206: playing along
"Since nothing has happened, does the marriage arrangement still stand? We have already notified the Disciple from the Emerald Bird Pavilion."
Upon hearing this, everyone's eyes turned in unison toward Zhang Lian, who was standing there.
"I have no objections. You don't need to look at me. If it helps our plan, I am willing to make any sacrifice."
Zhang Lian's tone was extremely calm. He stood tall and proud, projecting an image of being ready to dedicate everything for the plan.
Apart from those present, no one else knew he was still alive.
The Sect had already held a grand funeral yesterday, making it known throughout the city that a Great Emperor Powerhouse had fallen.
Now, they would not so easily let Zhang Lian appear before the world. Since he was publicly dead, he would remain hidden in the shadows.
For the Alien Race, they would think the Human Race had lost a portion of its strength, thus letting their guard down somewhat.
After some discussion, the group decided the wedding would proceed. They had to hold it with great fanfare, and absolutely no one would tell Zhang Lian's granddaughter the full reason.
If she were to do something extreme during the wedding, that was exactly what the group wanted to see.
Upon hearing the group's maliciously amusing plan, Li Haotian could only helplessly massage his temples.
Soon, the area belonging to the Emerald Bird Pavilion transformed from a mourning hall into a wedding venue.
Red silk and lanterns were hung everywhere. Although this place was remote, situated on the battlefield between the Alien Race and the Tianyu Human Race, a sense of ceremony was still necessary.
The main goal was to widely publicize this event, to let everyone know.
Such a rift had appeared between the two major forces, and it naturally needed to be smoothed over. It was not yet time for the Emerald Bird Pavilion and the Alien Race to formally join forces and attack Tianyu.
They still needed to maintain their disguises.
Resolving their conflict over this matter would appear more reasonable.
The Alien Race wouldn't harbor too much suspicion either.
Only after Li Haotian repeatedly confirmed that this was a fake marriage, merely a show for outsiders, did he agree to put on the groom's attire.
Crimson was so furious her face turned red and her neck thickened, ready to disrupt the wedding, but she was forcibly held back by several Great Emperor Powerhouses and Quasi-Emperor Experts.
Although Li Haotian had explained the plan and what needed to be done to her, Crimson agreed on the surface, but inside she was seething with rage.
Even if it was a fake marriage, she didn't want to see Li Haotian participate. He had already consummated their relationship, so how could he marry someone else? That would directly demote her from the legitimate wife to a concubine.
With Crimson's explosive temperament, it was absolutely impossible for her to watch such a thing happen.
As she tried to sneak out to cause trouble, she was immediately pinned down by a group of Quasi-Emperor Experts and Great Emperors.
Zhang Hai and Little Fatty Bai also noticed that a large group of Powerhouses had suddenly appeared at their Revered Master's residence. They had never seen these people before; even within the Heavenly Profound Sect, Zhang Hai had not encountered them.
Yet their strength was incredibly formidable. There were quite a few Great Emperor Powerhouses, and even more Quasi-Emperor Experts. Each one was an extremely powerful existence.
Upon seeing them, the two merely nodded in greeting, not saying much. Their Revered Master hadn't formally introduced them, so they didn't know how to address these people.
Ghost One and Ghost Two addressed them as Elders, and they got along fairly well.
These two had also begun to get used to their life of servitude.
Although they had to do some chores every day, no one in the mansion ever insulted them.
Whether it was meals or anything else, they basically ate the same food as everyone else. Even if they couldn't sit at the table, a portion of the prepared food would be set aside for them.
They received respect, suffered no abuse, and aside from doing some chores, they lived a rather leisurely and comfortable life.
Soon, Li Haotian saw that figure in the sedan chair: a petite and delicate young woman covered by a red veil. Although she showed no aura or emotional fluctuations, she was undeniably sitting inside the sedan chair.
They needed to travel from here to the wedding venue prepared in advance by the Emerald Bird Pavilion.
Li Haotian, dressed in a red robe, rode a tall horse leading the way in front of the sedan chair.
A group of Emerald Bird Pavilion Disciples were responsible for carrying the sedan chair.
Soon, a light sound came from within the sedan chair.
A figure clad in emerald green flew out from the sedan chair, a dagger in hand, thrusting directly toward Li Haotian's back, aiming for his heart.
Li Haotian didn't react. The moment the dagger touched his back, it was blocked by a Magic Treasure. Beneath the red veil, the bride Zhang Linger's eyes, filled with hatred, were also brimming with tears.
"Slap!"
A crisp, loud slap echoed. Li Haotian, with an utterly arrogant demeanor, slapped her face, sending her tumbling back into the sedan chair.
The other Cultivators watching the wedding were stunned by the scene, but none dared to discuss it openly in their presence.
Only after the procession had moved far away did they dare to whisper among themselves.
Li Haotian calmly sensed his surroundings. The slap he delivered earlier wasn't light; it directly sent her flying back. A little girl with Cultivation barely at the Heavenly Human realm was no match for him.
Even if she stabbed him with that little dagger for ten thousand years, she wouldn't breach his defense.
They soon arrived at the wedding venue. Everything proceeded as scheduled, though the people from the Emerald Bird Pavilion looked rather displeased.
After toasting table by table, the sky gradually darkened. Amidst cheers for the couple to enter the bridal chamber, Li Haotian led her back to the room.
The moment he lifted the red veil, Li Haotian saw those eyes that hated him to the bone. The dagger in her hand once again thrust toward his throat.
Li Haotian flicked his finger, and the dagger instantly flew from her grasp.
"I know I'm not your match, but you will never have me!"
Zhang Linger pulled out another dagger from somewhere and immediately stabbed it toward her own throat.
Li Haotian frowned slightly, extended his hand, and flicked his finger. A golden light instantly restrained her movement.
He effortlessly took the dagger from her hand and began to toy with it.
Immediately after, Li Haotian transformed his spiritual power into a golden rope, tightly binding her, preventing her from moving.
"You scoundrel!"
Zhang Linger's eyes were filled with despair. Now, even her Cultivation was incidentally Sealed. She couldn't even self-destruct. She could only watch helplessly as this enemy who killed her grandfather violated her.
But what she anticipated did not happen. Li Haotian merely tossed her, trussed up, onto the bed, covered her with the quilt, then turned over himself and began to Cultivate.
To ensure no flaw in this plan, Li Haotian had no intention of telling this girl the truth. Therefore, he didn't reveal any information to her at all.
