Chapter 165: Battle Of Frost (2)
Chapter 165
Freezer had faced countless opponents in his life—some even wielding ice abilities like his own—but none had ever made him feel the kind of dread that gripped his chest when he was trapped inside that icy ring.
If there hadn’t been a weak point in the structure, he might never have broken free. One thing was now clearer than ever: if that young girl had full control over her power, this wouldn’t be a battle—it would be his grave.
He stared at the frozen sphere with a grim, murderous expression.
He couldn’t allow someone so dangerous to live. Not now. Not ever.
Clenching his palm, he muttered coldly, "Shatter."
Nothing happened.
He scowled and tried again, repeating, "Shatter."
Still, the icy sphere remained intact, unyielding.
After muttering the command a dozen times in frustration, Freezer finally growled and conjured three long, jagged icicles. With a sharp flick, he hurled them at the sphere. They struck the surface, creating several cracks—but it still didn’t break.
Undeterred, he formed three more icicles, ready to launch them.
Then he looked up.
His heart skipped a beat.
Inside the cracked ice, the girl’s eyes were open—every part of them glowing a fierce, unnatural blue. No whites, just pure energy.
The cracks spread in an instant.
The sphere shattered with a hiss.
The girl slowly floated into the air, her glowing, emotionless eyes locked on him—cold and inhuman.
Panic surged through Freezer. In desperation, he launched the three icicles at her.
But what happened next chilled him more than the cold ever could.
Without moving a muscle, the girl took control of the projectiles in midair—then reversed them.
The same icicles came flying back, now filled with a terrifying force.
Freezer’s eyes went wide. He hastily formed a massive ice dome as a shield.
Too late.
The attack slammed into his dome, effortlessly destroying it, and drove into him with brutal force.
He cried out as searing pain ripped through his body, blood spraying into the air as he staggered back, barely staying on his feet.
He stared at the girl in horror. She was floating calmly, like a silent reaper.
This isn’t a girl anymore... he thought, shaken. She’s death itself.
Just moments ago, he had defeated her without effort. Now, she could end him with a thought.
You can’t win this. Run.
That was the only command his body obeyed.
And so, he did.
He turned and bolted, sprinting with everything he had. For nearly two full minutes, he ran at top speed, covering miles of terrain. Only once he felt the distance was enough did he finally slow and breathe a shaky sigh of relief.
"This was supposed to be easy..." he muttered. "I almost died back there..."
"I’ve gotta get the hell out of here—now."
He turned.
And froze.
Not because of ice.
But because standing just two meters in front of him, her blue eyes glowing with the same dreadful light, was the girl.
Laura.
There was no sound. No footsteps. No signal.
She had just appeared.
His mouth went dry. In pure desperation, he spun to flee again—
Boom.
A towering pillar of ice erupted behind him, sealing his escape.
Freezer slammed his fists against the icy column again and again, but no matter how hard he struck, he couldn’t even scratch the frost-coated surface. His knuckles bled, his breath came in ragged gasps, and desperation clung to him like a second skin.
With no hope of breaking the ice barrier, he turned toward Laura—his wide eyes reflecting a mix of madness and fear.
He wasn’t going to die here.
Not now.
Never.
With a furious roar, he conjured two long ice-forged swords and lunged at Laura, aiming straight for her throat.
Each step he took felt heavier, but the blades inched closer and closer to their mark.
He dared to hope.
Crack.
A sudden pang echoed through the air.
The icy blades stopped just inches from her neck—then shattered into glimmering dust, disintegrating before his eyes.
Freezer barely had time to process what had happened before cold surged up his arms. His hands froze solid.
Then his legs.
Then his torso.
In seconds, only his head remained unfrozen.
"No... No, no, no!" he choked, struggling to summon his ice powers—to do anything.
Nothing came.
Laura stepped forward. Her boots crunched against the frost-covered ground with every step, slow and deliberate. Her eyes, still glowing that ominous blue, showed no emotion—only emptiness.
She no longer looked like a girl.
She looked like something else.
Something beyond human.
"P-please!" Freezer screamed, panic taking full control. "Please don’t kill me! I swear—I’ll disappear! I’ll leave this city, this region, this entire continent if I have to!"
His voice trembled.
Tears streamed down his cheeks.
"I’ll do anything you ask! Just—just spare my life!"
He looked at her with wild hope, as if begging a deity for mercy.
Laura stopped just a step away.
Then, finally, she spoke—her voice flat, almost divine in its detachment.
"Will you really do whatever I ask?"
Freezer’s eyes lit up. He nodded furiously. "Yes! Absolutely! Anything! Just name it—I swear on my life, I’ll obey!"
