125: Black soil in space
The Devil Frogs were truly resilient to beatings, and Ai Yue's divine strength posed no threat to them. There was no other way; she couldn't strike their weaknesses either, as that would kill them.
So, Ai Yue raised her fist, used ten-tenths of her strength, and began to wildly pummel the Devil Frog's head.
After exerting a tremendous amount of effort for ten minutes, the one being pummeled finally fainted.
Panting for breath, Ai Yue rubbed her hands and muttered to herself, "It's not actually an invincible Golden Bell Shield or Iron Cloth Shirt; it can still be knocked unconscious. It's just that my Superpower is still too weak and my strength is too small!"
Shaking her hands, Ai Yue threw it into the space and then set her gaze on the other two Devil Frogs.
Ai Yue didn't want to pummel them unconscious again; she thought about cutting off its head and putting it in the space to try it out.
Unexpectedly, Ai Yue had no way at all to cut off the head of a lively Devil Frog. The ultimate result was that the Devil Frog would rather self-destruct than leave behind an intact skull.
Given this, Ai Yue became even more certain that there was something special about the Devil Frog's head; what the space needed must be inside it.
Ai Yue no longer paid attention to the Devil Frogs that were left as mere corpses. She entered the space, planning to cut off the head of the unconscious Devil Frog.
To her surprise, she simply could not cut off its head with a knife.
Refusing to believe it, Ai Yue tried to hack at it with a knife, but the blade curled. She tried an axe, and good grief, the entire axe shattered into dross. She even used a chainsaw, but she was still helpless against that skull.
With hands on her hips, Ai Yue circled the Devil Frog three times to the left and three times to the right. She tried hacking at every spot; it was indeed incredibly hard, with only the eyes being a weakness.
Ai Yue could only take action against the eyes.
She held the knife and carefully dug down toward the left eye.
"Clang..."
Ai Yue let out a "Heh" and increased her strength.
"Clang..."
Ai Yue's brow furrowed. Taking a deep breath, she stabbed hard at the eyeball. Instantly, the clanging sounds were incessant.
"Heh, is this an eye? Even a diamond isn't this hard." Ai Yue was somewhat speechless.
"Since the left eye won't budge, I can only try the right eye."
Ai Yue carefully poked the right eye with her military knife. As expected, it was incredibly fragile and could be pierced with just a little force.
She became even more careful, slowly applying pressure along the edge of the eye socket. With a "puchi" sound, it was like the sound of an eggshell cracking.
With a clever use of force, Ai Yue successfully dug out the Devil Frog's right eye.
The moment the right eye left the body, the Devil Frog instantly turned into fly ash and vanished.
At that moment, the bloody right eye in Ai Yue's hand flew into the air and began to spin rapidly.
The speed of the rotation gradually increased until it became a blur.
Ai Yue only blinked, and the Devil Frog's right eye had already disappeared.
Following this was the spatial vibration Ai Yue was familiar with. This time the commotion was even smaller, but the effect was visible to the naked eye.
On the vacant land in the northwest corner of the space, the originally incredibly hard ground instantly turned into a 10-square-meter patch of black fertile land.
Ai Yue pinched a bit of soil and rubbed it between her fingers. The soil was loamy and clay-like; it was the most fertile soil.
"I didn't expect that the Devil Frog's right eye could actually cause the space to transform again, even giving me land. Does this mean I can achieve freedom with vegetables and grain in the future?" Ai Yue felt a surge of joy and couldn't help but mutter to herself.
"However, this land is too small. It seems I still need to obtain more right eyes."
After saying this, she felt a sensation of pain coming from her hands.
"Tsk!"
The Devil Frog's defense was too formidable. Only by knocking the Devil Frog unconscious could one safely remove the right eye.
To knock it unconscious, one had to pummel its head for ten minutes!
Her fists were also made of flesh and blood; over time, her hands would become very painful.
Currently, she hadn't found a weapon that could perfectly withstand her strength, so she could only use her fists.
Stumbling upon this unexpected surprise, Ai Yue's whim today turned out to be the right move.
Knowing a way to upgrade the space faster, Ai Yue couldn't contain her excitement. She immediately called her parents, informing them she would be out for a while. If they encountered danger or if the situation was unclear, they should immediately hide in the Seed Bank and not take risks.
After finishing her instructions to her family, Ai Yue left this unknown and mysterious mountain range alone.
Ai Yue reverted to being a lone wolf in the Apocalypse. For some reason, at the thought of venturing alone into the peril-filled Apocalypse, she felt a faint sense of excitement.
Ai Yue thought to herself that she wasn't a person who loved adventure. In her previous life, she had had enough of a wandering existence. Now that she finally had a stable place to stay and her own family, she didn't want to take risks at all; she only wanted to stay home peacefully.
As for that faint excitement in her heart, it must be an illusion, not real!
Yes, that's it!
She would never admit that the bloodthirsty factors in her body were clamoring, wanting to be bathed in blood at all times and wanting a more stimulating life.
Ai Yue tried hard to suppress the impulse in her heart, searching along the way for small groups of Devil Frogs or lone ones.
Currently, the entire continent was occupied by Devil Frogs, with only a few Ancient Centipedes active outside. Whenever they encountered a Devil Frog, the Ancient Centipedes were like mice seeing a cat, scurrying into the ground to flee for their lives.
The weakest humans, having learned the weaknesses of the Ancient Centipedes and Devil Frogs, could instead survive quite well in the cracks.
Along the way, Ai Yue actually encountered several groups of people who called themselves Hunter.
They specialized in hunting Ancient Centipedes and Devil Frogs.
The Devil Frogs had a layer of invulnerable skin that made some people with ulterior motives covet it.
That Mysterious Faction specifically posted notices in human gathering places, using food to buy Devil Frog skins or Ancient Centipede transparent stones at high prices.
Before the Devil Frogs appeared, the Mysterious Faction didn't lack transparent stones; they only needed to venture out and kill some to get enough.
But now, the appearance of the Devil Frogs caused the Ancient Centipedes to burrow underground, and the number of transparent stones plummeted.
The Mysterious Faction had to issue bounties to collect transparent stones.
As for the Devil Frog skins, they also coveted them, but so far no one had actually obtained any.
The Devil Frog was a miraculous creature. If a killed Devil Frog's skin wasn't peeled off within a certain time...
Once time was up, the skin lost its invulnerable properties, and the entire Devil Frog would rapidly decay, eventually turning into a pile of withered bones that would crumble at a touch.
So, to peel off an intact skin, there was currently no weapon that could do it.
People who could be Hunter were inherently very capable. Combined with carrying firearms, they managed to thrive in a world dominated by Devil Frogs, living comfortably without worrying about food or drink.
At this moment, just as Ai Yue had finished pummeling a Devil Frog unconscious, she was spotted.
Just as Ai Yue was feeling physically and mentally exhausted, a seven-person team emerged.
The Scar-faced Big Man at the very edge of the team stepped forward and said in a coarse voice:
"Jie jie jie, Little Girl, you've got some skills. To actually beat a big toad to death with just your fists, you're top-notch!"
After saying that, he gave Ai Yue a thumbs up.
