Chapter 150: Insane Jay

Bonus Chapter – Ultra.

Chaos reigned as the battle raged on. Hours had passed since the portal breach, and the city was drenched in blood and smoke. Civilians and awakened fighters alike had fallen in droves. Rank didn’t matter—be it a high-level Tank or a swift Striker. Without an endless supply of energy and solid support, they would eventually be overwhelmed.

That’s why most combat and rescue teams were formed with both Healers and Manipulators. Their presence was the only reason many squads could still hold the line.

But amidst the mayhem, one particular group stood out.

They had no Healer. No Manipulator.

Yet they were still alive—thriving, even.

They were a group of six:

A flame-wielding young man who incinerated everything in his path.

A calm girl with deadly telekinesis, tossing enemies like rag dolls.

A massive brute with a body as tough as steel.

A pale guy who looked half-dead but could transform his hands into jagged, pirate-like blades.



A quiet girl capable of compressing others’ attacks, amplifying their force before launching them back out with devastating precision.

Each one was a remarkable awakener in their own right—but none of them stole the spotlight like the sixth member.

A young man with long black hair and a faint scar etched across his cheek.

He didn’t use flashy powers.

He didn’t wield elemental destruction.

He fought with nothing but martial arts—and absolute brutality.

That man... was Jay.

After failing to reach Han due to the chaos, Jay had set his sights on a more impactful goal—eliminating the portal bosses. So far, he had taken down three. To him, it wasn’t much. But to the battlefield? It was a game-changer.

As a monstrous beast lunged at his head, Jay ducked without hesitation. He reached behind him, grabbing one of the creature’s blade-like appendages. Activating the First Jungle Art, and following it instantly with the Second, he twisted and ripped it clean off. With a swift movement, he sliced through the monster’s neck.

Another beast came at him from the side. Jay spun, his leg a blur, and delivered a devastating kick that shattered its skull. The recoil launched him high into the air.

Tenth Jungle Art: Falcon Dive.

Surging with Qi, Jay plummeted from above like a meteor. He crashed into the horde, energy swirling violently around him.

Some monsters died instantly. Others, grievously wounded, barely had time to react before Jay’s allies finished them off.

Jay landed softly, his body surfing the wave of residual Qi to absorb the impact. He closed his eyes for a moment, letting his strained muscles breathe.

Using the Jungle Arts alone was taxing—but boosting them with Qi was another level entirely. It drained him, but the results were devastating.

The five awakeners behind him stared in awe. Since the chaos began, they had followed him instinctively—and it had proven to be the best decision they could’ve made.

Jay never looked back.

He never gave orders.

But every action he took saved lives.

And whether they admitted it or not, they all held one thought deep in their hearts:

Jay was fearless.

A warrior unlike any they had ever seen.

"What’s the next step?" the telekinetic girl asked, eyes fixed on Jay.

Jay said nothing at first, his gaze scanning the horizon. After a moment of silence, he pointed toward the east. Without a word, the group nodded and followed.

To their surprise, the number of beasts they encountered along the way began to decrease. But the relief was short-lived—their quality, or rather their rank, had escalated sharply. They had gone from fighting mostly D and C-rank monsters, with the occasional B-rank, to now dealing with a steady wave of B-rank threats... and even a few A-rank nightmares.

Their pace slowed.

"Fourteenth Jungle Art: Tiger Punch," Jay muttered.

He slammed his fist into a beast’s skull—an explosion of raw force rippled through the air, obliterating not just one but several creatures in a line, like dominoes made of flesh and bone.

That level of force... it shouldn’t have been used out here unless... Jay’s eyes narrowed.

If that portal boss was still in the field, the city would’ve been reduced to rubble by now.

Jay’s instincts screamed—something wasn’t right. He kept moving, and a faint smirk tugged at his lips as the truth came into view.

Just ahead, near the ocean, a massive red portal pulsed ominously.

