128: Special Devil Frog
She never did anything she regretted; even with this outcome, she wouldn't regret it. She only regretted not being strong enough to successfully kill Ai Yue.
"Are you really determined to wipe us out?" Sister Liu shouted sternly.
"Yes! It's come to this, and you still expect me to let you go? Do you think that's possible?"
Ai Yue paused, then continued speaking in a gentle tone:
"That man was willing to give his life for you. He had the ability to escape but gave the chance of survival to you. How could you bear to let him face death alone?
His feelings for you are as clear as the sun and moon; how could you bear to abandon him? So, what reason do you have to cling to life?"
Ai Yue followed behind her, speaking slowly. Every word she uttered was like a knife stabbing into Sister Liu's heart.
"I..."
"Stop with the 'I's. You should go accompany him, while he hasn't gone too far on the road to the yellow springs!"
With that, she raised her hand, and a vine as thick as a wrist shot out rapidly toward the fleeing Sister Liu, instantly binding her tightly.
Sister Liu looked at the familiar vine on her body, her face filled with shock. "You, how do you have Da Wei's Superpower?"
"What do you think!"
Ai Yue didn't waste words with her. She kicked Sister Liu away, then lunged forward, driving a gleaming military knife straight into her heart.
Sister Liu stared fixedly at Ai Yue. Being naturally intelligent, she instantly understood what was happening. Shock flashed in her eyes; she hadn't expected such a Superpower to exist in the world—one capable of converting another's Superpower for one's own use!
This ability was too heaven-defying... Previously, her limited perspective had made her believe she was invincible without ever suffering defeat. Over time, she gradually lost that necessary caution.
Sister Liu managed to speak with difficulty, her eyes full of hatred, stuttering, "You, you are just a monster..."
Finally, she gradually lost her life, filled with unwillingness.
Ai Yue then delivered another stab to her body, completely extinguishing any chance of life.
"You are the monster; I am naturally gifted!" Ai Yue said to Sister Liu's corpse, rolling her eyes.
Ai Yue didn't linger and quickly left.
Not long after she left, a bright green Devil Frog jumped out of the dense forest. It was about two sizes smaller than a normal Devil Frog. It hopped to Sister Liu's corpse, lowered its head to sniff, and a hint of human-like joy flashed in its eyes.
It extended its tongue, coiled up Sister Liu's corpse, and swallowed it whole, closing its eyes in ecstasy.
After a moment, it opened its eyes and sniffed the surroundings.
It quickly locked onto a direction, leaped once, and vanished without a trace.
The direction it went was exactly where Ai Yue had departed.
The journey ahead was not peaceful!
Those with strength were unwilling to hide like turtles in the Safety Tower or other safe zones; they yearned for the outside world.
Gradually, more and more people ventured out, and many managed to survive. Thus, humanity found its own way to survive.
Ai Yue left the dense forest and immediately encountered another group of people.
Seeing the lone woman, this group backed away and skirted around her.
Until Ai Yue was far away, a young man in the crowd quietly asked in confusion, "Brother Qin, why did we have to go around that woman?"
A bearded man patted his shoulder and said, "You must remember, in the future, if you encounter someone with clean clothes traveling alone, you must stay far away.
In this world, anyone daring to roam alone is either crazy or exceptionally powerful.
We must keep our distance from such people! Especially women!"
Although the young man was still confused, he obediently nodded, "I remember, Brother Qin!"
Just as this group was preparing to move on, a bright green toad suddenly darted out from beside them.
Everyone stepped back a meter in fright. Seeing so many delicious little snacks before it, the green toad excitedly croaked once.
The group's faces grew solemn, and they stood ready. They had never seen a Devil Frog this green before.
At this moment, the green Devil Frog was about to flick out its tongue to attack the group.
Just as the battle was about to erupt, the green Devil Frog tilted its head, hesitation appearing in its eyes, as if deep in thought.
Suddenly, it turned and leaped in Ai Yue's direction. As it left, a look of regret appeared in its eyes.
"That big toad seemed intelligent! Did I see wrong?"
"You didn't see wrong. It is indeed different from other Devil Frogs, but for some reason, it suddenly let us go."
"Could it be because of that woman just now? The direction this Devil Frog left in is the same direction the woman left!"
The group discussed animatedly.
"Alright, whatever the reason, now is not the time to talk about it. We need to leave this place quickly and head in a different direction!" the bearded man said with a grave expression.
Ai Yue was unaware of what happened behind her and continued according to her own plan.
So far, she had obtained three right eyes, and the land in her spatial dimension had expanded to 30 square meters.
Ai Yue felt mixed emotions. She was happy because the black fertile land would expand as long as sufficient Devil Frog right eyes were provided.
The difficulty was that Devil Frog right eyes were becoming increasingly hard to obtain. She rarely encountered solitary or small groups of Devil Frogs.
She encountered many Devil Frog swarms, but she couldn't just grab one and beat it. If she couldn't land consecutive critical hits on the head, she couldn't knock a Devil Frog unconscious.
Ai Yue avoided large Devil Frog swarms and encountered several groups of clueless fools along the way, all of whom she eliminated.
She was becoming more proficient with her many Superpowers. Using them skillfully along the way also allowed Ai Yue to discover new ways to use them.
She could instantly merge several Superpowers together to form an even more potent one.
What was even more valuable was that with a mere thought from Ai Yue, this new combined Superpower could disperse into several of the original Superpowers when engaging an enemy, catching them completely off guard.
As Ai Yue traveled, she left a trail of corpses, including humans, Alien Insects, and even several rarely seen Ancient Centipedes.
If someone observant had tracked Ai Yue's progress, they would have noticed that the corpses of everyone she killed, whether human or Alien Insect, would disappear moments later.
The perpetrator causing all of this was that green Devil Frog.
Ai Yue killed along the way, and it ate along the way, like a bottomless glutton that could never be satisfied.
After an unknown amount of time, Ai Yue gradually noticed something unusual about the presence following her.
After killing another group—a five-person hunting squad looking for trouble—Ai Yue did not leave but instead hid stealthily nearby.
She wanted to see what happened after she left.
After about six or seven minutes, a bright green Devil Frog came into view.
It looked around and, upon seeing the pile of corpses, a hint of joy flashed in its eyes.
Without hesitation, it ate the five corpses, looking utterly blissful, and even happily spun around twice on the spot after finishing.
