Chapter 167: I AM A Vire
Chapter 167
Silver Wing couldn’t move a muscle. His body lay broken, and pain lanced through every fiber as he forced his eyes open. Blurry vision revealed the cold gleam of Metallo standing over him, spear in hand, the tip glinting ominously in the faint light.
Helplessly, he stared as the weapon descended to claim his life.
"Young master... I’m sorry. I couldn’t protect Serenya. I was... too weak..."
His lips trembled as he shut his eyes, accepting the end.
But the blow never came.
Instead, a sharp clink rang out.
The spear slammed into the floor, sending fragments of metal and dust scattering—but Silver Wing was gone.
Metallo blinked in confusion.
A blur was already retreating at blinding speed, wind swirling in its wake. A figure dashed between the debris, and on her back—Silver Wing.
"...So, that’s how you want to play it," Metallo muttered, the corners of his mouth curling into a wicked grin. He stepped onto a metallic plate that hovered beneath him, lifting him into the air as dozens of razor-sharp metal spears floated around him like hungry fangs.
"Alright then... let the hunt begin."
---
Minutes Later
"Damn it!" Shae hissed, narrowly dodging another spear that obliterated the corner of a nearby building with a deafening crash.
Blood streaked down her arms and legs, her movements sluggish, her breaths uneven. Her injuries—inflicted by both Freak Eye and Metallo—were severe, and the relentless pursuit only made things worse.
She slid between two crumbling buildings, the wall beside her erupting as another spear barely missed its mark.
On her back, Silver Wing lay motionless—bleeding, unconscious, barely alive.
Bron and Shin had both gone to the infirmary, both critically wounded. The elite members of their guild were falling, and the two emissaries of the Cursed Organization—dark harbingers of chaos—were still standing strong.
Hope was a dwindling candle in a storm.
Han... the others...
Memories surged. When the city of Preston teetered on the edge of annihilation, they had somehow pulled off a miracle. They turned despair into triumph.
Can they do it again?
Shae wasn’t sure.
But for now, she had one goal.
She gritted her teeth and pushed forward, veering toward the infirmary—if it still stood.
She had to save Silver Wing.
No matter what.
Meanwhile, somewhere in the Middle Continent...
A colossal structure loomed over the ocean, rising like an impenetrable fortress from the waves. Despite the treacherous sea beasts that roamed the depths below, the facility remained untouched—its foundation forged from the rarest and most durable materials ever discovered across the continents. This was a place designed to withstand anything.
Etched boldly across its upper deck in steel-blue lettering was a single word:
ARC.
The world’s most secure containment facility—home to the deadliest and most dangerous awakened criminals alive.
Overhead, a black airship bearing the same ominous insignia silently descended, guided through the open hangar shaft at the northern wing of the facility. It landed smoothly beside a row of identical ships.
The exit hatch hissed open. From within, three figures emerged, clad in regulation black uniforms and standard-issue helmets—not the heavy iron ones reserved for high-ranking enforcers, but enough to pass as legitimate staff.
One of them looked around in awe, eyes wide behind the tinted visor.
"So this is it... the most heavily guarded place on the planet," Aiden thought, his heart pounding in his chest.
"Awoo!" he yelped suddenly as a sharp knock landed on the back of his head.
"Ow! What was that for?" he whispered, rubbing his scalp.
Han, the figure beside him, kept his voice low. "Keep your excitement in check. We’re not tourists—we’re infiltrators. The less attention we draw, the better."
"Right... sorry," Aiden mumbled sheepishly. He’d gotten carried away. They weren’t here for sightseeing—they were here to find Ronan and disappear without a trace.
He turned to the third member of their group. "Clara’s been quiet this whole time... Hey, what are you up to?"
Clara didn’t answer immediately. Her fingers worked quickly on a concealed tablet, her gaze locked in concentration. "Busy," she muttered.
A few moments later, she produced three ID cards—freshly fabricated, complete with forged clearance, data chips, and their fake identities.
Aiden’s jaw dropped slightly. "No way... you actually pulled it off?"
