31: Chapter 31 Helping the Female Executive
Returning to the Department Two office, Ji Guangli distributed the flower cakes she brought back from the City of Luo to her colleagues in the department.
The sweet aroma and the leader's thoughtful gesture lightened the office atmosphere considerably, alleviating some of the tension caused by Su Hongliang's earlier provocation.
"Cao Kun," Ji Guangli said seriously, handing the last two boxes of the most exquisitely packaged flower cakes to Cao Kun, "Secretary Long deserves the most credit for us securing the contract with Xuefen this time."
"Take these two boxes to Secretary Long personally, on behalf of our department and on my personal behalf. Thank her properly. Be sincere and observe proper etiquette."
"Understood, boss! I'll complete the mission!" Cao Kun accepted the flower cakes and left to carry out his orders.
On his way downstairs, Cao Kun first called Long Huili.
The call connected quickly, and Long Huili's voice came through, carrying a hint of laziness and pleasant surprise: "Little brother? What brings you to think of your sister today? Was the trip to the City of Luo especially smooth? Want to share the joy with your sister?"
"Sister is truly prescient!" Cao Kun flattered with a laugh. "Not just smooth, it was a complete victory! All thanks to your influence. I just got back and wanted to properly thank you for your invaluable help. Are you free right now, sister?"
"Free, of course I'm free!"
Long Huili's voice instantly became cheerful and suggestive. "Your sister happens to be a bit bored today. Since you're coming, you can... keep your sister company. I'll wait for you at the Blues Café near the company?"
"Alright, I'll be right there."
Half an hour later.
In a relatively quiet booth at the Blues Café.
Cao Kun respectfully presented the two boxes of exquisite City of Luo flower cakes with both hands.
"Sister Long, just a little local specialty from the City of Luo, a token of my appreciation. I'm truly grateful this time. Manager Li was especially courteous, and the contract signing went exceptionally smoothly. Our Manager Ji also asked me to convey her most sincere gratitude to you."
Long Huili accepted them with a smile, but her gaze lingered more on Cao Kun's increasingly handsome, chiseled face and his solid physique.
"Why be so polite with me? If you handle things well, it reflects well on your sister too."
She took an elegant sip of coffee, then suddenly changed the subject, a flicker of cunning and excitement in her eyes. "Since you came specifically to thank me, how about keeping your sister company and having some real fun?"
"Of course! Whatever you have in mind, little brother is game."
"I haven't decided yet..."
As she spoke, Long Huili suddenly thought of something and quickly asked Cao Kun.
"I saw you drove here just now. Does your car have privacy glass?"
"Yes! Why, sister?" Cao Kun asked, puzzled.
"Perfect!" Long Huili snapped her fingers, her smile charming yet carrying a hint of wildness.
"Your sister just had a brilliant idea! Drive your car to the side of that scenic road ahead. Lots of people go for walks there in the evening; it's lively."
"We'll park in a temporary spot that's not in the way, and then..."
"Wait, sis!" Cao Kun felt a chill run down his spine and hurriedly interrupted. "That place is full of people coming and going. Even with good privacy glass, this is too..." He truly hadn't expected Long Huili to be this daring.
"What are you afraid of?" Long Huili shot him a glance and poked his chest suggestively with her finger.
"Besides, the glass just looks black from the outside. People won't pay much attention."
Seeing that Cao Kun still looked hesitant.
She leaned close to his ear, her breath fragrant like orchids. "What's the matter, little brother? Scared? Didn't you just say you were game for anything?"
The combination of the challenge, her seductive gaze, and tone made Cao Kun well aware it was a trap. But that male urge not to back down made him grit his teeth: "Who... who's scared! Let's go!"
And so, by the scenic road as evening crowds began to gather, a black luxury SUV sat parked in a temporary spot, air conditioning running.
...
This 'battle' lasted from just past four in the afternoon, while the sky was still bright, until seven in the evening when the streetlights began to glow.
Only then did Long Huili finally collapse, satisfied, onto the reclined seat, glistening with sweat, her eyes shining with unusual brilliance.
Panting, she praised him without restraint.
"Little brother... you really... have impressed your sister! It's only been a few days, but your skills... it's like you jumped straight from the beginner's village to a max-level expert!"
"Could it be that you are the legendary, one-in-a-million prodigy!"
"You flatter me, sister. It's mainly because you guided me so well..."
Cao Kun simply returned the compliment.
This made Long Huili burst into hearty laughter, liking this 'little brother' even more.
...
After resting for a moment, they straightened their clothes. Once the unnatural flush on their faces had subsided a bit, they drove away as if nothing had happened.
They found a well-reviewed private kitchen for dinner. Throughout the meal, Long Huili's eyes still held a suggestive gleam, and her foot under the table continued to playfully tease Cao Kun, her intentions clear.
However, just as they were halfway through the meal, Long Huili's phone rang.
She glanced at the caller ID, frowned slightly, and stepped aside to answer.
When she returned, there was a trace of regret on her face. "Something urgent came up at home, and I'm being urged to go back. We'll have to call it a day here, little brother." She leaned close to Cao Kun and traced a suggestive line on his palm with her finger. "Next time, your sister will find an even more exciting place, and we can have a proper, in-depth exchange."
After seeing off a somewhat reluctant Long Huili to her home, Cao Kun drove alone back to the Residential Complex where he rented.
It was just past ten at night. The summer evening breeze carried the lingering warmth of the day.
After parking the car, Cao Kun didn't head upstairs immediately.
Despite the intense 'exercise' of the afternoon, he didn't feel tired. Instead, he felt a sense of excess energy.
His system-enhanced body left him in a strange state of excitement.
"It's still early anyway. I'll take a walk."
He decided to stroll around the neighborhood to calm his mind.
He walked aimlessly along familiar streets, gradually veering away from the main road and turning into a relatively older area with dim streetlights.
It was sparsely populated here, feeling somewhat secluded.
Just as he passed a narrow side alley cluttered with some debris, the sound of a suppressed argument and a woman's panicked, low cry reached his ears.
Cao Kun's steps halted, and his gaze sharpened as he looked toward the source of the sound.
Under the dim glow of a streetlight, he saw four or five burly men in tank tops, tattoos visible, surrounding a young woman who seemed unsteady on her feet, struggling to stand upright.
The woman was backed against a mottled wall. Although her full appearance wasn't clear, she seemed slender and was visibly trying to maintain her composure and alertness, facing off against the leering men who kept closing in. The situation was precarious.
Just as Cao Kun frowned, considering whether to call the police or intervene, a crisp, mechanical sound that he had long awaited rang out in his mind, instantly invigorating him.
[Ding! New mission issued: Host, please assist the female Enforcement Officer ahead, help complete the apprehension mission, and ensure the entire criminal gang is captured.]
[Mission reward: One fully furnished apartment in the Fenghua Li Residential Complex (approximately 140 square meters). Property ownership procedures will be automatically and legally processed under the host's name, ready for immediate occupancy.]
Female Enforcement Officer? Apprehension mission? Criminal gang?
A gleam flashed in Cao Kun's eyes. He instantly understood this wasn't simply a case of hoodlums harassing someone; it was likely an undercover law enforcement operation that had encountered an unexpected situation or danger!
And the reward—Fenghuali!
That's a famous, high-quality residential development in Zhongzhou, over twenty thousand per square meter!
He had just been thinking about renting, and now the system was directly giving him an apartment? This was too considerate!
More importantly, he had been itching to test out his newly enhanced body and the combat techniques now in his head!
These seemingly fierce bad guys in front of him had come at the perfect time!
