60: Watching a movie - Part 2
Not long after, Yaoyao sent a picture on WeChat.
The photo showed a beautifully arranged small fruit platter, with apples, oranges, and strawberries cut into uniform sizes. Next to it was a bottle of NFC orange juice and a small dish of mixed nuts.
In the background was a corner of her neatly organized desk.
"Brother, I'm ready, let's start, let's start!"
Jiang Ye responded with an "Oh," then opened the WeChat File Assistant to browse.
Inside, aside from various game links and companion flight materials, there were naturally many movie files with "high artistic content."
He smirked, copied a link, and pasted it into the media player.
"Starting to play now."
The movie began to load, and the player window appeared on the shared screen.
Yaoyao's side came the sound of sipping orange juice, and she asked curiously, "Brother, what are we watching? What movie did you pick?"
"An old film, quite classic, probably one you haven't seen. High artistic content."
She tried to create common ground: "Oh! Brother, you like old films too? Me too! What's the movie called? Who stars in it?"
Jiang Ye held back a laugh and gave a name: "The lead actress... Li Lizhen. A real actress."
"Li Lizhen?"
Yaoyao searched her memory; it didn't seem like a currently active star, probably an older actress.
"Oh, I haven't heard of her. Must be a really old film then."
She was about to ask about the genre when she suddenly saw the movie's opening credits appear on the shared screen, the title slowly fading in.
She subconsciously read it out: "Honey... Honey Peach Matures...?"
Hmm, from the title, it sounded like a light romantic comedy or an art film, one she definitely hadn't seen.
"Yeah, I really haven't seen it. The title sounds quite interesting."
Jiang Ye chuckled inwardly, continuing to mislead: "Yeah, it's quite good. Though a bit dated, it has high artistic content, especially in... um... the aspect of being human, it delves quite deeply."
Yaoyao took it at face value and picked up a strawberry with a fork: "Oh, then I should watch it carefully, learn something."
The film officially began.
The first few minutes were fairly normal, just some everyday scenes.
The two chatted intermittently, with Yaoyao still sharing the flavors of the various fruits in front of her.
However, as the film started playing and the progress bar slowly advanced, Yaoyao's voice from the phone gradually faded, shifting from light casual chat to occasional, ambiguous monosyllables like "uh...", "mm...", "hmm..."
Only after ten minutes did she speak again, her voice becoming hesitant, her breathing seeming a bit uneven:
"Bro... brother... this movie... it... it's a bit... too... too much..."
Jiang Ye barely held back a laugh, casually hit the pause button, and deliberately hummed in a slightly displeased tone:
"Too much what? Isn't this exactly the type you told them in the lobby you 'watch every night with me'? Later, there's 'All the Way to Xi' and 'Jade Servant Group.' Once your artistic appreciation level improves, I'll take you into the spiritual worlds of teachers like Sanjo Yū, Aika, and Sakura Sora."
"Oh~ Brother, you heard that~!"
Yaoyao's voice instantly became so shy it could wring out water:
"Don't... Brother~ I was wrong! I was just... just bragging in the lobby... I didn't want them to know you usually ignore me, making me seem less important... That's why I said that..."
Her apology was extremely sincere, her voice soft and pleading, making Jiang Ye feel light as a feather.
"Alright, I'll let it slide this time... If you dare spread rumors about me outside again, see how I deal with you!"
Feeling he'd teased her enough, he stepped down: "No—next—time—got it!"
Yaoyao, as if granted amnesty, quickly promised: "Mm-hmm! I won't dare again! Then... Brother, should we... keep watching this?"
Jiang Ye countered: "What do you think?"
Yaoyao fell silent for a few seconds, then spoke again in an even more charming, infinitely seductive, and shy tone, whispering:
"Maybe... maybe we shouldn't watch it... It's... embarrassing to watch like this... and... not fun either..."
She paused, then offered an incredibly tempting promise: "When... when I see Brother in the future... I'll... sit in Brother's lap... and we can watch together, okay? Whatever you want to watch... I'll watch with you..."
"..."
Jiang Ye rubbed his nose, knowing full well this was another distant, big, round promise, but... hearing that infinitely shy, suggestive voice in his headphones made him unconsciously imagine the scene, and he had to admit—this promise smelled damn good!
"Enough, enough, stop making promises!"
Jiang Ye felt the restlessness he'd just calmed surging back even stronger, so he quickly cut her off: "Go do your own thing, I'm... going to play some games."
Yaoyao seemed a bit disappointed but didn't dare continue the dangerous topic, obediently saying: "Then... Brother, you go ahead. I'll... go check out the lobby."
"Mm," Jiang Ye responded.
Yaoyao's side came the sound of leaving the room.
Jiang Ye looked at the now-quiet "Watch Together" software interface, then at the frozen suggestive scene on the screen, let out a long sigh, and shook his head with a bitter smile.
"This is like hurting the enemy a thousand while losing eight hundred..."
He casually tossed his phone aside and opened the League of Legends icon.
It seemed tonight was destined to be spent in Summoner's Rift, using his teammates' god-awful plays to cool down his raging flames.