He remembered scoffing earlier when Clara claimed she could replicate official ARC IDs. Now, seeing the results in her hand, he was silently impressed.
Each card bore their real faces with fabricated names and ranks—perfect down to the last digital detail.
With forged confidence, the trio approached a large checkpoint where a group of real enforcers awaited, scanning IDs and verifying credentials. Clara handed over the cards one by one.
After a tense pause, the lead enforcer nodded. "Clear. Proceed."
Aiden let out a quiet breath of relief.
"This is going way too smoothly," he thought with a grin. "We might actually pull this off like pros."
Thanks to the IDs, they were able to navigate several sectors of the massive facility with little resistance. Corridors opened, doors scanned them in, and their movements were unrestricted—until they reached a high-security wing deep in the facility.
An ominous red line stretched across the corridor floor.
A reinforced gate blocked the path forward. A terminal beeped as they approached, scanning their clearance levels—and then rejected them with a sharp tone.
Access Denied: Executive-Level Clearance Required.
"Do you have one?" Aiden asked Clara quietly, referring to the high-level clearance card.
Clara shook her head, frustrated. "I’ve tried everything. There are only ten people in this facility who have access beyond this point. And we’ve already pushed our luck."
Before anyone could respond, a deep, commanding voice rang out behind them.
"Hey! What are you three doing over there?"
They froze instantly.
Turning slowly, they saw a towering man in a jet-black uniform, skin dark as night and eyes sharp with suspicion. The golden badge on his chest shimmered ominously—he was one of the top executives.
Clara leaned in, whispering quickly, "What do we say? We’re screwed..."
Han’s hand twitched toward his side, ready for a fight. "We might have to knock him out," he muttered.
But before either could act, Aiden suddenly stepped forward with a loud, exasperated voice. "See?! I told you guys we wouldn’t be able to get through!"
Han and Clara blinked, confused.
Aiden continued walking toward the executive, shrugging in frustration. "Sorry, sir. My team’s been doubting me all day. I told them I saw the Exterminator myself, but they wouldn’t believe me. So we came down here to prove a point... and now we can’t even get past the door."
The man squinted at him, suspicion heavy in his gaze. A tense silence followed as Aiden stood tall, trying to look as enforcer-like as possible.
Sweat slid down the back of his neck.
Then the man’s face cracked into a grin, followed by a booming laugh. "You new enforcers really don’t understand how dangerous that monster is, huh?"
The trio chuckled nervously.
"Listen here," the executive said, his face turning grim. "Don’t ever try to get near that thing. The Exterminator’s not just dangerous—he’s not human. He’s death in a cage. Stay away."
"Yes, sir!" they chorused in unison, bowing slightly before walking off in the opposite direction.
Once the executive turned and disappeared down the corridor, the trio ducked behind a maintenance panel nearby.
After a few moments, Han cautiously peeked out. "Okay... he’s gone. Now what?"
"Now," Aiden said with a smirk, stepping forward confidently, "leave the rest to me."
"Wait, what’s he doing now?" Clara hissed, watching him stride toward the locked security door.
Han shrugged. "Honestly? I’ve stopped asking."
Clara followed quickly, worried he’d do something stupid—only to freeze in place as Aiden pulled out a golden clearance card... and swiped it.
Ping.
The heavy doors slid open with a mechanical hiss.
Clara and Han stared in stunned silence.
There was no doubt about it. That was the head executive’s card.
But how?
Neither of them had seen Aiden take the card.
As they passed through the doorway and locked it behind them, Clara’s gaze was still fixed on Aiden.
"What?" he asked with an exaggerated grin. "Don’t be so mesmerized by my greatness."
Clara groaned, clutching her forehead. "I can’t take this anymore. Just tell me—how did you do that?!"
Aiden turned slightly, eyes gleaming with mystery. "Simple," he said smoothly. "Have you forgotten...?"
"Forgotten what?" Clara asked, exasperated.
Aiden smirked.
"That I’m a Vire."
To be continued...
