166: Chapter 166 Testing Cao Kun
Two more people emerged from the side and began searching Cao Kun.
His phone, wallet, and car keys were all taken away.
"Get in."
Cao Kun was pushed into the warehouse.
The inside of the warehouse was a whole different world.
The exterior was dilapidated, but the interior had been converted into an office-like space.
There were a few old sofas, a sheet-metal table, and several rechargeable lamps.
Sitting on the sofa was a man in his fifties. He was bald with a long scar on his face, and he was unhurriedly drinking tea.
"Boss, this kid says he's looking for Old K," the Bulky Man said.
Scarface Man looked up at Cao Kun. "Who introduced you?"
"Eagle," Cao Kun repeated.
"Which Eagle?"
Cao Kun was speechless; how would he know which Eagle?
At this point, however, he could only brace himself and put on an act.
"You know."
Scarface Man laughed, his smile full of amusement. "What are you here for?"
Cao Kun looked at him. "I want to do business with you."
"What kind of business?"
"Selling goods."
Scarface Man's eyes narrowed. "What goods?"
Cao Kun said calmly, "Human organs."
The atmosphere in the warehouse shifted instantly.
The Bulky Man and the other two instinctively reached for their waists, but Scarface Man's expression didn't change at all. He still held his teacup and took a slow sip.
"Human organs?" he repeated. "Do you know that's illegal?"
"I know."
"Then you still dare to come?"
"I need money, and some people need organs. Everyone gets what they need," Cao Kun said.
Scarface Man put down his teacup, stood up, and walked over to Cao Kun.
The two were less than half a meter apart.
Scarface Man was half a head shorter than Cao Kun, but he had a powerful aura.
It was the distinct, dangerous air of someone who had spent years operating on the fringes of the law.
"Look at me," he said.
Cao Kun looked at him.
The eye contact lasted for ten seconds.
"You don't look like someone short on money," Scarface Man said suddenly. "With the way you're dressed and the car you drive, you're short on money?"
Cao Kun's heart stirred.
This man had already searched his belongings and even checked his car.
"It's not that I'm short on money," he said. "I'm helping someone else."
"Helping who?"
"A few women who were scammed."
Scarface Man arched an eyebrow, seemingly interested. "Tell me more."
Cao Kun briefly explained the situation with Tian Ningning and the other two.
The scammer, Zhang Genshuo, had swindled hundreds of thousands and squandered it all. The victims couldn't get their money back, so he thought of this way to make the scammer pay the price.
After listening, Scarface Man was silent for a few seconds.
"Are you Lei Feng?" he asked.
"No."
"Then what does it have to do with you?"
"I can't stand it," Cao Kun said. "Especially scumbags who trick women."
Scarface Man stared at him and suddenly laughed.
This smile was different from the previous ones; it carried a hint of... admiration?
"Interesting." He turned around, walked back to the sofa, and sat down. "But, it's not enough."
"What's not enough?"
"Not enough sincerity." Scarface Man crossed his legs.
"You're a stranger who suddenly showed up on my turf, saying you want to sell organs."
"Why should I believe you're not a cop? Why should I believe you're not an undercover? If you want me to believe you, you must prove it."
Cao Kun was silent for a second. "How do I prove it?"
Scarface Man thought for a moment and said to the Bulky Man, "Tie him up."
Without a word, the Bulky Man pressed Cao Kun into a broken chair and tied him up tightly with thick hemp rope.
The rope was pulled very tight, biting into his flesh.
Cao Kun didn't resist.
He knew this was a necessary part of the process.
Scarface Man walked over to him and crouched down. "Does it hurt?"
"I'm fine."
"Tough guy." Scarface Man stood up and said to the Bulky Man, "Teach him a lesson."
