257: Chapter 257 Things Have Gone Wrong

11:00 PM, inside a room at the Westin Hotel.

Zhao Yumei was happily taking photos of the silk scarves and clothes she had received today under the light, turning them over and over, preparing to show off in her hometown sisters' group chat again, when her phone suddenly rang shrilly.

It was an unfamiliar landline number.

She frowned and answered impatiently, "Hello? Who is it?"

"Is this Zhao Yumei Yumei? This is the Dadong District Public Security Bureau..."

A few minutes later, Zhao Yumei held the receiver, completely stunned. The smile on her face froze and then vanished.

She sat dazed on the bed for a good while before finally processing what the police officer had said on the phone—her son, Lin Haoxuan, had been caught red-handed on suspicion of soliciting a prostitute!

A surge of anger suddenly flared up from the bottom of her heart. Zhao Yumei's face instantly turned ashen, and she hurriedly fumbled for Lin Haoxuan's number to call him.

"The number you have dialed is powered off..."

Hearing the prompt from her phone, she rushed to the door of Lin Haoxuan and Sun Na's room and pounded on it forcefully:

"Haoxuan! Haoxuan! Are you in there?! Open the door!"

The room was deathly silent; there was no response.

Zhao Yumei's heart sank completely—it seemed something really had happened to her son!

But... where was Sun Na? Why wasn't she in the room either? Shouldn't she have been keeping an eye on Haoxuan?

Suppressing her anger and panic, she searched for Sun Na's phone number while stumbling to Jiang Ye's door, knocking loudly, "Bang, bang, bang!"

"Xiao Jiang! Xiao Jiang! Open the door quickly! Something's happened! Something big has happened!"

Jiang Ye's somewhat groggy voice came from inside the room: "What's wrong? Auntie, it's so late?"

Zhao Yumei stamped her feet in anxiety: "Open the door quickly! Haoxuan... Haoxuan has been arrested by the police!"

"What?!"

The door was suddenly pulled open, and Jiang Ye looked completely "bewildered": "Who did you say was arrested by the police?"

Zhao Yumei was both anxious and angry. As she dialed Sun Na's number, she spoke rapidly:

"Haoxuan! That brat ran out tonight... out to..."

Before she could finish her stammering, a cheerful ringtone suddenly rang out from the room behind Jiang Ye.

"The official answered his nonsense, fearing his mouth would only call a deer a horse..."

The air froze instantly.

Zhao Yumei stiffened all over, her face turning from pale to purple. She suddenly looked up and stared intently into Jiang Ye's room.

She saw Sun Na wearing a sexy camisole nightgown, her legs wrapped in sheer black stockings, slowly shuffling out from inside, still holding the ringing phone in her hand.

Jiang Ye stepped aside slightly and shrugged his shoulders "helplessly":

"Oh, Auntie, don't misunderstand. Na Na said she couldn't sleep tonight and felt stifled, so she came over to chat with me... We've only been chatting for a little while."

Zhao Yumei looked with burning eyes at the alluringly dressed Sun Na, who clearly had bad intentions, then glanced at the neatly dressed and "righteous-looking" Jiang Ye. In a flash, she "figured it all out" in her mind.

Fine! Just great!

It was bad enough having vixens like Ye Qinghan and Secretary Su eyeing him from the outside, but now there was a traitor within her own family?

This little slut Sun Na must have seen how generous the son-in-law was today, spending hundreds of thousands without blinking an eye, and completely developed crooked ideas!

No wonder Haoxuan snuck out to fool around in the middle of the night; his official girlfriend not only didn't stop him but didn't even make a phone call. So this was her plan!

She wanted to take advantage of Haoxuan's absence to crawl into her brother-in-law's bed?!

Looking at Zhao Yumei's face, which was so dark it seemed it might drip ink, Sun Na was also incredibly embarrassed, silently cursing herself for not putting her phone on silent earlier.

But... fortunately, her brother-in-law was a "beast in human clothing" and not a "pure beast."

After she came in just now, her brother-in-law only asked her to sit down and poured her a glass of water. He hadn't laid a finger on her. Both were fully dressed, and nothing had happened.

This gave her a bit of confidence to quibble—no, to explain.

Moreover, she had heard clearly what Zhao Yumei shouted at the door—that useless Lin Haoxuan was arrested by the police!?

In the middle of the night, a man getting arrested by the police... Holy crap! Could it be for soliciting prostitutes?!

In a flash, Sun Na calmed down. She gave a light cough and squeezed out a worried expression:

"Auntie, what's wrong? You just said... Haoxuan was arrested by the police? Why would the police arrest him in the middle of the night? What... what did he do?"

Zhao Yumei's expression immediately became even uglier.

You damn well know it's the middle of the night?

You, a prospective sister-in-law, aren't in your own room in the middle of the night, but appear in your brother-in-law's room dressed like this, and you have the nerve to ask?

She gritted her teeth, temporarily suppressing her anger toward Sun Na, and spoke quickly to Jiang Ye:

"Xiao Jiang, let's not talk about anything else for now! Come with me quickly. We're going to the Police Station to find a way to get that brat Haoxuan out first!"

Jiang Ye's face still maintained a "blank" and "concerned" look as he nodded quickly: "Oh, oh, okay! Auntie, don't worry. Leave this to me. We'll talk on the way."

As he spoke, he looked back at Sun Na as if unintentionally: "Na Na, are you coming? If you are, go back and put on a coat quickly. If not... then go back to your room and rest first."

Sun Na was worried about not having a chance to understand the situation better and catch Lin Haoxuan's weakness. How could she miss such a "perfectly legitimate" occasion?

She Nod quickly: "I'm going, I'm going! Of course I'm going! Haoxuan is my boyfriend. Since something so big happened to him, I definitely have to go!"

After saying that, as if afraid of being left behind, she quickly jogged back to her room to change.

This was a solid leverage over Lin Haoxuan, and even over Zhao Yumei!

At the very least, she could use it to shut Zhao Yumei's mouth so she wouldn't have the face to ask about her coming to "chat" with her brother-in-law tonight.

If Lin Haoxuan really was caught for soliciting... then whether it was for a breakup or using it as an excuse to force the Lin family to give more betrothal gifts, she would have a justifiable reason!

Zhao Yumei opened her mouth, wanting to stop Sun Na, but she really had no reason or energy to do so. She could only wait in the corridor with a dark face.

Before Sun Na could come out after changing, the door to another guest room at the end of the corridor opened.

Lin Wanxing walked out with her phone, looking confused: "What's wrong? Mom, Jiang Ye sent me a WeChat message saying... something happened to Haoxuan?"

Seeing her, Zhao Yumei became even angrier!

This good-for-nothing loser!

When all was said and done, if she, as the older sister, had been a bit more capable and listened to her mother by staying in the same room as the son-in-law to keep him tied down, would that little slut Sun Na have dared to come over to "chat"?

Haoxuan might not have even had the chance to run out and fool around!

She glared and shouted crossly at Lin Wanxing: "It's none of your business! Go back to sleep! Don't add to the mess here!"

"Auntie, calm down."

Jiang Ye walked out after changing his clothes and shook his head: "Wanxing is also concerned about her brother; after all, he is her biological brother. Forget it, if she wants to come, let her. An extra person means extra help."

"..."

Zhao Yumei took a deep breath, looking at the chaotic situation before her—a disappointing son, a calculating prospective daughter-in-law, and a useless daughter... She gritted her teeth and gave a heavy "humph" from her nose, which served as silent consent.
