326: Chapter 326 I Bet She Won't Hit Me - 2

Ye Cheng's expression shifted from initial shock to bewilderment, and then to being completely speechless as her fists instantly clenched tight.

She was now two hundred percent certain that this guy had definitely noticed her mood wasn't right just now and had deliberately used this cheeky way to divert her attention.

But the problem was...

This was just too damn shameless!

Was that even human speech?!

What did he mean by "gaining a mother"?

Who was a prince? Where did this chasm-like gap come from?!

She suppressed her anger, catching a glimpse from the corner of her eye of a small head sneakily peeking out from behind the old locust tree not far away, eyes darting around—it was Skippy watching the show.

Ye Cheng took a deep breath, desperately telling herself: Stay calm, be rational, don't start a fight in front of the child, and leave this guy some dignity.

"I won't argue with you about the 'extra mother' thing for now. I'll wait until I see your mother to properly 'ask' her how your family managed to 'share' her with you."

She put her hands on her hips, firing on all cylinders: "Also, you're talking about a gap now? Come on, tell me, what's your status? How am I not good enough for you?"

Hearing this, Jiang Ye looked down at her with a sidelong glance and said calmly, "I am the Landlord."

Ye Cheng: "..." (F*ck!)

She was momentarily at a loss for words, unable to refute it! This guy really was the Landlord!

"Then what about... social status? What's the difference between us?"

Jiang Ye tilted his head slightly, looking up at the sun at a forty-five-degree angle as if gazing at his own brilliant future:

"Heh, I am already a glorious intern who has contributed half a year of my life to society. Whereas you..."

His gaze dropped, fixing on Ye Cheng once more as he clicked his tongue:

"You are still just an ordinary junior in college, a full year behind me. This year, Cheng Cheng, is a chasm."

"...?"

Ye Cheng was stunned.

She had never heard such an absurd and convoluted "gap theory" in her entire life!

Did this guy mean that just because he was one year older, there was a gap in social status?!

How was she supposed to bridge this one-year "chasm"? Use a time machine?

Her fists clenched tighter and tighter as she gritted her teeth and asked one last question: "Then! What! About! Social! Circles?!"

"Let's not mention anything else, I'll just name one person!"

Jiang Ye immediately got excited upon hearing this, raising an eyebrow and giving a thumbs up:

"Shengtian's number one tough guy, Dadong District's underground emperor, the law enforcer walking between light and dark, the lifelong enemy of Zhang Wenhai and Lin Haoxuan—An Zhengjun, my Brother An! Have you seen... eh? Ye Cheng? What are you doing? Put your fist down! I just bet that you wouldn't hit people, don't let down my trust... Holy crap! I misjudged you!!"

Ye Cheng finally reached her limit!

To hell with being rational! To hell with giving him face!

He was just too damn annoying! She couldn't hold back anymore!

She let out a low growl through gritted teeth and chased after Jiang Ye with a flurry of chaotic but powerful punches, specifically aiming for the fleshy parts like his arms and back.

Jiang Ye hadn't expected her to actually strike in "broad daylight," and he fled in terror, shouting as he ran:

"Hey! I'm helping you relieve your emotions! I'm helping you relieve your emotions, hey!"

"Relieve my emotions?! I don't believe you! Is there any proof?!" Ye Cheng chased him, her fists and feet never stopping.

"Where the hell is the proof for that! I was acting out of pure kindness, okay!" Jiang Ye circled a bare old tree in the courtyard in a pathetic state.

"If there's no proof, then die! That's for annoying me!"

"I'm truly impressed, how can you just start hitting me! Why can't you learn from Little Su and Wanxing, look how gentle they are..."

"You, you, you!"

"Me what me! Little Su only knows how to feel bad for her brother!"

"Jiang! Ye! Come here and die for me!"

The two of them immediately staged a fierce "martial arts performance" in the courtyard. Jiang Ye was beaten until he was hiding everywhere, repeatedly begging for mercy, and the scene once spiraled out of control.

