229: Iron Man
Thus, the release of iron man went incredibly smoothly.
On the first day of its release, during the premiere, Lu Qingyu, Su Jixing, and Donnie sat low-key in the back row of the cinema, while the front rows were filled with invited guests.
Moray also came today and, like Lu Qingyu and the others, sat low-key in the back.
The promotion for iron man was high-profile, and the subject matter was novel to everyone, but no one truly had high expectations for it. This was not only because it was a hero character people hadn't explored before, but also because the lead actor was Donnie.
Ruiduo was an entertainment reporter. A few years ago, half of the top ten negative news stories about Donnie were written by her. She simply disliked Donnie, thinking of him as a playboy.
Hearing that Donnie was filming again, she came to watch him with the attitude of seeing a disaster unfold, her phone's memo open so she wouldn't miss a single word of criticism for the movie.
Inside the theater, all the lights were turned off, the advertisements on the big screen ended, and the movie began in earnest.
At the very beginning of the film, Tony Stark, played by Donnie, appeared. He was a second-generation rich kid who inherited hundreds of billions of dollars at birth, a dandy who spent his days dating different socialites and living a wild, unrestrained life.
Looking at Tony Stark's appearance in the movie, Ruiduo couldn't help but laugh; was this movie adapted based on Donnie himself?
Ruiduo traced a large 'X' on the armrest of her cinema seat. She guessed that the movie would next show this playboy going bankrupt for some reason, repenting, starting a new business, and then becoming a billionaire again. This kind of plot was so cliché it was everywhere; there was no originality at all.
Until the plot began to deviate from what everyone expected. Donnie's character was kidnapped, and when he woke up, he was trapped in a dilapidated cave. Shrapnel from an explosion had lodged in his chest. To save him, another scientist installed an Arc Reactor in his chest to hold the shrapnel back, but the toxic palladium inside would also kill him.
The audience in the cinema had now cleared their minds and were following the plot completely.
Facing this predicament, Donnie and another person worked together to build a weapon in the dilapidated environment. When the scientist, who had promised to leave with him, died, something in Donnie's eyes changed.
After escaping, Tony went from his former life of daily debauchery to having a different goal.
From the moment Tony Stark started researching the armor with others, the audience felt like Granny Liu entering the Grand View Garden, wide-eyed with wonder.
At this point, they found it very interesting, and when Tony designed the complete armor and flew into the sky, the audience couldn't help but cover their mouths in excitement.
[Oh my god, this is so cool.]
[This armor is amazing, I want one too.]
[Wow, I really want to be Tony Stark.]
[Heavens, that small suit of armor actually has such great power.]
From the start of the movie, Donnie had been nervously watching everyone's reactions. This was his first work after being away from the film industry for so long, and he needed everyone's approval.
By the time the movie was halfway through, not a single person in the audience had left. They laughed at the good parts and gasped at the cool ones. Only then did Donnie calm down a bit and feel less nervous.
Meanwhile, Ruiduo had long forgotten what she was supposed to write and could only stare intently at the big screen. She had clearly disliked Donnie before, hating his unrestrained and wild nature, but why did she find him somewhat adorable while watching this movie?
The people in the cinema became more and more engaged and liked it more as they watched. The cool special effects made the fight scenes incredibly exciting, and everyone watched with great satisfaction.
At the end, to avoid causing public panic, the people from S.H.I.E.L.D. wrote a script for Tony, asking him to claim at the press conference that the "iron man" wasn't him.
Seeing this, many people were already sighing. Just like in all hero movies, once the crisis is resolved, the hero must remain anonymous because the world doesn't allow the existence of things beyond common understanding.
People couldn't quite describe the feeling, but they subconsciously felt a bit uncomfortable.
However, up to this point, everyone was very satisfied with the movie. They were willing to give it a score of over eight; it was indeed a good film.
On the screen, Tony stood before the reporters in a black suit, holding the script S.H.I.E.L.D. had written for him.
Tony stared at the script and muttered to himself. The hundreds of reporters below knew that this press conference wouldn't yield any results; it was just held to brush everyone off.
At this moment, the audience had the same thought as the reporters in the movie.
Until Tony said those words: "I am iron man."
The reporters in the film immediately erupted into a frenzy, and for a split second, the theater audience felt a rush of excitement surge to their heads.
The entire audience stood up and screamed, suddenly feeling a sense of pure, unadulterated thrill.
Giving honor to whom it belongs—since he was the one who saved everyone, everyone should know.
[Holy crap, holy crap, holy crap!]
[He admitted he's iron man!]
[Ahhhh, this is so satisfying!]
The commotion in the cinema spiraled out of control, and it could even be heard outside the theater. Anyone who didn't know better would have thought a concert was being held inside.
Donnie was stunned for a moment, wondering why everyone was suddenly so excited. When he finally snapped out of it, he realized that the applause and cheers seemed to be for him.
His movie was a success!
He was loved by the audience again!
For a moment, Tony was also so excited he didn't know what to say. Lu Qingyu was still sitting beside him; he wasn't as excited as the audience, but there was a faint smile in his eyes.
Donnie couldn't help but put his hand on Lu Qingyu's shoulder.
"Lu, thank you."
There were tears in Donnie's eyes. No one knew his feelings at this moment; when his life was at its most desperate, someone had given him a chance and helped him succeed. He felt as if he had been born again.
The cinema was too noisy, and Lu Qingyu couldn't hear what Donnie said at all, but seeing Donnie's expression, it must have been something moving.
Lu Qingyu patted Donnie's shoulder in return.
The movie finished playing, and at the end, there was a promotion for the next movie about to be released.
The audience was won over by this film and could hardly wait to see the next one.
When the lights in the cinema came on, someone spotted Donnie and shouted.
"Tony Stark is here!"
Countless audience members looked back, and the moment they saw Donnie, they shouted Tony Stark's name.
In their hearts now, Donnie was Tony Stark.
Donnie could no longer hold back his tears.
