179: Sunrise - Part 2 (Bonus Chapter)
The door opened and Jiang Ye walked out. His gaze swept over Su Ning's face—which was working hard to force a smile but couldn't hide a hint of stiffness—then glanced at the sushi on the dining table that concealed a murderous intent, laughing inwardly.
Su Ning enthusiastically pushed him toward the dining table, pointing at the pile of sushi. "Look, Little Brother, I specifically ordered the sushi you wanted most. There's a full variety! Sit down and try some!"
Jiang Ye smacked his lips, putting on a face full of 'embarrassment.'
"Aiyoh, Little Sister Su, how can I accept this? Making you spend money every day..."
Su Ning snorted coldly in her heart.
Dog man! You actually know how to feel embarrassed?!
"It's nothing, it's nothing! It's only right! You take such good care of us usually..."
Jiang Ye waved his hands repeatedly, his expression becoming increasingly 'sincere.' "No, no, no, I'm too embarrassed. I really can't..."
Su Ning quickly interrupted, "It really doesn't mat—"
Before she could finish, she saw Jiang Ye suddenly turn around and walk straight toward the entryway.
Su Ning's heart skipped a beat as an ominous premonition surged within her. "Eh? Where are you going?"
"Me? Picking up my takeout."
Jiang Ye pulled open the door, reached out to the top of the shoe cabinet outside, and brought back a paper bag printed with a Japanese restaurant's logo.
Holding the bag, he turned to look at Su Ning's face—which had instantly frozen as her smile gradually vanished—and grinned, revealing a brilliant smile.
"I ordered takeout. I told the rider to leave it at the door just now. Look, it just arrived."
Su Ning: "..."
She stared at the paper bag in Jiang Ye's hand, which clearly also contained sushi, then looked back at the plate of 'spiced-up' sushi in front of her. Her whole being turned to stone once more.
"Pfft—"
Lin Wanxing, who had been silently eating her salad, looked up and caught a glimpse of Su Ning's kaleidoscopic complexion. She couldn't hold it in; the broccoli she had just put in her mouth almost sprayed out. She quickly covered her mouth, her shoulders shaking uncontrollably.
As if he didn't see someone's distress, Jiang Ye walked over of his own accord. He reached out and pulled the petrified Su Ning over, pressing her down into the chair with the 'spiced-up' sushi, his tone lighthearted.
"Quick, Little Sister Su, sit down and eat! Today we'll each eat our own, no need to be polite!"
After saying that, he sat in the spot opposite her, took out two boxes of sushi platters from the paper bag, and tilted his chin toward Su Ning.
"Little Sister Su, don't just stand there, hurry up and eat! What are you waiting for? Weren't you hungry too?"
Looking at this 'labor of love' before her, Su Ning's stomach was already starting to churn with acid in anticipation.
She swallowed hard with difficulty and squeezed out a smile that looked worse than crying. "Act... actually, I ate too much at lunch. I'm not really hungry right now, how about..."
Jiang Ye grinned, his tone exceptionally 'gentle.'
"Even if you're not hungry, have a couple of bites. Otherwise, it's such a waste... Eh? Could it be that Little Sister Su added some 'extra ingredients' to plot against me, so you don't dare eat it yourself?"
"..."
Su Ning felt her skin crawl under his gaze, knowing she wouldn't be able to talk her way out of this one.
She gritted her teeth and steeled her heart. With the resolve of a 'heroic sacrifice,' she reached out with a slightly trembling hand, picked a piece that looked like it had less wasabi, closed her eyes, and stuffed it into her mouth.
The next second—
"Mmph!"
An intense, spicy sensation rushed straight to her brain!
Su Ning's whole body shuddered uncontrollably, and tears instantly welled up.
Jiang Ye looked at her grimacing, teary-eyed state and snorted irritably.
"If you're going to do something bad, at least be quiet about it! I heard you out there gnashing your teeth from inside the room!"
Although he sounded disgusted, he quickly pulled out a few tissues to protect his hand and held them out in front of Su Ning.
"Fine, fine, don't force it, spit it out. I got enough takeout for you too, just eat mine."
Su Ning, who was being tortured by the wasabi to the point of near-death, was momentarily stunned as she looked at the hand suddenly offered to her.
An indescribable mix of emotions surged in her heart.
Seven parts warmth, three parts bitterness, and ninety parts 'Dog man, I guess you still have a bit of humanity left.'
She hesitated for a moment before opening her mouth and spitting that 'lethal' mouthful of sushi into the tissue spread across Jiang Ye's hand.
After spitting it out, the spicy sensation eased significantly.
Su Ning watched Jiang Ye throw the wad of tissue into the trash, then watched him push over an unopened box of sushi. She subconsciously scratched her head, her eyes darting around as she hesitated to speak.
Jiang Ye saw through her thoughts and snorted again.
"Touched? No need. Don't bother with that useless stuff, just hurry up and eat. I'm going to pour some water."
Saying that, Jiang Ye prepared to stand up.
However, his bottom had barely left the chair by five centimeters when a powerful resistance came from below, violently yanking him back down into the chair.
"...?"
He paused, then subconsciously tried to lift his bottom again.
It didn't budge!
He looked down in confusion, and his face instantly darkened—his pants were stuck to the chair with super glue.
Jiang Ye: "..."
Lin Wanxing, who had witnessed the 'trap' take effect from start to finish, saw Jiang Ye get yanked back the moment he stood up, his face a mix of shock and dark lines. She finally couldn't hold it back anymore.
"Pfft—Hahahaha... Oh my god, I can't..."
She laughed so hard she doubled over, unable to even hold her fork steady as she slapped it onto the table, tears almost coming out from laughing.
Su Ning shrank her neck under Jiang Ye's murderous gaze and defended herself in a guilty, small voice.
"I... I ordered so much... It would be such a waste if we couldn't finish it... I was afraid... afraid you'd run away..."
Jiang Ye was simply speechless, gritting his back teeth.
"Su Ning! Are you a three-year-old? Doing something as childish as putting glue on a chair?!"
Su Ning looked at the box of sushi Jiang Ye had just pushed toward her, and that bit of embarrassment surfaced again.
"Little Brother... that... I bought the matching 'antidote'! I'll go get the glue remover for you! Wait for me..."
Before she could finish, Jiang Ye waved his hand irritably, cutting her off.
He reached out and grabbed the small scissors used for opening parcels from the table, aimed them at the back of his stuck shorts, and with two quick snips—"shua shua!"
The fabric split open at the sound.
Then, Jiang Ye gave a tug and stood up quite naturally and generously, moving to sit in another clean chair nearby.
"Alright, fixed. Let's eat."
The entire movement was smooth as flowing water, crisp, neat, and incredibly cool.
However, Su Ning and Lin Wanxing, sitting opposite him, were completely dumbfounded.
They... they had seen the sunrise!
A man wearing only boxers had calmly stood up, shifted over, and sat down right in front of them.
Due to the angle of their perspective, their gazes uncontrollably followed a certain spot as it traced an arc above the horizon of the dining table—like the rising and setting of the sun, completing the entire process of ascending and descending within their limited field of vision.
Su Ning: "!!!"
Lin Wanxing: "!!!"
The two women were petrified once again.
