Chapter 134: Volt Avatar
Chapter 134
The city of Maurina buzzed with life, its streets teeming with merchants, travelers, and residents going about their day. The air was warm, filled with the scent of baked bread, roasted meats, and the distant clanging of blacksmiths at work. But high above the lively crowd, a shadow moved swiftly, silently.
A figure darted across the rooftops, slinking from one building to another with animalistic grace. At a glance, its silhouette resembled that of a lizard—yet something about it was distinctly unnatural.
The creature came to a stop atop a narrow alleyway, crouching low. It descended from the rooftop with eerie silence, landing on the cobbled ground. Now in the dim alley, its full form was revealed.
It looked like a lizard—but not quite. Its body was covered in thick, emerald-green scales that gleamed faintly under the light. Powerful limbs and a flexible tail hinted at brute strength and agility, but what stood out the most were two things:
First, the creature’s head was human. Blonde hair framed a sharp face, eyes gleaming with intelligence and calculation.
Second, there was a presence—controlled, focused, dangerous.
It was Aiden.
In his current beast form, Aiden had taken on the traits of a reptilian predator, granting him enhanced speed, strength, and the ability to control lower animals—seeing through their eyes and ears to gather information.
He had been tracking the Cursed Organization for hours now, but progress was slow. That was, until recently, when he began discovering strange circular symbols marked across the city—etched into walls, alleys, and rooftops. Four so far, each more intricate than the last.
And now, here was the fifth.
It sat before him, inscribed perfectly on the ground. A large circle, surrounded by smaller ones, each filled with unknown symbols that glowed faintly. There was something... wrong about it.
Aiden pressed his clawed foot against the markings, attempting to disrupt them—just as he had tried with the others. But again, nothing. The symbols remained, untouched, as if carved into reality itself.
With a low grunt of frustration, he turned to leave—but paused.
His gaze shifted back to the circle, something gnawing at his mind. Whatever this was, it wasn’t ordinary. It might not be confirmed yet, but every instinct screamed that these circles were connected to the Cursed Organization.
And when his little informants—his "eyes" scattered across the city—found something, he’d be the first to know.
Without wasting another moment, Aiden leapt back into the shadows, resuming his silent hunt.
---
Back at the Arena...
"It’s sparkle time!" Elexa chirped with a dazzling smile, electricity crackling violently around her.
Blue lightning danced across her long azure hair, lifting it toward the sky like a living current. Her entire body was surrounded by dense, sparking static—an electric storm compressed into a single person. The crowd was awestruck by the raw power radiating from her.
Elexa pointed a single finger at her opponent—the Null.
In a blink, static condensed into a blinding, concentrated beam and surged forward like a bolt from the heavens. It roared through the air, aimed directly at the Null.
But then—he moved.
In one effortless sidestep, the Null evaded the blast. To the untrained eye, it looked like he had teleported. He hadn’t. He was just that fast.
Elexa’s eyes widened in disbelief, her mind still processing how he could’ve reacted so quickly.
A blur appeared in her vision.
And then—bam.
The Null’s fist connected cleanly with her cheek, sending her hurtling downward. She crashed into the metallic stage with a deafening impact, the ground splitting beneath her.
In the VIP section, Han watched with narrowed eyes.
He’s fast. Really fast.
Even with the Analyzer Eye activated, all Han could register was a blur before the attack landed. The Null wasn’t just strong—he was terrifyingly quick.
Han gulped. He didn’t know why, but a strange fear crept into his heart. It was a fear that seemed to echo in everyone who watched.
The Null... wasn’t just unknown. He was unknowable.
"Wow, you got me good there," Elexa muttered playfully as she rose from the crater. Despite the devastating hit, she looked mostly unfazed. The dent she left in the reinforced stage was massive, yet she stood tall, brushing off dust like it was nothing.
The crowd murmured in awe.
Her endurance must be insane.
"You’re way too strong... so playing around with you is off the table," Elexa said, her cheerful tone fading.
Her expression turned serious.
Suddenly, the electricity crackling around her intensified—no longer playful arcs, but violent surges of blue lightning that lashed at the air like furious serpents. She slowly began to rise into the sky, hovering above the arena with elegance and menace.
Then she closed her eyes.
One by one, every stray bolt of electricity that had been swirling around her body began to sink into her skin. The electric aura that had previously surrounded her vanished—except for the streaks in her long hair, which floated upward like tendrils pulled by a storm.
She stayed in that state for nearly a full minute.
Below, the Null simply stood there, unmoving. His face was hidden as always—an abyss of swirling darkness—but something in his stance suggested attentiveness. Caution, even.
Then her eyes opened.
They were glowing—no, surging—with pure electricity.
And she spoke, her voice echoing unnaturally.
"Volt Avatar."
The moment the words left her lips, the air in the arena grew heavy. Pressure slammed down like a tidal wave. The crowd held their breath as they witnessed the impossible.
Elexa’s entire body began to disintegrate.
Her skin, her hair, even her clothes—everything turned into crackling streaks of blue lightning. Within seconds, she was no longer visible. In her place, the entire arena stage was engulfed in a violent, electric storm. Dozens—no, hundreds—of electric arcs zipped through the air like living serpents, all pulsing with deadly intensity.
CRACK! BOOM! WHOOOSH!
A surge of lightning struck the Null head-on, flinging him backward. He hit the ground hard—but managed to recover mid-skid, digging his heels into the reinforced stage.
But it didn’t stop.
More electric streaks rained down from every direction. He dodged the first. Then the second. But the third struck him square in the back.
Then came the fourth.
And the fifth.
Then a dozen more.
