Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, chaos reigned.

The heroes fought relentlessly, muscles aching and breathing heavy, as they tried to thin the never-ending horde of beasts that surged toward them. Yet, for every monster they felled, three more seemed to take its place. Roars, screeches, and battle cries filled the air, mingling with the scent of scorched earth and blood.

Despite the overwhelming numbers, the tide had not yet turned in the beasts’ favor—thanks in large part to the presence of several elite heroes who carved through the enemy lines like reapers in a field. With every passing second, limbs flew, blood spilled, and creatures howled in agony. But the heroes were growing tired. And the beasts? They just kept coming.

The true threat wasn’t the strength of the beasts—it was the endlessness of them.

It quickly became clear: they were pouring in from a portal... no, an unnatural portal—a swirling vortex of energy tearing into the sky like a festering wound. Whatever lay on the other side seemed inexhaustible. If the tide wasn’t stemmed soon, the battlefield would be swallowed, and everything would fall.

Shae stood near the front lines, her breath ragged but her grip steady. She swung her blue-glowing blade with deadly grace, sending out a wave of blue-colored aura that spiraled into a pair of two-tailed beasts and cleaved through them with surgical precision. Their monstrous corpses collapsed, staining the earth with thick, steaming gore.

She had long lost count of how many she had slain.

Her limbs burned. Her essence was draining. She didn’t know how much energy she had left—but she knew one thing:

She couldn’t fall.

Because if she did... then hundreds—no, thousands—would die.

Just as she was turning to face another incoming threat, her senses flared.



Danger.

Without hesitation, she ducked—narrowly avoiding a blade that sliced cleanly through the air where her neck had been a heartbeat before. Rolling away instinctively, she felt the shockwave of a massive blade crash into the ground behind her. A deep boom echoed from the impact.

Still on alert, she twisted to her feet, eyes sharp and locked on the attacker.

Standing before her was a towering man clad in heavy, blood-red armor. His face was unreadable, stern, and devoid of emotion. He rested an enormous greatblade across his shoulders—its darkened edge still vibrating from the recent swing.

"You dodged that?" he said, voice cold and devoid of amusement. "Didn’t expect that."

Shae’s eyes narrowed.

There was no mistaking it. This man... this beast in human skin... was one of the Red Vanguard.

"You all will die here," he said, his tone now laced with venom. "You were fools to invade this place."

Shae’s hand tightened on her hilt, her fury quietly igniting like a wildfire.

The Cursed.

Vile. Arrogant. Despicable.

They saw themselves as untouchable—blessed by chaos itself.

But today... they would bleed.



Her blue aura flared to life as she leapt into action. The red-armored warrior met her strike-for-strike, their blades clashing in a furious storm of sparks and raw power. Steel screamed against steel, shockwaves erupting with every collision.

Elsewhere on the battlefield, the war escalated further.

The elite heroes were locked in intense combat with more Red Vanguard members who had joined the fray. The tide had shifted from chaos to sheer unpredictability.

Shin, standing on a shattered ridge, glanced upward as a barrage of fireballs descended from the sky. Dozens of them—blazing comets of destruction—rained toward him with ferocious heat.

His expression didn’t change.

Silently, he pulled back his bowstring. Unlike before, when his arrows glowed with pink energy, this time it radiated a cold, ethereal blue.

He released.

The arrow flew barely a meter before dispersing into a burst of shimmering blue particles.

And then... the fireballs struck.

But instead of obliterating him, something miraculous happened.

From the very spot where the arrow had dispersed, a glowing barrier snapped into existence—spherical and pulsating with energy. The fireballs slammed into the shield, shaking it violently, each impact creating a blinding flash. The ground trembled beneath Shin’s feet, and dust whipped around him in violent waves.

But the barrier held.

It cracked only after the final fireball dissipated.



Then it shattered—like fragile glass under a hammer—sending blue shards scattering into the wind.

Shin remained unmoved, eyes still focused on the battlefield before him.

Shin’s eyes instantly darted toward the direction the fireballs had come from. His expression was unreadable, calm yet alert. Standing across the scorched field was a young woman clad in crimson robes, her figure slender, but the aura around her was anything but delicate. In her hands was a sleek, obsidian flute, glinting under the eerie red sky.

Without a word, she raised the flute to her lips. The moment her fingers touched the instrument, a strange glow pulsed along her throat—it shimmered a deep red, almost molten. Then, with a sharp breath, she blew into the flute.

A deafening screech followed, but it wasn’t just sound—several searing fireballs materialized from the air itself, launched directly toward Shin with deadly precision. His eyes narrowed, his grip tightening around his bow.

"Tch," he muttered, swiftly pulling back his string. In a flash, multiple pink-glowing arrows formed, ethereal and humming with energy. He loosed them in rapid succession. The arrows sliced through the air, colliding mid-flight with the incoming fireballs. A blinding burst of light and heat rippled through the air as they clashed—an explosion of pink and red flame shaking the very ground beneath them.

Smoke and embers clouded the battlefield, but before Shin could even catch his breath, the woman gave a wicked, almost gleeful grin. She blew into the flute again—this time much harder.

Dozens of fireballs surged into the air, triple the previous number. A wall of searing flame hurtled toward Shin like a meteor storm.

His eyes widened. "Damn it!" he cursed in panic.

Without wasting a second, he summoned more arrow types—this time mixing in two shimmering blue ones among the pink barrage. The moment he released them, the arrows collided with the oncoming fireballs. The result was chaotic—one-third of the flames were neutralized, but it wasn’t enough. The remaining infernos slammed into his barrier with terrifying force.