Skippy, who had been hiding behind the tree, saw the battle escalate and her eyes immediately lit up. She stared intently at the two in the "great war," her small fists subconsciously mimicking their movements.

After Ye Cheng chased Jiang Ye around the flower bed three times and stopped, panting, for a temporary ceasefire, Skippy saw her chance. She suddenly rushed out from behind the tree, raising both hands and shouting repeatedly:

"Stop hitting! Stop hitting! Sister Ye, don't hit my brother-in-law!"

Then she made a big jump, blocking the way in front of Jiang Ye, spreading her small arms with a righteous expression: "Sister Ye, if you want to hit someone, hit me!"

Jiang Ye, Ye Cheng: "..."

The two of them looked at this little drama queen and were both speechless.

Jiang Ye irritably rubbed his sore arm. "You watched the show from there for so long, and you only come to save me after the kidnapper has already killed the hostage?"

"Brother-in-law! What matters is the attitude! Atti! Tude!"

Skippy waved her hand and explained solemnly, "I'm so small, I definitely can't beat her. Wouldn't I just be getting beaten for nothing if I came out early?"

Ye Cheng snorted and shook her numb hand. "What are you doing jumping out suddenly? It's almost time to eat. Why aren't you waiting properly instead of wandering around?"

"Ah! I have serious business!"

Skippy scratched her head and quickly pulled out a bunch of odds and ends from her small pocket—band-aids, iodine, red potion, and a small roll of gauze, stuffing them all in front of Jiang Ye.

"Brother-in-law, do you know why you always get beaten?"

Jiang Ye glanced at the pile of "healing props" in her hand, his lip twitching. "Why?"

"Because you always look like you don't care! Is the Tigress trying to kill you? She wants to beat an attitude out of you! Just like how I rushed out just now, your attitude needs to be in Shengtian!"

Skippy held up the items in her hand, promoting them enthusiastically: "Just use these little props of mine to bandage yourself up a bit and make yourself look really, really pathetic. It'll remind you not to act so smug, and it'll remind the Tigress—she'll see it and think, 'Oh, I've hit him enough,' and then maybe she won't hit you anymore!"

Jiang Ye's eyelids twitched wildly as he listened. "So? How much for this 'survival kit'? Eight thousand each?"

"No, no, no, brother-in-law, you're being too formal!"

Skippy shook her head like a rattle. "That was just joking with outsiders before. Now Skippy knows you're one of us, you're my brother-in-law, so I definitely won't scam you."

She tilted her head and thought for a moment, holding up two fingers and then pulling back half of one:

"Hmm... since you're my brother-in-law and you just got beaten so badly, the package price is... 1,500! How about it, brother-in-law? Let's be friends?"

Jiang Ye: "..." (I'm definitely going to introduce you to Old Luo.)

Ye Cheng rubbed her temples speechlessly, unable to watch any longer.

She glanced at Skippy's empty wrist and asked irritably, "Skippy, where's your phone watch?"

Skippy blinked. "It's charging in the room. Why, Sister Ye?"

Ye Cheng snorted, grabbed the pile of "props" from her hand, stuffed them back into her pocket, and then grabbed the back of her collar, turning to walk toward the canteen.

"Go eat first! After eating, go back to your room and check your messages! The Old Man probably sent out a notice in the group long ago!"

"Ah?"

Being carried, Skippy's short legs kicked in the air. Her brow furrowed as if she was pondering something, then she punched her palm with a small fist, sighing in realization:

"Sigh! It seems the Old Man succeeded! As expected, the older ginger is indeed the spicier one! I still need to practice!"

Ye Cheng didn't know whether to laugh or cry at her precocious summary. She lifted her up and gave her small bottom two "smacks":

"Practice what?! Can't you spend that time studying?! Do you know how to do your math problems? Can you recite your texts? If I catch you doing these crooked things all day again, I'll hit you every time I see you!"

Skippy rubbed her bottom aggrievedly. It didn't really hurt much, but she felt she was losing face.

She really wanted to snap back with "The Old Man said you were just like this when you were little!" but seeing that the situation was against her and she couldn't win a fight, she could only let out a small "humph" in protest.
