from their Chao Si Sect. If I let him walk off the Arena alive, I am willing to accept punishment!"

After Du Xian's voice fell, his whole body emitted an almost crazy killing intent. The surrounding Disciples' faces were filled with great joy; the Sect Master's direct Disciples were all ruthless people, and they would definitely be able to avenge their grudges.
