50: Minor injury, nothing serious.

"Damn it, I don't believe it. Shoot its tires! Don't let it get away; keep it here. I don't believe we can't break it open."

"Yes, sir."

...Another round of machine gun fire... After a moment, everyone fell silent.

"Brother Xiong... the, the tires won't break either," the man beside Brother Xiong said with a bitter face.

"Damn it, what kind of crappy car is this? How can a car be so sturdy that even the wheels can't be shot through?" Brother Xiong said furiously.

"Brother Xiong, I know what kind of car this is," a man wearing glasses said weakly.

"You know what car this is? Then why haven't you said it yet?" Brother Xiong glared with wide, impatient eyes.

"Oh, oh, this is a car made in South Africa. It's not sold domestically at all. It's called a marauder. The whole body is bulletproof, and even the wheels are bulletproof tires. Ordinary bullets can't do anything to it; only armor-piercing rounds can penetrate it."

"So impressive!" Brother Xiong marveled, feeling more and more that Ai Yue was full of treasures. He had to capture her and make her hand over her secrets. Once she was caught, wouldn't such a great car be his?

Men—who doesn't love cars? Especially in the Apocalypse where resources are scarce, having such a hunk of metal would greatly increase one's safety.

"Brothers, find a way to catch that little girl, and this car will be ours. Whoever catches her will have the right to use this car." Brother Xiong's small eyes were full of calculation; he needed some cannon fodder to test if Ai Yue still had bullets.

Sure enough, three reckless youths volunteered. They liked the car too much; to get the right to use it, a surge of adrenaline hit their brains, and they instantly ignored life and death. One word: do it!

Ai Yue was fully armed, wearing a bulletproof vest and helmet, with guns set up in every direction. If they dared to approach, she would give them a taste of her bullets. If she couldn't hit them, no problem—she had grenades waiting for them.

In any case, today she was in a life-and-death struggle with them. They wanted to kill her for her treasures, and Ai Yue wanted to kill them to keep her secrets!

The three reckless youths chose to crawl forward. Ai Yue sneered in her heart. Did they think she couldn't see them if they crawled? What a joke!

Ai Yue didn't wait for them to come forward; she switched to a sniper rifle, aimed, fired—headshot!

Ai Yue's face turned pale with pain. To keep them from approaching, she didn't even care about the wound on her arm. With a "clack-clack," she quickly ejected the shell and chambered a round, aimed again, fired—perfect, another headshot!

Before he had crawled very far, the remaining person saw the two on his left and right get their heads blown off. Terrified, he screamed, "Don't kill me!" and hugged himself, rolling backward in a wavy pattern, immediately dodging Ai Yue's aim.

However, it was no use!

He still couldn't dodge Ai Yue's bullet and was still headshot.

The others were horrified and retreated in unison.

Brother Xiong spat a thick glob of phlegm on the ground with a "ptui" and said unwillingly, "That bitch is truly ruthless."

"Old Seven, go back and find some thick wooden planks. I don't believe we can't get close to that car," Brother Xiong said with a fierce expression.

A man who looked like a skinny monkey responded, grabbed two people next to him, quickly jumped into a vehicle, and drove away.

Ai Yue struggled to lift the sniper rifle and aimed at the leader, Brother Xiong; she wanted to take him out!

Just as she was about to pull the trigger, Brother Xiong alertly hid behind someone else, perfectly concealing himself.

"Old fox!" she muttered unwillingly.

Gritting her teeth, she fired. The person in front of Brother Xiong fell to the ground. Brother Xiong was startled and immediately distanced himself from the car, shouting, "Fire! Fire! Cover me! Retreat!"

Before he even finished shouting, the others had already run toward the vehicles and hidden behind them.

Both sides of the road were pitted wasteland. There was only a patch of bushes in front of Ai Yue's car, and behind her were hills with sparse trees. They had nowhere to hide except behind the vehicles they had driven there.

Seeing that they didn't dare to come forward for the time being, Ai Yue put down her gun. The pain in her arm was becoming unbearable. Gritting her teeth, she simply disinfected and bandaged herself.

She carefully examined the location of the wound and muttered to herself, "Fortunately, it won't be hard to take out. I'll deal with this group of people first."

After eating a few pieces of chocolate to replenish her strength, she lifted the sniper rifle again and aimed at the vehicles opposite her. As soon as someone poked their head out, she fired quickly, successfully killing another person.

During this process, Ai Yue almost shot Brother Xiong. The bullet grazed his scalp, leaving a "Mediterranean" bald spot.

Brother Xiong was exasperated and had a fierce look in his eyes, swearing to make her pay.

Just then, the person who had gone back to town for wooden planks returned, also bringing some steel plates. Brother Xiong felt that with these, getting close to the marauder would be no problem at all. He gleefully imagined how he would torture Ai Yue.

Brother Xiong ordered them into pairs, bending over and holding three-centimeter-thick wooden planks in front of them, moving toward Ai Yue bit by bit.

Seeing this, Ai Yue realized her sniper rifle was no longer useful. They were completely covered by wooden and steel plates, leaving no place for her to strike.

Refusing to give up, Ai Yue switched to a submachine gun. When the group came within range, she suddenly opened fire. The continuous shooting and fierce firepower made one pair's hands tremble; they couldn't hold the wooden plank steady and died under the gunfire.

Seeing that the effect wasn't great, Ai Yue changed her approach. She randomly selected a wooden plank and fired continuously at the same spot. This method proved useful; the wooden plank was soon shattered with wood chips flying everywhere, and the person behind it was riddled with bullets.

The others took the opportunity to move quickly and soon arrived nearby.

Ai Yue's eyes turned sharp as she picked up a grenade, preparing to throw it and blow these bastards to pieces. To her surprise, before she could pull the pin, the group in front of the car was suddenly attacked.

Ai Yue was startled. Who was it?

Six or seven military-green pickup trucks suddenly appeared on the road she had come from.

Those people were suddenly attacked and tried to run, but unfortunately, before they could take two steps, they were surrounded by Ai Yue and the new third party. In a short while, they were all wiped out.

Although this group was eliminated, Ai Yue didn't know if the newcomers were friends or foes. She didn't dare to be careless, staying quietly in the car and looking at the arrivals with a wary expression.

The people driving the military-green pickups stopped five meters away from Ai Yue.

From the lead vehicle, the door opened and a person stepped out. It was actually Gu Xiheng, whom she hadn't seen since arriving at the Safety Tower.

Ai Yue looked at the grenade in her hand, then at Gu Xiheng walking toward her, shrugged, and put it away with a flick of her hand.

Gu Xiheng walked up to the tall marauder and grinned. "Ai Yue, we meet again."

Seeing it was him, Ai Yue lowered her guard, opened the car door, and jumped down. "It's you? What are you doing in such a remote place?"

Gu Xiheng acted as if he hadn't heard Ai Yue's question. Seeing her pale face, he quickly took two steps forward, his right hand reaching out to grab hers. His voice carried a hint of nervousness that even he hadn't noticed: "You're injured? You've lost so much blood."

Ai Yue inconspicuously dodged his hand and said nonchalantly, "It's nothing, just a minor injury. No vital organs were hit."
