97: Renting a room - 3

Since Lin Wanxing and Su Ning had already come along, they took a casual stroll around the apartment.

Su Ning looked at the spacious living room, the bright kitchen, the bathroom with separate wet and dry areas, and especially the master bedroom with a bay window; her eyes were full of longing.

Although she couldn't afford to rent such a place, it didn't stop her from admiring it and yearning for it.

The neighborhood Lin Wanxing had lived in before was also nice, but compared to a flat in such a high-end development, there was a clear gap in terms of space, renovation quality, and privacy.

No Girl would refuse such an ideal living environment, and she was no exception.

After Manager Wang finished his introduction, he turned his gaze to Jiang Ye. "Brother Jiang, what do you think? If the area is enough for you, it's definitely a high-value choice... What do you say?"

Jiang Ye gave a hum of agreement but didn't answer directly. Instead, he looked at Lin Wanxing and Su Ning, who were looking around, with a smile.

"What do you two think? How's this place?"

She coughed lightly and said with a hint of teasing, "Mr. Jiang, you're renting an apartment. Isn't it a bit inappropriate to ask for the opinions of us two outsiders instead of your girlfriend's?"

Jiang Ye's skin was as thick as a city wall; he didn't even blink. "She's fine with it. I just wanted to hear your thoughts. After all, everyone has different tastes. So? Do you like it?"

"No problem," Jiang Ye agreed readily.

Su Ning walked around the living room and balcony again, liking the openness of this large flat more and more.

She couldn't help but pull Xiao Huang aside and ask in a low voice:

"Um... Manager Huang, are there any shared rentals for large flats like this? I feel like if you could share a place like this, even with four people, it would be more comfortable than a two-bedroom apartment. If there happens to be an empty room that doesn't get rented out, wouldn't that be a win?"

"I'm sorry, Miss Su. For the flats in Jindi Shangfeng, owners usually require the entire unit to be rented out; they don't allow subletting."

Xiao Huang shook his head with a smile. "Even if an individual owner agreed, the rent for each room would increase significantly. For example, in this unit, the master bedroom might be 5,000, and the secondary bedrooms around 4,000. It's not very cost-effective."

Su Ning was stunned for a moment and subconsciously pointed at Jiang Ye. "Then he..."

Manager Wang picked up the conversation. "Mr. Jiang is renting the whole unit to live in by himself."

"By himself?"

Su Ning's eyes widened in shock. "How... how much is the monthly rent for this place?"

"14,000," Manager Wang stated the price.

Su Ning instantly gasped!

"14,000?! A month?!"

She looked at Jiang Ye in astonishment, her mind in a whirl.

Are Delivery Couriers making this much money now? 14,000 a month just for rent?

How many deliveries would he have to make to earn that? You've got to be kidding!

Even the always-composed Lin Wanxing had a flash of surprise in her eyes.

She knew the place wasn't cheap, but she hadn't expected the monthly rent to be as high as 14,000.

Although Jiang Ye was all dressed up today and wearing a watch that looked expensive, based on their previous encounters, he didn't seem like someone who could easily afford this level of consumption.

The contrast was just too great.

Jiang Ye took in their surprise, feeling a surge of secret satisfaction. On the surface, however, he only gave a faint smile, as if this were just a trivial matter:

The group moved on to Building 7.

This time, however, Lin Wanxing and Su Ning's attention wasn't on the compound's environment but on Jiang Ye, who looked completely unruffled.

Su Ning even secretly took out her phone, opened a recruitment app, and double-checked the salary levels for delivery drivers... 6,000 for normal work, 8,000 for hard work, 10,000+ for working like crazy... And he can afford 14,000 for rent? Is he putting his whole family's life on the line?

Building 7 was designed with two elevators for four units per floor. While not as private as Building 2's one elevator per unit, it was still a standard high-end residential configuration.

Having just come from that spacious and bright flat, looking at this two-bedroom, one-living-room unit—though well-laid-out and nicely renovated—the sense of surprise for Lin Wanxing and Su Ning was significantly diminished by comparison.

Still, compared to their previous living conditions, this apartment was still practically perfect.

The two Girls looked around the rooms carefully, checking the water, electricity, and kitchen and bathroom facilities, their faces showing satisfied expressions.

They also sized each other up, and both had a good impression of their future roommate.

Seeing them discussing amongst themselves without any intention of consulting him, their "advisor," Jiang Ye couldn't help but cough, forcing himself into the scene:

"Hmm, I think this one is pretty good too. The layout is nice, the lighting is okay. I'm satisfied."

Su Ning: "..."

The two of them tacitly ignored him and continued to pull Xiao Huang aside to ask about water and electricity bills, property management fees, internet, and other issues.