She looked at him, blank and unreadable.
Then she answered.
"Simple. I want you to die."
His mouth opened in horror, but before he could scream, Laura raised her hand and gently placed it atop his head.
His skull froze instantly.
With one swift twist, she snapped it from his body like a brittle branch.
The lifeless corpse collapsed backward—headless, broken, and still.
The glow in Laura’s eyes faded.
Silence returned.
Then she dropped to her knees, staring at her trembling hands—caught between wonder and terror.
She had killed someone.
Not just anyone.
Freezer.
The monster.
The assassin.
The nightmare.
And yet... she didn’t feel like she was the one who had done it.
"I... remember everything," she whispered, still staring at her fingers. "But it didn’t feel like... me."
Her voice trembled now, softer than snow falling in the dead of night.
"How the hell did I do all that?"
---
Somewhere Else...
A flurry of flashing steel danced through the air, slicing apart space itself.
The battlefield pulsed with chaotic energy, winds howling from the sheer force of the ongoing clash.
A sleek rapier gleamed under the pressure, cutting deep into the gut of a silver-winged figure.
But no blood came—only glimmering silver liquid, dripping like mercury.
Then the figure burst into silver particles, vanishing like smoke in moonlight.
Metallo didn’t flinch.
His twin rapiers spun in his hands, gliding effortlessly like extensions of his soul. Another target appeared.
He lunged.
But then—clang!
A massive metallic shield sprang into existence behind him, intercepting an incoming blow that could’ve been fatal. Sparks erupted.
Metallo pivoted, his blades twisting mid-strike. They melted and morphed into shapeless blades of fluid metal.
With a fluid motion, he slashed across the throat of another silver-winged enemy—this one dispersing into vapor as well, nothing more than a phantom of silver smoke.
The last remaining Silver Wing—the true one—hovered above the battlefield, a deep frown carved into his face. He clenched his fists. If he hadn’t attacked with his clones from the start, he might already be dead.
But what made Metallo truly terrifying wasn’t just his speed or skill.
It was his complete dominion over metal—any metal in his environment, even the unseen traces buried beneath the earth or hidden in the air. That was what made him a nightmare.
Silver Wing exhaled sharply. He didn’t want to use his final move. If he did, he’d be drained—left vulnerable and powerless.
But if it could take Metallo down?
It was worth it.
Without hesitation, Silver Wing soared higher into the sky. His arms rose, hands forming a perfect triangle in front of him. His radiant silver wings unfurled behind him, glowing like blades of moonlight, giving him an almost divine presence.
His eyes snapped open.
Power surged through his wings, spiraling into his body. A silver glow ignited at his back, rushing forward and condensing between his hands.
Then—he released it.
A cataclysmic beam of destructive energy shot from the triangle, screaming toward Metallo with terrifying speed.
Sensing the danger, Metallo slammed both palms to the ground. Instantly, layers of molten steel surged up and around him, forming dome after dome—fortified walls of reinforced metal.
BOOOOOOOOM.
The sky shattered with light.
A shockwave tore through the landscape, flattening trees and cracking the earth for kilometers. The explosion consumed everything within a four-kilometer radius in blinding silver light.
For minutes, nothing moved. Smoke and dust swirled. Silence reigned.
High above, Silver Wing hovered weakly, his chest heaving. His body trembled with exhaustion—he’d poured every last ounce of energy into that final technique. His vision blurred, but he forced himself to look down.
He needed confirmation.
He needed to see the corpse.
For a brief moment, the battlefield looked empty. No movement. No sign of Metallo. Relief began to wash over him—until he froze.
A silhouette emerged from the smoke. Human. Standing tall.
And then, through the clearing dust, Metallo stepped out, his twin rapiers resting casually on his shoulders, and a wide, cocky grin stretched across his face.
"You almost got me there," he said, eyes gleaming with mischief.
Silver Wing’s heart dropped.
He’s unscathed.
No wounds. No burns. Not even a scratch.
Metallo slowly raised a single finger, pointing directly at him.
Silver Wing’s instincts screamed.
He turned, trying to fly away—only to feel his wings seize up. He flapped once. Twice.
Nothing.
His body didn’t move.
Panic surged through him.
Then realization struck like a thunderbolt. He looked back down at Metallo—who was still grinning, wider than ever.
"You seem confused," Metallo said smugly. "But you shouldn’t be."
His finger curled slowly.
"After all... your wings are made of metal, aren’t they?"
Silver Wing’s eyes widened in horror.
Metallo’s voice dropped to a whisper, laced with sadistic glee.
"Looks like today’s your unlucky day. I’m going to rip you apart—from the inside out."
