Chapter 212: Destroy The Cursed (29)
Chapter 212
Elexa was no weakling. She had awakened at the earliest age ever recorded in history—only eight years old. From that moment onward, her power grew at a pace that terrified even seasoned heroes.
Some whispered it wasn’t growth at all, but a curse—something monstrous that should never have been born.
Her gift was electricity. Not just raw lightning summoned from the skies, but a living storm coursing endlessly through her body. It granted her unparalleled speed, reflexes beyond human limits, and strength that made her strikes shatter mountainsides.
But the true danger wasn’t her speed or strength—it was what electricity did once it invaded the body of her enemies. Nerves fried, muscles locked, and organs burned from the inside out. She wasn’t just a warrior. She was a walking generator of destruction.
That very power, her ace, had always allowed her to end battles before they began. Yet now, against the abomination before her, it felt almost useless.
The monster’s body was cloaked in dark armor that pulsed with some unnatural energy. Not only did it possess astronomical resistance to her lightning, but its raw defense was nightmarishly high.
Her previous blows had left little more than faint cracks along its armored frame. Its speed, too, nearly matched hers—on par with an elite high-ranker. And its strength... each swing carried the power to level buildings.
This was no ordinary monster. This was bad news—terrible news.
Elexa hovered in silence for a moment, electricity dancing violently around her body. Then she scoffed.
Closing her eyes, she gathered energy from the very depths of her core, compressing it until it screamed for release. When she opened her eyes again, they were alight with seething, unstable arcs of lightning.
"You might be bad news," she hissed, her voice crackling with static, "but let me show you why those who faced me called me the worst news."
Lightning flared across her hands. In her right palm, it condensed into a massive, whip-like weapon, long and serpentine, crackling with deadly voltage. In her left, it hardened into a thick azure shield, its surface pulsing as if alive.
No more holding back. The storm had been unleashed.
The battlefield erupted as her surge of lightning clashed with the monster’s wave of black energy. Shockwaves split the air, tearing apart earth and stone, turning the very atmosphere into chaos.
The clash was not merely a fight—it was calamity given form.
But Elexa wasn’t the only one locked in desperate battle. Across the field, three other dark-armored abominations wreaked havoc.
They weren’t silent killers—they tore through the lines of heroes with brutal force, and already, the casualties were piling up.
Fortunately, the elite heroes had been alerted in time. Blades flashed, spells flared, and shields rose to intercept the slaughter.
The clash of forces threatened to split the battlefield in two: chaos against order, annihilation against defiance.
Meanwhile, at the very heart of the battlefield, the leader of the Dreadknights advanced. Unlike the beasts that roared and charged, he walked with calm, deliberate steps.
His eyes never wandered, locked onto a particular figure cutting through monsters with surgical precision.
That figure was a young slayer. His left hand gripped a blade-thin needle, while his right held a broader weapon—thicker, heavier, yet still elegant.
Purple energy shimmered across the edge of the latter, giving it an eerie, otherworldly glow.
The young man’s eyes burned with the same hue, glowing with deep, seething amethyst light. His every strike was ruthless and absolute—monsters fell before him as though he were cutting threads of silk.
The Dreadlord raised a palm. Dark energy swirled, condensing with horrifying density. The air itself warped and twisted under the sheer pressure of the gathered force.
Space distorted, as though reality itself rejected the existence of such concentrated darkness.
The Dreadlord fixed its crimson, burning eyes on the young hero, utterly unaware of the looming danger. With a low growl, the monster thrust its fist forward.
A dark sphere of condensed energy erupted, shooting outward with impossible speed. In the next instant, it expanded into a catastrophic wave—obliteration itself rushing across the battlefield.
A deafening boom shattered the air, and everything caught within the blast was annihilated. Beasts, terrain, even the very air itself was shredded under the destructive force of the Dreadlord’s attack.
Yet amid the choking smoke and ruined ground, the Dreadlord’s eyes flickered with confusion.
The boy it had targeted stood there, untouched. His deep violet eyes glowed faintly, fixed on the monster without an ounce of fear.
Ronan.
Truth be told, had he not activated his Switch Skill at the last possible moment, that attack would have left him gravely injured—if not erased him outright. But luck or not, he was still standing. And now, his gaze was set on the true enemy.
