191: Chapter 191 Am I right?

The pain of suffocation grew more intense, her vision began to blur, and her limbs felt increasingly heavy.

She watched Lou Dong, who was still shouting for help, and a thought suddenly popped into her mind.

Even if... even if Dong Zi really did it for the insurance money, it didn't matter.

He owed so many debts; it must be very hard for him.

If she died and he could get two million in insurance money, he could pay off his debts and start his life over.

This was fine; at least she could do one last thing for him.

Once this thought took root, it wrapped around her heart like a rapidly growing vine.

She stopped struggling, her limbs relaxed, and her body gradually sank toward the bottom of the lake.

The fear was gone from her face, replaced by a sense of relief and calm.

It's fine, let it end like this. She wouldn't have to suffer with him anymore, and she could help him out of his predicament.

Just as Shang Yuya's head was about to sink completely underwater, the sudden, rapid roar of a motor came from the distance, breaking the silence of the lake.

A white yacht was speeding toward them at an incredible pace, its hull cutting through the water and kicking up trails of white foam.

In the driver's seat of the yacht, a tall figure gripped the steering wheel, his sharp gaze locked onto the location of the capsized boat.

It was Cao Kun!

As it turned out, Cao Kun hadn't actually gone far after leaving the front of the convenience store.

He knew his earlier persuasion hadn't worked and might have even made Lou Dong more cautious, so he had been following the two from a distance, ensuring he wouldn't be spotted.

When he saw them heading toward South Lake, he knew Lou Dong's plan was about to be put into motion.

Cao Kun quickened his pace to follow them to the South Lake Pier, just in time to see Lou Dong and Shang Yuya rent a pedal boat and leave the shore.

He immediately walked to the boat rental booth and said urgently to the Old Man who was still dozing, "Old Man, I want to rent the fastest yacht. Name your price!"

The Old Man was startled by his urgent tone and quickly stood up. "A yacht is two hundred an hour, with a five-hundred deposit."

"Keep the change!"

Cao Kun pulled out a thousand yuan and slapped it on the table. He grabbed the keys the Old Man handed him and ran quickly toward the fastest white yacht on the shore.

He had driven yachts before, so he wasn't unfamiliar with the controls. He quickly started the engine and chased after the direction Lou Dong and Shang Yuya had gone.

Cao Kun maintained a safe distance, following far behind Lou Dong's pedal boat while keeping a close eye on their movements.

When he saw Lou Dong row the boat to the center of the lake and stop, alarm bells rang in his heart. He immediately slowed down and hid in a small cove nearby, waiting for the right moment.

When he saw with his own eyes Lou Dong suddenly flip the small boat, watched Shang Yuya fall into the water and struggle, while Lou Dong only shouted for help by the boat without any intention of saving her, Cao Kun's anger instantly flared up.

He no longer cared about hiding. He immediately started the yacht and charged toward the scene at maximum speed.

The yacht quickly reached the site of the capsized boat. Cao Kun abruptly cut the engine and leaped into the cold lake water.

He was an excellent swimmer, moving as agilely as a fish in the water. In a few strokes, he reached Shang Yuya, who had stopped struggling and was sinking.

He reached out his arm, grabbed Shang Yuya by the waist, and lifted her body up, bringing her nose and mouth above the water.

"Wake up! Don't fall asleep!"

Cao Kun shouted loudly while dragging Shang Yuya toward the yacht.

Shang Yuya was now in a semi-conscious state, continuously coughing up lake water. Her mind was foggy, and she couldn't hear his shouts at all.

Lou Dong was completely dumbfounded when he saw Cao Kun suddenly appear. He never expected this stranger would follow them here and even rent a yacht!

A surge of immense panic hit him. His face turned pale, and his cries for help stopped abruptly. He clung blankly to the bottom of the boat, watching Cao Kun drag Shang Yuya toward the yacht.

Cao Kun soon dragged Shang Yuya to the side of the yacht, supporting her with one hand.

With his other hand, he grabbed the edge of the yacht and used his strength to push her body up onto it before climbing up himself.

He didn't even bother to wipe the water off himself. He immediately knelt down and patted Shang Yuya's back to help her expel the lake water she had inhaled.

"Cough, cough... cough..."

Shang Yuya coughed violently under his patting, spitting out several mouthfuls of murky lake water, and her consciousness gradually cleared.

She slowly opened her eyes and saw Cao Kun before her. Her gaze was full of confusion. It took a while before she realized she had been saved.

By this time, Lou Dong had also regained his senses. He knew his plan had completely fallen through.

But he was, after all, a man accustomed to pretense. He quickly adjusted his expression and swam toward the yacht while shouting loudly at Cao Kun.

"Brother! Thank you so much! It's all thanks to you, otherwise my wife would be dead!"

Cao Kun gave him a cold look and said nothing, continuing to help Shang Yuya catch her breath.

Lou Dong swam to the side of the yacht and grabbed the gunwale, his face squeezed into an expression of profound gratitude. "Brother, you are truly our savior! I don't know how to thank you! I will definitely repay you once we get back!"

Shang Yuya regained some strength. She looked at the drenched and seemingly concerned Lou Dong, then at the equally drenched and cold-faced Cao Kun, and spoke weakly.

"Tha... thank you for saving me."

Her voice was still a bit raspy, carrying the exhaustion of someone who had just escaped death's door.

"Don't thank me," Cao Kun finally spoke, his tone as cold as the lake water. His gaze was fixed on Lou Dong as he said each word clearly.

"If you want to thank someone, thank your own luck for surviving. But you need to understand one thing: you didn't fall into the water by accident. Your husband, Lou Dong, deliberately flipped the boat because he wanted to drown you for the insurance money!"

These words were like a thunderclap exploding in the ears of Shang Yuya and Lou Dong.

Shang Yuya's body trembled violently as she looked at Lou Dong in disbelief.

Lou Dong's face instantly turned ashen, and a flash of panic crossed his eyes, but he quickly masked it. He let go of the gunwale and pointed at Cao Kun, roaring angrily.

"What nonsense are you talking about?! You madman! You slandered me at the convenience store earlier, and now you're making false accusations here! The boat flipped by accident. How could I possibly harm my wife on purpose?"

"Whether it's nonsense or not, you know the truth in your heart!"

Cao Kun met his gaze without any fear.

"I was watching the whole time from behind. I saw clearly that you flipped the boat on purpose!"

"You owe 580,000 in high-interest loans and were at a dead end, so you bought a two-million-yuan accident insurance policy for Shang Yuya with yourself as the beneficiary. The policy just went into effect today."

"That's why you deliberately brought her here to row a boat, wanting to create the illusion of an accidental drowning to defraud the insurance company!"

"Am I right?"