The Null was tossed like a ragdoll—up, down, left, right—electric bolts exploding on impact with bone-shaking force. It was less a fight and more a storm of punishment. Every hit was merciless. Precise. Brutal.
From the stands, the crowd gasped in horror and awe.
Elexa was dominating.
And the Null? For the first time... he looked helpless.
How could anyone survive this?
How do you fight something that has no form—no body to counterattack?
In the VIP section, Han narrowed his eyes.
"Will he lose?" he thought.
He’d seen the Null dismantle powerful opponents before. But this was different. Being caught in Volt Avatar was like being trapped inside a living storm.
"No one can break out of that... right?"
But then doubt crept in.
"Was I wrong about him?"
"Is he not as strong as I believed?"
Elsewhere in the Class-S Hero section, the Undying Flame sat forward in his seat, arms crossed, brows furrowed.
He had seen the Null fight before—and this didn’t feel like him.
He wasn’t going all out. That much was clear.
But... was that by choice?
Or was he truly overwhelmed?
What made it worse was that Elexa had no physical form while using Volt Avatar. There was no body to target, no rhythm to anticipate, no attack pattern to exploit. It was the perfect suppression technique.
"She’s good," he admitted inwardly.
Then his gaze shifted to the glowing Evol Shard on display at the center of the arena.
"Is that why he’s here?"
"Is the Null after the Evol Shard too?"
If so, this battle was about to get far more complicated than anyone had anticipated.
Another bolt of lightning smashed into the Null, forcing him back again—his feet carving trenches into the metal flooring. Smoke and sparks crackled around him.
And then... he stood straight.
Despite the beating, he hadn’t made a sound. Not a grunt. Not a groan. Nothing.
He stood as if he felt no pain at all.
And somehow... that silence earned him even more fans.
The Null stood motionless as streaks of lightning shot toward him from all directions. The air sizzled, the ground trembled—but he didn’t flinch.
Then, with a movement so simple it seemed absurd, he extended his right hand.
CRACK!
He caught a bolt of electricity.
The crowd gasped.
"What...?" someone muttered.
But before anyone could comprehend the madness of that action, something even more unbelievable happened.
The lightning in his grasp began to converge. Other electric arcs around the arena veered toward him, drawn like moths to a flame. The streaks coiled, twisted, and collapsed in on themselves—until they began forming a human shape.
Right before everyone’s eyes... Elexa rematerialized.
Her body emerged from the energy, pixel by pixel, nerve by nerve—only to realize that the Null’s hand was already around her throat.
Elexa’s eyes widened in disbelief.
So did the crowd’s.
So did the announcer’s.
So did the Class-S heroes’.
So did Han’s.
Could anyone have done that?
No.
The answer, unspoken but unanimous, was no.
Even in her intangible lightning form, Elexa had been mediumly incapacitated—grabbed, suppressed, and brought down.
Her face was a mix of disbelief and panic. She hadn’t even imagined this was possible.
The Null stared directly into her confused eyes.
"Weak," he said, his voice like static on a broken frequency.
Then, with one brutal motion, he slammed her into the metallic stage.
BOOM!
Her body hit the floor with such force that sparks erupted around her. Her eyes rolled back. She stopped moving.
Silence gripped the stadium.
---
Elsewhere — A Secluded Coastal District
Far from the arena, where the cheers and gasps echoed through megascreens, a man dressed in black traced glowing symbols on the ground. Crimson strands of hair danced over the armored cloak that hung from his shoulders. At his feet, a massive circular formation pulsed faintly with arcane power, nestled in the shadows of a high-rise near the sea.
He stood up as he finished the final mark.
Behind him, quiet footsteps approached.
"Finally found you," came a calm voice.
The black-cloaked man turned slightly.
A young man with sun-kissed blonde hair and a warm, unassuming smile stood at the edge of the formation, clapping lightly as if amused.
Aiden.
Aiden’s eyes scanned the glowing circle etched into the ground at the man’s feet, then slowly rose to examine the crimson-trimmed cloak and the eerie aura emanating from his presence.
"You’re with the Cursed Organization, aren’t you?" Aiden asked calmly.
The man didn’t blink. His stare was calm and unwavering.
Then, with a single nod, he confirmed it.
"Yes. And not just a member... I’m an elite. A Dark Emissary."
Aiden’s eyes lit up with understanding.
Dark Emissaries— operatives of immense power.
He’d heard rumors... but never thought he’d see one in the flesh.
And yet, here one stood.
But there was something else.
Aiden studied the man’s face more closely, a faint sense of familiarity prickling at his memory.
He had seen this man before.
Yes.
By the side of Drake Voss—the high-ranking noble with unnatural influence and power.
Purple hair. Calm demeanor. Elusive presence.
The puzzle pieces clicked together in an instant:
Dark Emissary. Loyal bodyguard. Crimson accents.
Drake Voss... was the leader of the Cursed Organization.
The man they were searching for.
Aiden gave a low whistle, a smile curling on his lips.
"Well then... looks like I’ve hit the jackpot."
He folded his arms casually and locked eyes with the emissary.
"Tell me something..." he said, voice edged with curiosity.
"Aren’t you even a little worried I’ll expose your master to the Class-S heroes? That I’ll reveal who Drake Voss really is?"
The Dark Emissary—Magus—chuckled softly. It was the kind of laugh that chilled the air.
"The reason I told you all this..." he said, slowly rising into the air, eyes glowing faintly , "is because it helps me feel... less guilty after you die."
Aiden blinked. "What?"
"Let me clarify." Magus said calmly, his voice echoing unnaturally.
"What I mean is—you’ll never leave this place... alive."