The lesser beasts, once obstacles, had been obliterated by the Dreadlord itself. What remained was a confrontation he couldn’t avoid.
Just then, the system’s cold, metallic chime rang in his ears.
[New Quest Acquired!]
Quest: Defeat the Dreadlord and put an end to its reign of terror.
Reward: ??? (Hidden)
Failure: Death.
Ronan exhaled slowly. Difficult? Absolutely. But when had anything in his life ever been easy?
With a blink, he vanished—his figure replaced by a hovering, razor-thin silver needle dancing in the air.
---
Meanwhile, deep within a vast cavern, chaos reigned.
Aiden and Clara battled against an abomination whose six monstrous tails lashed outward with relentless fury.
Each strike carved through stone and steel alike, and each sting unleashed an elemental eruption that threatened to overwhelm them.
"Damn it!" Aiden cursed, narrowly sidestepping another strike. His body gleamed obsidian-black, his Dark Essence Mode surging at full capacity.
Strength and speed coursed through his limbs, every blow now laced with corrosive energy that made him far deadlier than before.
And yet—despite the surge of power—his attacks barely scratched the towering scorpion-beast.
Its tails shimmered in yellow and silver arcs. With a whip-crack, two of them shot forward like executioner’s blades.
Aiden dropped low on all fours, then launched upward in a sharp rise. The silver tail smashed into the ground where he had stood.
The world detonated.
Silver lightning erupted across the cavern floor, crawling in jagged veins of destruction, chasing him like a predator hungry for blood.
But Aiden was already airborne.
The scorpion’s second tail twisted violently and lunged toward him, releasing a chilling frost that turned the very air into ice.
The freezing aura spread outward like a storm, but the darkness cloaking Aiden’s body resisted it, holding back the cold with sheer oppressive energy.
With a sharp flick of his hand, he caught the tail mid-strike. His grip tightened, dark essence writhing around his arm. In the next instant, he yanked the massive appendage downward, slamming it into the ground with brute force.
Before the beast could retaliate, Aiden’s back split open, and something monstrous extended outward—a new ability, born from the reward he earned after surviving Han’s berserk rampage.
A limb, long and blade-like, unfurled. At its end gleamed a saber-shaped weapon, darkness crawling along its length until the gleaming edge turned jet black.
The air hissed as it cut through, and with a single downward strike—
SHRRAAK!
The beast shrieked, a harrowing, piercing cry that shook the cavern. One of its tails had been severed completely, crashing lifelessly to the stone floor.
Clara’s eyes sharpened. She didn’t waste the fleeting opportunity.
"Now!" she shouted, her hands glowing as she summoned a fully charged Omega Beam. The energy sphere crackled in her palms, then erupted forward in a blinding torrent.
The scorpion slammed its yellow tail into the ground, raising an enormous wall of jagged earth to block the blast. But Clara had anticipated that.
Her body spun backward twice in midair, momentum fueling her strike as she unleashed not one, but two more Omega Beams, both stronger than the first.
The cavern roared as the triple onslaught struck. The first beam cracked the wall. The second shattered it. The third tore straight through, continuing its path until it collided with the yellow tail still embedded in the ground.
The resulting explosion was devastating. Shards of stone erupted like shrapnel, and the beast’s agonized screech thundered across the cavern as its yellow tail was mangled beyond recognition.
Aiden didn’t hesitate. With the elongated bladed limb still hovering behind him, he dashed forward in a blur of speed. Darkness surged. His strike carved through the wounded tail like it was paper—severing it cleanly.
The colossal scorpion staggered backward, its massive frame shaking the cavern floor. From six tails, only four remained.
Clara exhaled, a small smile tugging beneath her armored faceplate. The scorpion’s greatest threat had always been its tails. If they could cut down the rest, the beast’s downfall was inevitable.
At least in theory.
Because in reality, landing those final blows would be the hardest part of all.
Her eyes flickered briefly to Quint. He stood at the rear, his body swaying as though exhaustion was about to collapse him. But Clara wasn’t fooled.
Behind his exhausted gaze burned something darker—murderous intent, sharp and patient, waiting for its chance.
