174: Point penalty - 1

Su Ning returned to her room, gave a long stretch, loosened up her limbs, and plopped down in front of her computer.

She turned on her equipment, logged into her account, and entered her voice chat room.

On the mic list, Zhi Xia, Qing He, Sweet Girl, and Jia Jia were chatting idly.

The sharp-eyed Sweet Girl immediately spotted Yao Yao's icon light up, interrupted the conversation, and shouted:

"Oh my! Sisters, look who's here! The eldest miss has arrived! Everyone, clear the way! Let's welcome the pillar of our hall and Brother Ye's favorite—Sister Yao Yao's grand entrance!"

With her shout, the background music switched instantly to the female guest entrance song, "Gee Gee Gee Gee baby baby baby."

"Oh dear, look at you guys..."

Yao Yao tried hard to suppress the smile tugging at the corners of her mouth, cleared her throat, and spoke with feigned modesty:

"Ahem, alright, alright, that's enough! I've told you before not to give me this special treatment. If the other sisters see, they'll think I'm acting like a diva or some big shot~ It's bad for unity!"

The public screen was instantly flooded with comments like "Welcome Empress Yao," "The Number One Sister's status," and "Where's Brother Ye?"

Zhi Xia held back a laugh and asked with concern, "Yao Yao, does your stomach still hurt? If you're not feeling well, rest a bit longer; we'll cover your shift for you."

Sweet Girl casually switched the BGM back, and hearing this, her tone immediately turned sour:

"Sigh, same mic, different fates! Think back to the day before yesterday when my period cramps were killing me and I wanted to ask for leave. What did Sister Zhi Xia say? 'Huh? Leave?! Did you finish your tasks? Are there votes for the Hall Battle? Do you have money to go home for the New Year?' Tsk tsk... that string of soul-searching questions nearly sent me to the afterlife!"

Zhi Xia laughed and scolded her, "What are you so salty about? If you could pull in that many votes, I'd treat you like an ancestor too, serving you tea and water every day!"

Sweet Girl immediately caught the flaw in her words:

"Yao Yao, look, Zhi Xia only cares about you because you have votes. So hypocritical! Only your little Sweetie here—even though it's not my shift—crawled out of my warm bed and came to help you cover the main shift without even washing my face the moment I heard your stomach was upset~ What do you call that? That's providing help in a time of need! That's true sisterhood!"

Yao Yao rolled her eyes at the microphone. Although she knew Sweet Girl was half-joking for the sake of the stream's atmosphere, she still felt quite pleased:

"Yes, yes, Sweet Girl is the best. Later when my Brother Ye comes, I'll definitely give you a good word in front of him~"

While casually humoring the sisters on the mic, she habitually picked up her phone to start her daily routine after going on air—spamming the pinned contact "Brother Ye" on WeChat with cute messages.

"Brother, I'm on air! My stomach is a little uncomfortable today, but I still insisted on coming to work because I thought you might show up!"

"Are you busy, Brother? Do you miss your baby Yao Yao?"

"The hall is so lively today. It would be great if you could come~"

The messages were sent, and as usual, they vanished into the void.

Well... last night Sister Wanxing blurted out that "big sucker" humblebrag, and this morning I shamelessly acted like a third wheel in the living room, ruining whatever good thing that guy might have had going... I feel like he probably still won't pay attention to me today.

It's fine for these few days, but the Hall Battle is coming up in a few more. I still need to figure out how to cleverly butter him up and coax this lord to come online... Should I... pick another gift for him?

He seemed to quite like the clothes from last time? A wallet this time? Or perfume?

Just as Yao Yao was rubbing her chin and seriously considering her "bribery" plan, a particularly eye-catching comment flashed across the public screen:

Super Cool Dont Cue (Lv22): [Didn't they say this Yao Yao is the Number One Sister? She's been on for ages and still no votes? Where's the 'on-air glow'? Where's the big shot?]

Yao Yao frowned.

This guy with the ID "Super Cool Dont Cue" had suddenly popped up yesterday at noon. For some reason, it was like he had targeted her; he'd take any chance to mention her, mocking her for having no points and no big shot supporters.

The other sisters in the hall had specifically explained that Yao Yao was indeed the Number One Sister and had a god-tier big shot named Brother Ye, but that he was usually busy and didn't come often, typically only appearing for events and Hall Battles.

As a result, this guy became even more aggressive, constantly asking, "When is Brother Ye coming?" and "Is he just a bunch of hot air?"

Yao Yao had seen plenty of these typical loud-mouthed haters lately.

They had no money to spend themselves and didn't believe others could actually spend that much, so they loved to go around being sarcastic to get attention. Once a big shot actually arrived and the screen filled with special effects, they usually slipped away faster than anyone.

She was just about to snap back at him when a system notification suddenly drifted across the bottom left of the stream:

[User Brother Ye has entered the stream]

Yao Yao froze, subconsciously looked back at her room door, then quickly leaned into the microphone with a sweet smile:

"Brother~! Why are you here so early today~~! I missed you so much! Mwah~!"

The other hosts also chimed in to welcome him: "Good morning, Brother Ye!" "Welcome, Brother Ye!" "Brother Ye is so early today!"

The public screen was even more flooded with comments like "Welcome Brother Ye," "Brother Ye is finally here," and "The Number One Sister's big shot has arrived!"

Brother Ye's comment soon appeared on the public screen, his tone sounding a bit disgruntled:

Brother Ye (Lv42): [Yeah. Someone ruined my fun this morning, I'm a bit annoyed, so I came here to hang out.]

The smile on Yao Yao's face stiffened slightly as she immediately realized he was talking about her.

She was just about to quickly change the subject when her "enthusiastic" sisters already picked up the thread.

Zhi Xia: "Oh my, who was so blind as to dare ruin our Brother Ye's fun? Tell us so everyone can condemn them together!"

Sweet Girl: "Exactly! Brother Ye, tell us, who was it? We'll help you curse them! I can be very nasty when I swear!"

Jia Jia and Qing He also joined in the clamor.

Yao Yao listened with a forehead full of black lines, but she didn't dare interrupt. She could only grit her teeth and listen to them "denounce" that blind "jerk" one by one, silently praying in her heart for this topic to pass quickly.
