217: Iron Man

Lu Qingyu had been watching this side for a long time. The moment he saw Donnie, his eyes lit up. Although there was no Marvel in this world, there was the actor who played iron man.

Lu Qingyu suddenly pulled Su Jixing excitedly, and the two stood not far from Antonio and Donnie's group, eavesdropping.

Lu Qingyu took two drinks from a waiter's hand and handed one to Su Jixing.

Then he turned sideways, pretending to chat with Su Jixing.

Su Jixing saw Lu Qingyu's state and knew that he must have taken a liking to someone. He looked around, and the closest group to them was Donnie's.

Su Jixing, familiar with the routine, followed Lu Qingyu to gossip.

Lu Qingyu witnessed the entire process of Donnie being rejected and humiliated by these people from beginning to end.

Su Jixing took this opportunity to specifically check Donnie's information.

"Boss, Donnie comes from an acting family. He started acting at a young age and was once praised as the most talented child star, but his personality is too wild and unrestrained, offending many directors and producers. He is currently blacklisted by a major director."

Lu Qingyu: Wild and unrestrained? Isn't that Tony Stark!

Su Jixing: "Boss, you've taken a liking to him?"

After reading the information, Su Jixing suggested, "This person is too casual. He can skip work to accompany his girlfriend. I don't think it's good to use him."

Lu Qingyu: "Acting recklessly based on one's talent and popularity is indeed too much. Someone needs to rein him in."

Su Jixing: "Boss, you're not going to say that person is you, are you?"

Lu Qingyu said with a smirk, "I specialize in curing all kinds of defiance, but these are not the most important things."

Su Jixing looked at Lu Qingyu: "Then what's the most important thing?"

"How's his character?"

Su Jixing: "Although he's quite wild and unrestrained, his character is still good."

Lu Qingyu: "Is he expensive now?"

Su Jixing checked the Actors' Guild website. Donnie had already fallen to an artist beyond the third tier: "I think he's super cheap."

Lu Qingyu said decisively, "I've taken a liking to him. Sign him, absolutely sign him. Make him sign a bond of servitude."

Su Jixing: "..."

One must know that in his previous life, iron man's salary was the most expensive among all Marvel heroes, reaching a maximum of 75 million US dollars.

When Lu Qingyu saw Donnie being humiliated by Dino and then walking out of the banquet hall, he knew his opportunity had arrived.

He led Su Jixing to Donnie and said, "Our movie is called iron man. It's a series that might have 3-4 parts or even more."

Although Donnie was meeting Lu Qingyu for the first time, he knew who he was. He was very popular online, comparable to a celebrity.

Donnie really liked their company's internal TV series, game of thrones; he absolutely adored it.

Upon hearing Lu Qingyu invite him, Donnie even thought he had misheard.

"You... what did you say?"

Lu Qingyu handed his business card to Donnie: "I said, I'd like to invite Mr. Donnie to be the lead in my new movie. If Mr. Donnie is interested, let's set a time to meet at our company tomorrow to discuss it in detail."

Donnie was somewhat incredulous. One moment he was being shunned by the film industry, the next he received an invitation from Magic Paradise.

Being rejected for so long had made Donnie somewhat insecure about himself.

Lu Qingyu was Asian, and Donnie feared that Lu Qingyu was unaware of his past when he extended the invitation. Although doing so might lose him the opportunity, Donnie still wanted to first inform Lu Qingyu about being blacklisted by a major director. Otherwise, if they met tomorrow, finalized the project, and then Lu Qingyu found out and canceled his qualification, the blow would be too great for him.

"Mr. Lu, um, you might not know much about me. I'm actually... my reputation isn't very good, you know?"

Lu Qingyu smiled: "Are you referring to being blacklisted by the director?"

An incredulous look appeared in Donnie's eyes. He actually knew, and he still invited him despite knowing.

Donnie's heart raced; he desperately needed an opportunity right now.