The five awakeners behind him froze, their mouths dry, hearts pounding. Even from here, they could feel it—the unnatural heat, the twisted pressure in the air.

Everyone knew about red portals.

They were death sentences.

No one entered one and came back out alive.

And yet, Jay was walking straight toward it.

"Wait... don’t tell me he’s actually going in?" the flame-wielding guy whispered in disbelief.

The others stared at him, equally baffled.

No one enters a red portal alone... that’s suicide.

But Jay didn’t hesitate. One step. Then another.

And then—



He stepped through.

Their jaws dropped.

No words could describe the madness.

One thought echoed in all their minds:

He’s insane. Absolutely insane.

Elsewhere in the city...

A massive inferno bloomed like a dying star.

Flames surged in a perfect sphere, 50 meters wide and climbing over 60 meters high. Everything within the radius was reduced to ash. A black plume of smoke shot into the sky like a signal of despair.

At the epicenter stood Blazer, panting, his breath ragged, his skin covered in burns and blood.

Before him, the monster he’d fought for nearly an hour—an abomination with a massive, fang-lined mouth and acidic slime for blood—crumbled into ash.

Its endurance had been ridiculous. Its acid had eaten through armor and flesh alike. But in a final blaze of fury, Blazer had unleashed his ultimate technique, pushing himself into Rage Mode to end it.

As the monster’s remains scattered into the wind, Blazer spat blood and muttered under his breath, "You bastard weren’t even worth it..." before dropping to one knee.

He was drained. Every cell in his body screamed for rest. As he leaned back to breathe, a rumbling sound made his heart skip.

More monsters? No... not now...

Turning his head, he saw a shirtless man in black trousers approaching through the smoke.

Blazer exhaled in relief, thinking reinforcements had arrived.

"Is it over?" he asked, voice weak but respectful.

The man stopped a few feet away, his expression unreadable.

"No," he said calmly. "But your life is."

Blazer’s eyes widened.

"What—?"

Before he could move, the man’s hand clamped around his neck like a vice. Effortlessly, he lifted Blazer off the ground, his grip tightening.

"W-What are you doing... Buster?" Blazer gasped, barely able to speak as the grip around his throat tightened.

Buster’s expression didn’t change. His voice was chillingly casual.

"Nothing personal," he said. "I just think the world could use one less hero. And honestly? I’m curious to see how your older brother reacts when he hears you’re dead."

Blazer’s eyes widened.

Why?

Why was this happening?

Weren’t they on the same side?

He thrashed, kicking out with what little strength he had left, but air was rapidly leaving his lungs. Everything felt surreal, yet painfully real.

In a desperate bid, he activated Rage Form, hoping the surge in power would give him the edge to break free.

But Buster didn’t flinch. His grin stretched unnaturally wide, a grotesque mask of sadistic glee. His grip tightened, muscles bulging slightly as if savoring every second of Blazer’s struggle.

This wasn’t about strategy.

This wasn’t about orders.

Buster was enjoying it.

Blazer fought with everything he had—but it wasn’t enough. What could an A-Rank do against an S-Rank monster?

There was a sickening crack.

Then a wet, grotesque pop.

Blazer’s skull exploded under the pressure. Blood, bone, and brain matter splattered across the ruined street, some of it painting Buster’s twisted smile.

He let out a soft chuckle and wiped a smear of red from his cheek.

"Took you long enough to find me," Buster said calmly, tossing Blazer’s headless corpse aside like garbage.

A few meters away stood a man in dark clothes, twin blades strapped to his back, fists clenched so tightly his knuckles turned white.



This time, his face wasn’t calm.

This time, his usual blank expression had been replaced with pure fury.

Ronan.

His eyes locked on Buster, burning with undying rage.

"Buster..." he growled, his voice low, trembling not with fear—but wrath.

The air around him trembled.

"Today," Ronan shouted, stepping forward with his blades crossed at his front.

"You die."
