47: Chapter "Guests" resonates with the entire audience.

After Jiang Yu finished singing, the audience burst into thunderous applause. Jiang Yu gestured for Lu Jin to join him on stage. Lu Jin walked up proudly as the people below shouted his name.

Lu Jin knew that he was safe this time.

Zhang Xiaoxiao felt a bit jealous. "Why didn't the audience react this strongly after listening to my song?"

Lou Qingran, sitting next to her, said, "You sang very well too."

Hearing Lou Qingran's comfort, Zhang Xiaoxiao smiled helplessly. "You don't need to comfort me. Looking at this reaction, Lu Jin is definitely first this episode, and you, Qingran, will definitely be second."

Lou Qingran shook her head, not quite agreeing. "Lu Qingyu hasn't gone on stage yet."

Zhang Xiaoxiao's eyes darted toward Lu Qingyu. "Him? I'm afraid things don't look optimistic for our little brother."

Lou Qingran had an indescribable feeling. Although logic told her Lu Qingyu's group might flop, she always felt he was someone who could give people surprises.

After receiving the audience's enthusiasm, Jiang Yu and Lu Jin stepped down. Chen Ting stood up and walked to the center of the stage.

Everyone originally thought Chen Ting's group arrived the latest because of Lu Qingyu, but that wasn't the case. The reason for their delay was actually Chen Ting.

He knew Lu Qingyu hadn't asked him about his memory for no reason.

Damn, there were just too many lyrics.

However, Chen Ting really liked this song. In particular, he had experienced a romance that ended without results in his youth, so he felt deeply moved when he heard it. He felt his heart being pierced while singing.

"guest"—the person you love isn't with you, and you attend your ex-girlfriend's wedding carrying memories and remnants of love. Is that not regretful enough?

Chen Ting knew this was absolutely a good song and would definitely become a hit. But he never expected that the two most popular songs of his life would both be given by Lu Qingyu: one for weddings and one for funerals. From now on, he would be Chen 'One-Stop Wedding and Funeral Service' Ting.

On stage, the soothing prelude slowed down, and Chen Ting began to sing:

"Which winter has it been since the breakup? What day is it today?"

"Occasionally, I think of you."

"Your sudden text message caught me off guard."

"I stood frozen in place."

"When everyone is happy for you, I finally wake up foolishly."

"It turns out someone has already custom-made a wedding dress for you."

Chen Ting's voice had a strong magnetic quality. Because he had sung rock for many years, his breath control from the diaphragm was very powerful.

Everyone had been curious about the title "guest" and how it related to regret. Then they heard Chen Ting's lyrics. The storytelling style immediately pulled people into the scene, and upon hearing the next lines, they understood instantly.

"Thank you for the special invitation to witness your love."

"I remind myself at every moment not to run away."

"Holding the wedding invitation, you approach step by step."

"In the venue he meticulously arranged."

"Unfortunately, this is scenery that belongs to you."

"And I am just a guest."

Hearing this, someone's heart was surely pierced.

Wang Yiheng couldn't take it anymore when he heard this song. He had come to watch this show for Jiang Yu, who was his ex-girlfriend's favorite singer.

Back then, they had said they would go to a Jiang Yu concert together once in their lives. Now he finally had the chance to listen, but that person was no longer by his side.

His ex-girlfriend had broken up with him six months ago. They had been together for six years, starting from university, but in the end, they didn't make it.

A couple of days ago, he saw on his social feed that her family had introduced her to a blind date, and they had already agreed to get engaged. She even invited him to the engagement banquet.

Hearing this song, Wang Yiheng immediately projected himself into it. Every breath felt like it was being pricked by needles.

On stage, Chen Ting continued to sing.

"I let go of all memories,"

"To fulfill your love."

"Yet I still refuse to believe this is fate."

"You, whom I haven't seen in a long time, seem a bit distant."

"Shaking hands and exchanging pleasantries so politely."

"Why bother being so deliberate in front of him?"

"Hiding the fact that my world once had you."

Lu Jin's hair stood on end once again, and cold sweat poured out. Could it be that he was going to lose to Lu Qingyu again? Lu Jin's eyes looked as if they were hiding knives.

Was Lu Qingyu doing this on purpose? He wrote about love, and Lu Qingyu also wrote about love. He originally thought his own lyrics were good enough, but Lu Qingyu's were clearly better. He was unwilling to accept this, especially losing to Lu Qingyu.

The more Zhang Xiaoxiao listened, the wider her mouth opened. Lou Qingran's eyes couldn't help but light up. She turned to look at Lu Qingyu. She knew it—Lu Qingyu always gave people surprises.

The other two veteran songwriters were also filled with shock. To write to this level in just two hours—they had to admire him. This young man was truly incredible; his future potential was limitless.

Chen Ting's eyes never left the teleprompter as he seriously sang every line.

"I shed all my memories,"

"To celebrate your wedding."

"Yet I still don't have the courage to bless you."

"Thank you for giving me this final clarity,"

"Returning myself to me."

"At least I can still be that..."

"guest who witnessed your love."

"The man who met you is truly lucky."

"I hope he will love you more than I do."

When the last line was finished, Chen Ting finally breathed a long sigh of relief. Phew, not a single wrong word. Great.

When practicing in the arrangement room earlier, he hadn't completed it once without mistakes. It was mainly because there were just too many lyrics; he simply couldn't remember them.

This performance on stage was his most complete rendition. It was truly wonderful.

While Chen Ting was still immersed in the joy of not messing up the lyrics, he suddenly heard screams and shouts from below. The deafening sound left Chen Ting stunned.

He looked up and saw the audience standing, everyone cheering with surprise on their faces.

Was... was this for him?

Chen Ting could hardly believe it. He was a professional singer, but he hadn't seen such a passionate scene in many years.

No singer doesn't want the audience's cheers. He had persisted in writing songs all these years because he wanted to move the audience with his voice. Hearing the audience cheer for him... he hadn't seen such a scene in years and had almost forgotten this kind of thrill.

He hadn't held any illusions, and while performing this song, he only thought about finishing it completely. Who knew he would get such feedback?

Chen Ting immediately looked toward Lu Qingyu, his eyes suddenly burning with the urge to cry.

The gaze he directed at Lu Qingyu was full of heat. He hadn't expected that this rare moment was given to him by the boy.