"Please believe me, I've turned over a new leaf."

Lu Qingyu didn't speak. It didn't matter if he hadn't changed; he specialized in curing all kinds of defiance. If you haven't changed, I can help you change.

Donnie clutched Lu Qingyu's business card:

"I... I have time. When can I go to your company tomorrow?"

Lu Qingyu: "Tomorrow at 10:00 AM."

After making the appointment with Lu Qingyu, Donnie left first. On his way back, he felt like he was floating. Although it wasn't confirmed whether he would star or what the script was like, this matter inexplicably gave him hope.

This hope acted like an adrenaline shot.

After Donnie left, Lu Qingyu and Su Jixing stayed in the venue for another half an hour. During that time, they approached several directors, but all were rejected.

Many insiders knew about Lu Qingyu's bet with misspelling of Warner, and they didn't want to stand against misspelling of Warner.

Lu Qingyu hesitated, knowing there would be no more gains by staying. However, he was already content with having snatched Donnie tonight.

The next morning, Donnie woke up refreshed. He arrived at the Magic Paradise company early, so a Staff Member took Donnie on a tour of the Magic Paradise company.

Looking at the harmonious atmosphere within the company, Donnie trusted the company even more. He believed that a place capable of producing excellent works like game of thrones and avatar must have artistic aspirations.

At ten o'clock, Lu Qingyu came down from a meeting upstairs. The secretary led Donnie to the conference room. Seeing Lu Qingyu enter, Donnie immediately stood up to shake Lu Qingyu's hand.

Lu Qingyu's aura was growing stronger and stronger. Even though the other party was younger than him, Donnie unconsciously felt a sense of pressure.

Lu Qingyu got straight to the point. The script for the first iron man movie was already complete, and he explained the concept of iron man in the Marvel Universe to Donnie.

Donnie was looking forward to the movie he was about to star in, but at the same time, he was prepared for the role to be ordinary.

However, listening to Lu Qingyu explain the character of iron man, Donnie became increasingly excited.

Oh my goodness, he loved this character's personality too much; he even felt a resonance with the character of iron man.

This character was simply tailor-made for him, and he was confident that if he played this role, he would definitely make it a classic.

Just listening to Lu Qingyu's explanation, he couldn't help but fall in love with the iron man character.

"Lu, this is fantastic! I love this character so much. Please give me this opportunity to portray iron man."

Lu Qingyu knew that Donnie would never be able to resist the temptation of iron man.

"As you may have gathered, I'm creating a superhero, and this is a series. Besides the iron man series itself, iron man will also need to appear in other hero movies. Therefore, I hope there will only be one iron man, so if we sign..."

Donnie immediately understood what Lu Qingyu meant:

"I understand what you mean. I'm willing to sign for the entire iron man series project, and I can even promise that the remuneration will not increase."

Lu Qingyu could barely suppress the smile on his face; that last sentence perfectly aligned with his intentions.

"To ensure actors are in good condition, we will conduct closed-door training for them in the early stages."

Donnie: "I can participate."

Lu Qingyu: "During the filming of the TV series, actors need to unconditionally follow the director's arrangements. This..."

Donnie was already enchanted by the script; he would agree to anything Lu Qingyu said now.

"I can."

Lu Qingyu smiled. Soon, Donnie would learn that there is a saying in this world: what goes around comes around. The debts he once owed would need to be repaid.

Lu Qingyu had someone print out the contract. Currently, the salary listed in Donnie's resumes sent to various film and television companies was 500,000 US dollars. This price was adjusted by Donnie himself; originally, his salary was 6 million US dollars, but due to being blacklisted later and having no work for over a year, his salary kept dropping.

Now, even at 500,000 US dollars, no one would hire him. Lu Qingyu looked at the price and waved his hand, thinking, 'I won't bargain down; how kind of me.'

Donnie was very satisfied, even grateful to Lu Qingyu.

Lu Qingyu: I didn't take advantage, right...?
