153: Chapter 156 Freshman Registration
Qi Fei immediately gave a thumbs-up. He had prepared this car for Lu Qingyu as soon as he learned he was coming to school. It was hard to buy even abroad, and he had to wait over a month to get it.
"Boss, you have great taste. What do you think? This car is pretty good, right?"
Su Jixing leaned against the doorway wearing an apron, chuckling secretly. "Boss, this fluorescent green looks quite nice."
Lu Qingyu: "...It's so 'nice' it's practically a crime against humanity. More importantly, I'm only two blocks away from school. Are you serious?"
Qi Fei: "Boss, don't just look at it being two blocks; it's not that close. If you walk, you have to wind through the streets, and it'll take half an hour."
Lu Qingyu said helplessly, "Is it possible that the transportation I mentioned has two wheels and doesn't need gas or electricity?"
Qi Fei: "Ah, isn't that a bicycle?"
Lu Qingyu: "So, can you get me a bicycle?"
Qi Fei: "...Boss, if you drive this car there, you'll definitely look incredibly cool. A bunch of girls will be chasing you by then."
Lu Qingyu: "Forget it. I need to immerse myself in my studies. Women will only distract me."
Qi Fei couldn't understand. Other kids their boss's age liked to eat, drink, play, and date, so why did their boss only like studying and making money?
Seeing Lu Qingyu's persistence, Qi Fei had no choice but to agree.
"Alright, then Boss, I'll park this car in the garage for you. Wait for me; I'll go find you a bicycle right now."
Qi Fei had seen a shop selling bicycles on his way here, so he headed there immediately. He returned a short while later with one for Lu Qingyu.
In the university town, some students gained admission through family donations to the school. These people had their own small circles, and every one of them was either wealthy or influential.
Anna and her group were sophomores. On the first day of the semester, she was responsible for receiving freshmen.
Early in the morning, Anna went to school excitedly. She happened to run into Jenny and asked Jenny to accompany her in receiving the freshmen.
When no one was around, the two of them chatted.
"Jenny, I saw a very cool fluorescent green Ferrari drive into your neighborhood. Do you know whose car it is?"
Jenny also lived in the wealthy area nearby. Anna's family background was average, and she lived at the school, but she liked to go for a morning run near the wealthy area every day.
There were many rich people in that neighborhood, and they mostly knew each other. A Ferrari SP3 would cost at least $4 million to buy. Who could it be?
"I haven't heard of any friends buying a new car."
Anna had always wanted to find a rich boyfriend. "Could it be Stan? His family is so rich; maybe his father bought it for him."
Jenny and Stan had been classmates since high school. Back then, Stan was already driving luxury cars, but he had never driven one this expensive.
Jenny: "I don't think so. There are many rich people in that neighborhood; it's not necessarily Stan."
Anna: "Then you didn't see it. That car is truly beautiful—the cool color, the sleek lines. It must be something only a young person would like. I think it's Stan; he has the best taste."
Anna was chattering away when Stan happened to arrive.
"Girls, I heard someone mention my name."
Anna's eyes lit up when she saw Stan.
"Hi, Stan! We were talking about a luxury car. A Ferrari SP3 drove into your neighborhood this morning. I bet the owner of that car is you."
Stan arched an eyebrow. A Ferrari SP3—that was his dream car. With all the configurations, it would cost at least four million dollars.
Stan originally wanted to deny it, but Anna kept flattering him from the side.
Anna: "For such an expensive car, in this school, only your father would buy it for you, Stan. I really envy you for having such a good father."
The denial Stan had on the tip of his tongue was swallowed back down. His vanity made him admit it directly.
"That's right, my father bought that car for me."
Anna: "Oh my god, I guessed right! It really is yours! Stan, can you take us for a spin in that car?"
Seeing the envious and admiring looks in Anna and Jenny's eyes, Stan's vanity soared.
"Uh, my older cousin liked that car, so I lent it to him. I can't take you guys for now."
Anna: "Stan, you're so kind! You even lent such an expensive car to someone else."
Stan: "It's nothing. I have plenty of other cars."
By now, Stan was surrounded by five or six girls. The group stood near the freshman registration area, talking and laughing.
At ten in the morning, it was time to report. Lu Qingyu rode his blue bicycle toward the university town.
Following the signs, he arrived at the freshman registration desk. Anna was responsible for leading freshmen to get familiar with the campus and pick up books. Lu Qingyu happened to be in the group she was in charge of.
When Lu Qingyu arrived on his bike, the three of them were chatting heatedly. Anna was testing the waters to see if Stan would be her boyfriend, only to be interrupted by Lu Qingyu.
"Excuse me, I'm a freshman this year. Where do I pick up my new books?"
Anna's confession to Stan was suddenly cut off. She turned around irritably, her tone originally quite sharp, but it instantly softened upon seeing Lu Qingyu's face. She hadn't expected such a handsome guy.
It had been a long time since she'd seen such a handsome Asian face. If she weren't trying to pursue Stan, she would have wanted this person to be her boyfriend.
However, she knew Stan liked Jenny. Since Jenny wouldn't accept her, it would be nice to get to know other male students, especially the handsome ones.
Anna immediately became interested in Lu Qingyu. "Hello, I'm a sophomore in Finance Class A, Professor Kafar's class. Let me lead the way for you."
Lu Qingyu: "You can call me Lu. Sorry to trouble you."
Anna's mood shifted so quickly that it made Stan feel a bit uncomfortable. Anna had always liked him like a devoted follower, but now she was showing interest in someone else right in front of him.
Stan said to Jenny, who was still there, "Anna is actually interested in a yellow-skinned kid. How embarrassing."
Jenny didn't respond. She hadn't even heard what Stan said because her eyes were also fixed on Lu Qingyu.
There was a special aura about this person that she really liked—it felt like love at first sight.
Anna and Lu Qingyu had only walked three steps when Jenny caught up.
"Anna, I don't have anything to do right now. Let me go with you guys."
The way Jenny's eyes were glued to Lu Qingyu was too obvious. Stan hadn't expected Jenny to be interested in this kid too. His anger flared up instantly. He had been pursuing Jenny for over a year and she hadn't agreed, yet this yellow-skinned kid dared to seduce his woman. He would show him what he was made of.
