Chapter 239Meanwhile, back on the battlefield, the chaos that had raged for hours was finally settling.

The blood-soaked plains, once swarming with Red Vanguards, now lay silent—bodies and shattered armor strewn across the broken earth.

Every monstrous beast that had descended upon them had been cut down, from lesser creatures to towering abominations. Even the dreaded Dreadknight and their ruthless leader, the Dreadlord, had fallen.

Only scattered remnants remained—small clusters of beasts still lashing out in desperation.

Yet their numbers dwindled with every passing second. Compared to the madness at the start of this war, the battlefield now felt almost... calm.

Still, Ronan’s instincts screamed otherwise.

"Why does it feel like all of this was just a warm-up?" he muttered, his breath uneven, his eyes narrowing.

The purple glow in his gaze pulsed faintly—dim, then bright, then dim again. That sickening, gnawing feeling inside him only grew stronger, clawing at his chest. Something was coming. Something far worse.

And his intuition was not misplaced.

From within the smoke and ruin, a figure clad in dark armor emerged. His presence bent the chaos around him as though the battlefield itself recoiled from his steps. His eyes never strayed, locked solely on one person.

Elexa.

Her long blue hair whipped wildly in the wind as arcs of crackling lightning danced across her body.

Surrounded by slaughter, she tore through beast after beast as if they were paper, her lightning-infused strikes reducing monsters to ash.

Each movement was graceful, merciless, and commanding. She wasn’t just strong—she was untouchable. Clearly one of the elites.

The armored figure’s lips curved into a grim smile beneath his helm.

"I’ll get rid of her first."

As he spoke, his gauntleted fists glowed with radiant yellow light. The earth beneath his feet trembled, shifting unnaturally. Then, in the space of a single step, the world folded beneath him.

The ground warped and twisted, carrying him forward. One moment he stood meters away, the next he was directly in front of Elexa—no distance traversed, only erased.

Elexa’s eyes widened in brief surprise, but her body didn’t hesitate. With speed honed from countless battles, she thrust her hand forward, releasing a spear of raging blue lightning.

But the armored warrior responded with nothing more than a flick of his wrist.

BOOM!

A colossal pillar of earth erupted between them, intercepting the lightning with crushing finality. Sparks hissed and scattered, illuminating the cracks in the stone. Elexa froze, just for a fraction of a second.

Earth against lightning. The direct counter.

And yet... this wasn’t supposed to be possible. Elexa’s lightning was no ordinary power—it was lightning that had shattered boulders and incinerated steel.

No earth manipulator she had ever faced could withstand it. Yet this man had not only blocked her attack... he had done so effortlessly.

That brief moment of disbelief was all he needed.

The earth at his feet shifted again, launching him upward like a living catapult. Platforms of stone formed beneath each step, carrying him higher until he was level with her in the air. His fist, still blazing with condensed golden radiance, burned with destructive power.

Danger surged through Elexa’s veins like ice water. Dodging now was nearly impossible. But retreat was not in her nature anyway.

With a roar, she summoned every ounce of lightning she could muster, condensing it into her right fist.

Crackling arcs of blue lightning coiled violently around her hand as she met his strike head-on.

Their fists collided.

The world convulsed.

A blinding flash consumed the sky as a shockwave exploded outward, flattening everything in a wide radius.

Stone shattered, air screamed, and bodies—friend and foe alike—were thrown violently back by the impact.

For a single heartbeat, nothing moved. The world seemed to freeze.

Then came the sound—CRACK.

Elexa’s face twisted in agony. Her arm, the one that had met his strike, trembled uncontrollably.

A deafening fracture rang out as pain surged through her body. Her bones had given way under the sheer force of his blow.

Her right arm—fractured.

She staggered midair, gritting her teeth, sparks scattering uselessly around her form. The overwhelming pain threatened to drag her down, but her burning glare never left the dark emissary before her.

Madi didn’t waste a second. His fist lashed out again, the air itself trembling under the force. But Elexa was no longer caught off guard.

From their very first exchange, she had already judged the truth: this dark emissary was stronger than her—far stronger in raw might.

That alone was shocking, yet she knew one thing with certainty.

He could never be faster.

Her body flashed with sharp arcs of blue light as she twisted midair, narrowly evading his second strike. Sparks scattered across the battlefield.

Madi’s face darkened. He knew well the difficulty of battling lightning users, and Elexa was not just any wielder—she was a renowned one. A mistake against her speed could mean death. But brute force was never his only weapon.

He raised a single hand, voice cutting through the clash like a cold blade.

"Die."

The earth trembled.

At his feet, countless stone pebbles quivered before rising into the air as if dragged by unseen strings. In the blink of an eye, they shot upward in unison, ripping the air apart.

The speed was terrifying, their flight so violent that each pebble broke the sound barrier, detonating thunderous booms as they chased their single target: Elexa.

Her face grew grim. An instinct deeper than reason screamed at her—this wasn’t just danger. This was death.
