292: Chapter 292, that's it? - 2

Jiang Shuang didn't answer directly. Instead, she smiled and patted the shoulder of Fang Wei, who was currently drinking with the person next to him:

"Fang Wei, can I switch seats with you? I haven't seen Jiang Ye in a long time and want to chat with him for a bit."

Fang Wei paused for a second, then stood up nonchalantly to make room: "Sure, go ahead and chat."

Jiang Shuang thanked him and took the opportunity to sit down next to Jiang Ye. She raised her drink, her smile blooming like a flower:

"Jiang Ye, long time no see. How have you been? I heard you're also interning at Shengtian?"

Jiang Ye looked at the cup she held out and felt even more puzzled.

This Jiang Shuang was decent-looking, tall, and had a good figure. Rumor had it she was currently studying for the flight attendant exam, planning to become a flight attendant.

Back in school, the two of them were barely acquaintances at best and had almost never spoken to each other, so why was she suddenly so enthusiastic today?

Out of politeness, he still raised his cup to clink with hers and said vaguely: "It's alright, just the usual, just scraping by."

Jiang Shuang's gaze shifted to Ye Cheng, her smile sweet: "How could it be just the usual? You're off the market now, and your girlfriend is so pretty. It's really enviable."

Ye Cheng blinked and returned an equally "sweet" smile:

"Thanks for the compliment. You also look… average."

"Pfft—"

The drink Jiang Ye had just taken into his mouth nearly sprayed out. He forced it down and choked, coughing twice.

The smile on Jiang Shuang's face stiffened, but she quickly returned to normal and hurriedly waved her hands in "explanation":

"Sister, don't overthink it. I just haven't seen Jiang Ye in a long time and came over to catch up. I don't mean anything else by it."

Ye Cheng glanced at Jiang Ye. Seeing that he not only didn't blame her for being "rude" but instead silently scooted his chair back, crossed his arms, and assumed a "please begin your performance" posture, the corners of her mouth couldn't help but curl up slightly.

She turned back to look at Jiang Shuang and said in a flat tone: "I'm 21."

Jiang Shuang was stunned, not quite understanding why the other person was suddenly stating her age.

Ye Cheng patiently "explained": "If you are the same age as Jiang Ye, then you are one year older than me. If your birthday has already passed… then you are two years older than me."

She paused, and seeing that the other person didn't seem to realize she was calling her "old," she pursed her lips in boredom.

She dares to come out hunting with just this? Her level is way too low.

Not to mention the little green tea at home, she's not even as good as Jin Lulu and Sheng Jin in her own dorm.

Taking action against a player like this is almost like winning unfairly.

Boring.

She couldn't be bothered to beat around the bush anymore and simply summarized it bluntly: "So, don't call me 'sister.' I'm younger than you."

Jiang Shuang's mouth twitched, and she barely managed to maintain her smile: "Little sister, that's just a polite term of address. I didn't mean anything by it. Why are you getting so hung up on age?"

Ye Cheng said "Oh" and nodded: "I didn't mean anything else either, just exactly what you thought, purely literal meaning."

"…"

Jiang Shuang's eyelids twitched. She knew she had hit a hard target and definitely wouldn't gain any advantage by continuing the conversation. She turned her pleading gaze toward Jiang Ye:

"Jiang Ye, your girlfriend doesn't seem to like me. Did I… cause you trouble? I really just came over to say hello."

Ye Cheng nodded very affirmatively and took over the conversation: "Yes, you caused trouble. Apologize."

"!!!"

Jiang Shuang was so choked up she nearly passed out on the spot. She subconsciously reached out to tug on Jiang Ye's sleeve:

"Jiang Ye, look at your girlfriend… Did she misunderstand something? Hurry and explain it to her, between us, really…"

Before she could finish speaking, Fang Wei, who had been silently observing from the side and fearing his Buddy would suffer a "workplace" failure, hurriedly interrupted her:

"Oh! Shuangzi! When did you get here? Come, come! Let's drink, let's drink! My Buddy wishes you an early boarding, and may you never be shot down!"

Jiang Shuang was stunned by this abrupt blessing. Before she could think of how to respond, Fang Wei had already raised his glass and offered it to her.

Helpless, she had to raise her drink to clink with his and took a reluctant sip.

Fang Wei downed his drink heroically, then stood up and forcefully wedged himself between her and Jiang Ye, draping his arm over Jiang Ye's shoulder:

"Shuangzi, we've chatted enough, right? I still have many little secrets to discuss with my Buddy. This spot… shouldn't it be returned to me?"

As he said this, he gave Jiang Shuang absolutely no chance to refuse, reaching out to gently tug her arm, signaling for her to get up.

Jiang Shuang looked at the smiling Ye Cheng, then at the face of Jiang Ye who looked like he was thinking "spectacular, spectacular," and finally at the meddling Fang Wei. She knew her "catching up" session for today couldn't continue.

She pursed her lips and had no choice but to stand up and vacate the seat. Before leaving, she gave Jiang Ye a resentful look and said softly:

"Jiang Ye, well… let's chat later. I'll call you later…"

"Come on! Brothers and Sisters!"

Fang Wei shouted again, his loud voice drowning out her words, as he raised his glass to greet the others at the table:

"Everyone at this table, let's go another round! To… to us successfully passing our internship period without being beaten to death by society!"

With his shout, the gazes of the people at both tables turned over, more or less.

Seeing everyone's attention drawn over, Jiang Shuang stood there awkwardly for a second, had to swallow the second half of her sentence, and turned back to her own table dejectedly.

After everyone finished the drink, Fang Wei wiped his mouth, leaned into Jiang Ye's ear, and huffed unhappily:

"Can you have some common sense, damn it? Even if you want to flirt, do it on the down-low! Didn't you see your boss's face almost hit the floor? If you really offend your sugar daddy and she leaves, where are you going to find another sucker who's this pretty and willing to spend money on you?"

Jiang Ye turned his head to look at Ye Cheng, who was smiling as she scooped soup for him, acting as if nothing had happened, and the corner of his mouth twitched:

"Thanks, kind soul."

Fang Wei "Tsked" and waved his hand carelessly: "Who are we to each other? Best buddies for life! Maybe we'll even be brothers-in-law in the future!"

He paused, looked shy for a moment, coughed twice, lowered his voice, and covered his mouth with his hand:

"Hey, speaking of brothers-in-law, tell me… Brother Ye, do you think… does President Ye have any Sisters or anything like that? Cousins, distant cousins, anything is fine! Recently, your Buddy… cough… that… my teeth haven't been too good, and I just want to eat something… um… soft…"

Jiang Ye: "…"
