65: Chapter 65 He Caihua is drunk

He Caihua's smile widened even further.

"Then let's give it a try. There's a barbecue stall if you turn right at the intersection ahead. We can buy some to take back."

Cao Kun signaled and turned the car onto the street on the right.

His mind was racing, trying to figure out how he should proceed to obtain evidence that she was a player.

The smoky aroma from the barbecue stall was particularly noticeable in the night.

Cao Kun parked the car. He Caihua couldn't wait to unbuckle her seatbelt: "I'll go buy it. I know what's good there."

As she got out of the car, her leather skirt rode up another inch with the movement, revealing more of her pale thighs.

Cao Kun averted his gaze, but he felt even more certain in his heart.

This woman was definitely not just a simple lesbian.

A few minutes later, He Caihua returned with a large bag of barbecue and a case of beer. The aroma immediately filled the car.

"You bought quite a lot," Cao Kun said, starting the car again.

"It's rare to have someone to drink with me."

He Caihua settled back into the passenger seat. This time, she didn't fasten her seatbelt. Instead, she leaned sideways in the seat, facing Cao Kun with a smile.

"When I was buying the barbecue, I got you some grilled lamb kidneys, grilled oysters, and grilled chives. I hope you like them."

"Ahem..."

Cao Kun nearly choked on his own saliva.

He Caihua's intentions were clearly not good.

Following He Caihua's directions, the car entered the Jinhe Residential Complex.

It was a mid-range Residential Complex with decent greenery. The streetlights were dim at night, making it seem very quiet.

Cao Kun parked the car. He Caihua had already gotten out with the bags.

"Let's go," she said, turning back to give Cao Kun a charming smile.

Cao Kun took a deep breath and also got out of the car.

The night breeze was slightly cool, dispersing some of the intimate atmosphere from inside the car.

The two of them walked into the building entrance, one after the other.

The motion-sensor lights in the stairwell flickered on with their footsteps and quickly turned off again.

He Caihua's apartment was on the fifth floor.

As they were getting into the elevator...

He Caihua, wearing high heels, suddenly stumbled.

"Oh!" she let out a soft cry, her body tilting to the side.

Cao Kun instinctively reached out to steady her.

She practically fell into his arms, one hand naturally resting on his shoulder, the other still clutching the barbecue bag tightly.

"Are you okay?" Cao Kun asked, trying to help her stand upright.

But He Caihua seemed unsteady, leaning softly against him: "My ankle seems to have twisted a little... it hurts a bit."

Cao Kun frowned.

He had learned Mastery of Combat and had a good understanding of the human body's structure and balance. That "twist" just now was clearly intentional—the force and angle were all wrong.

But he didn't expose her, only saying: "Can you still walk? Do you need me to help you?"

"Yes..." He Caihua's voice was soft, carrying a hint of a coquettish tone, "Help me a little, please."

Cao Kun took the barbecue and beer from her with one hand and wrapped his other arm around her waist, supporting her as they slowly walked up.

He Caihua was practically pressed against him. The soft sensation beneath her black tank top was palpable. The strong scent of her perfume mixed with the smoky aroma of the barbecue, creating a peculiar atmosphere.

Finally, they reached the fifth floor.

He Caihua took a key from her bag and unlocked the door to apartment 502.

"Please, come in," she said, stepping aside to let Cao Kun enter first.

Cao Kun stepped inside and quickly scanned the surroundings.

It was a small one-bedroom, one-living-room apartment. The decor was simple but relatively tidy.

The living room had a sofa, a TV cabinet, and a small coffee table. A few decorative paintings hung on the wall.

A faint, pleasant scent drifted in the air, different from the perfume on He Caihua—it was fresher.

"Make yourself at home. I'll change my shoes," He Caihua said, closing the door, kicking off her high heels, and stepping barefoot onto the floor.

She took a pair of pink slippers from the shoe cabinet and put them on, her movements so natural it was as if Cao Kun were a frequent guest.

Cao Kun placed the barbecue and beer on the coffee table and sat down on the sofa.

He Caihua went into the kitchen and brought out two glass cups and a stack of napkins.

"Shall we have a drink first?" She opened a can of beer, poured it into a glass, and handed it to Cao Kun.

Cao Kun took it but didn't drink immediately: "Didn't you twist your ankle? Is it serious?"

"Much better," He Caihua said, sitting down next to him so close they were almost touching. "It was probably just a momentary thing. Come on, let's have a toast first. Thank you for your help today."

She raised her glass, clinked it with Cao Kun's, then tilted her head back and took a big gulp.

A trickle of beer ran from the corner of her mouth, down her pale neck, and disappeared into the neckline of her tank top.

Cao Kun also took a sip. The beer was cold, sharpening his senses a little.

"How does it taste?" He Caihua asked, her eyes sparkling as she looked at him.

"Not bad," Cao Kun said, setting down his glass and deciding to take the initiative. "Do you often invite people over to drink at your place?"

He Caihua laughed: "How could I? I only invite people I think are special."

As she spoke, she shifted even closer to Cao Kun. Their legs were almost touching.

The leather of her skirt was smooth, shimmering faintly under the light.

"Special people?" Cao Kun raised an eyebrow. "Like who?"

"Like... you," He Caihua said bluntly. "From the moment I saw you today, I felt you were different from other men."

"How am I different?" Cao Kun went along with her words.

"Hard to say," He Caihua said, resting her chin in her hand and tilting her head to look at him. "Just a special kind of aura. And you helped Xiao Nan so much. You're kind, capable..."

With each sentence, she moved a little closer to Cao Kun.

By the last sentence, her breath was almost brushing against Cao Kun's face.

Cao Kun didn't pull back. Instead, he looked directly into her eyes: "Are you this warm to everyone who helps Xiao Nan?"

The question was a bit pointed, but He Caihua didn't seem to catch the implication. Instead, she laughed: "Of course not. Only to you."

As she spoke, she reached for a skewer of grilled lamb kidneys. But instead of eating it herself, she held it to Cao Kun's lips: "Try this. It's their specialty."

Cao Kun hesitated for a moment, then opened his mouth and took a bite.

The kidney was grilled perfectly, seasoned well without being greasy.

"Is it good?" He Caihua asked, her fingers still holding the end of the skewer.

"Not bad," Cao Kun nodded, taking the skewer from her. "You have some too."

They ate, drank, and chatted.

Soon, they had finished the entire case of beer.

Each of them had drunk about four or five bottles.

Cao Kun was fine, but He Caihua was clearly quite drunk.
