60: Chapter 60 Dressing Up as a Young Man
After coming out of Zuixian Restaurant, Cao Kun said they should go get a makeover first.
"Since we're acting, we have to go all the way," he said as he opened the door of the aito m9. "Get in, I'll take you somewhere."
Xiang Ze Nan was clearly stunned when she saw the car.
Although she didn't know much about cars, she recognized the logo and knew this wasn't an ordinary family car.
Working at the county Agricultural Bank for the past two years, she had seen many clients' cars; even their branch president's son drove this model.
"This car... is yours?" she couldn't help but ask.
"Yeah, bought it not too long ago."
After getting into the passenger seat, Xiang Ze Nan reminded him, "When we go to my house later, definitely don't drive this car. If my parents see you driving such a nice car, they might think your situation is actually quite good..."
"Don't worry, I understand." Cao Kun started the car. "Let's go transform our image first."
He navigated to a well-known hair salon in the county called Fashion Frontline.
This shop was famous for its exaggerated hairstyles and coloring, serving as a gathering place for the county's "spiritual youths."
At two in the afternoon, there weren't many customers in the shop.
A young Teacher Tony with green hair greeted them warmly, "Handsome guy, beautiful lady, getting your hair done?"
Cao Kun pointed to his head. "Give me the trendiest hairstyle, the more eye-catching the better. As for the color... make it a bit more colorful."
Teacher Tony's eyes lit up. "Got it! The hottest thing lately is the rainbow gradient, paired with a bowl cut—absolutely stylish!"
Xiang Ze Nan blinked repeatedly as she listened from the side.
Looking at Cao Kun's originally clean-cut black hair, she suddenly felt a bit guilty.
He had to go through all this trouble just to help her.
Two hours later.
Cao Kun looked at himself in the mirror and almost didn't recognize himself.
The bowl cut was trimmed neatly, but the hair color had transitioned from bright purple at the top to fluorescent green at the tips, with pink and blue highlights interspersed in between.
Under the lights, his head looked like a color palette.
Teacher Tony was very satisfied with his work. "Handsome, this hairstyle is a bit of a mismatch with your clothes. There's a clothing store next door that specializes in trendy clothes. Go pick out an outfit, and it'll be perfect!"
Cao Kun turned to Xiang Ze Nan. "Let's go, time to buy some clothes."
Xiang Ze Nan was already dumbfounded.
At this moment, Cao Kun had completely lost the steady aura he had in the restaurant earlier; this hairstyle alone was "spiritual" enough.
The two of them went to the Cool Fashion Pavilion next door.
The shop was filled with various tight-fitting clothes, studded jackets, ripped jeans, and shiny loafers.
Cao Kun quickly selected an outfit.
The top was a bright blue tight-fitting short-sleeved shirt with a giant Wangzai logo printed on the front.
The bottom was a pair of black skinny pants, with the cuffs tucked into a pair of white sequined loafers.
When he came out of the fitting room, Xiang Ze Nan immediately covered her mouth.
Cao Kun looked at himself in the mirror and almost burst out laughing as well.
This outfit, paired with that rainbow hair, made him look exactly like a "spiritual youth" who had stepped right out of a short video.
He intentionally hunched his back, shook his legs, and struck the opening pose of a Social Shake dance.
"How is it?" he asked Xiang Ze Nan.
Xiang Ze Nan held back her laughter and gave a thumbs up. "Incredible! With this look, my parents' blood pressure will probably skyrocket the moment they see you."
Cao Kun picked out a few more accessories.
A large plastic gold chain.
An electronic watch with an oversized face, and a pair of black-rimmed glasses without lenses.
Once fully equipped, his entire aura underwent a world-shaking transformation.
"Anything else needed?" Cao Kun adjusted the position of the gold chain in the mirror.
Xiang Ze Nan thought for a moment. "The expressions and movements need to change too."
"You can't stand straight like you are now. You have to... hunch your back a bit, make your gaze a bit shifty, and ideally shake your legs every now and then."
Cao Kun tried it out and quickly mastered the essence.
He hunched his back slightly, stuck his hands into his skinny pant pockets, and his right leg began to shake rhythmically, emitting an aura that screamed, "I'm a street thug."
"Perfect!" Xiang Ze Nan couldn't help but laugh out loud. "I'm really looking forward to the look on my parents' faces when they see you."
After paying, Cao Kun drove the car to a nearby parking lot, parked it, and then took a taxi with Xiang Ze Nan to her house.
On the way, Xiang Ze Nan called her parents. "Mom, I'm back from the blind date..."
"Yeah, I met him, he's quite nice..."
"Yes, we hit it off quite well... It was love at first sight, and we both want to settle the marriage."
"He said he wants to come over and visit you guys... We're on our way, should be there in about twenty minutes."
Hanging up, Xiang Ze Nan said to Cao Kun, "My parents were so happy to hear you're coming. My mom is probably busy tidying up the house and preparing fruit right now."
Cao Kun nodded and began to get into character.
Leaning back in the taxi's rear seat, his leg started shaking again, and his gaze became indifferent.
Xiang Ze Nan's family lived in a new Residential Complex, on the eighth floor.
Just as they got into the elevator, Cao Kun suddenly stopped. "Wait, is it inappropriate for me to come empty-handed?"
"It's supposed to be inappropriate," Xiang Ze Nan said. "If you were carrying a bunch of gifts, my parents would think you're sensible instead."
"Makes sense." Cao Kun continued upstairs, his mind already brewing the upcoming performance.
The door to Room 801 was slightly ajar; the sounds of a television and voices could be heard from inside.
Xiang Ze Nan took a deep breath and pushed the door open. "Dad, Mom, we're back."
Cao Kun followed behind her, swaggering into the room.
