49: Kicked out of space

What's going on? I'm not allowed in? Who kicked me out? Da Wang is still inside.

Ai Yue's heart sank, and cold sweat poured down. All her supplies were in the space; if she couldn't get back in... the mere thought was terrifying to her!

Unwilling to give up, Ai Yue tried every ten minutes. Without exception, not only could she not enter, but she couldn't even take things out.

Ai Yue kept taking deep breaths, telling herself not to panic, as panicking was useless.

After pacing in circles and feeling anxious for three hours, she tried again and found she could take things out of the space. However, she still couldn't enter herself. Even so, Ai Yue wasn't as anxious anymore.

Sensing through her mind, she saw Da Wang was still lying there, staring longingly at the meat, completely unaware that Ai Yue had disappeared.

At this moment, Ai Yue realized that the space had a time limit.

She had never stayed in the space for more than an hour before, so she hadn't known about this situation at all.

As for why Da Wang could stay in the space, Ai Yue thought that this rule might only apply to humans.

After worrying for three hours, Ai Yue's stomach had long been growling. She took out a lunch box from the space and finished it quickly to fill her stomach.

"It's my own fault. I've had the space for so long and haven't fully understood its functions. Luckily, I wasn't hiding in the space during a dangerous situation, otherwise... my end would have been miserable. I must take this as a lesson!" Ai Yue muttered to herself as she continued on her way in the marauder.

She planned to tour the nearby towns and then head home. She had been out for three days; if she stayed away much longer, her parents would worry.

Once she returned, she would give the satellite phone to her parents. That way, no matter where she went, they could contact her.

The world outside was indeed dangerous.

Just as she was about to reach the town she intended to visit, an accident occurred. Ai Yue, driving the marauder, wasn't paying enough attention and fell into a large pit set as a trap.

More than half of the front of the car plunged into the pit. Ai Yue was a bit angry. Who was so unethical as to dig such a large pit in the road? And they even concealed it—who were they trying to trap?

"Who was it that said where there is no road, the marauder comes and a road appears? Hmph, false advertising!"

Ai Yue struggled out of the driver's seat, opened the iron sunroof, and climbed out. She jumped out of the pit from the rear of the car. She didn't dare stay too long; since someone had set a trap on the road, there was surely a group nearby specifically robbing passersby.

Ai Yue put away the marauder and noticed a car approaching. She quickly ducked behind the nearby bushes, hiding her tracks and waiting silently.

Sure enough, a few minutes later, two cars drove from the direction of the town and quickly arrived at the edge of the pit. A group of people piled out, all carrying weapons, with half of them holding firearms.

With firearms present, Ai Yue didn't dare act rashly and decided to observe quietly first.

The people who got out found that the trap had been triggered, but there was nothing in the pit, which left them puzzled.

"Brother Xiong, what's going on? Xiao Li clearly saw a big fellow fall in, so how is it gone?"

"Could that kid Xiao Li have been seeing things? Maybe he was mistaken, and it wasn't a car at all, but something else?"

"How long has it been since any prey fell in? He must have been seeing things."

..."Enough! A car definitely fell in, but somehow it got away. But in such a short time, who has the strength to pull a car out of the pit? Strange!" The man called Brother Xiong crouched by the pit, observed carefully for a moment, then stood up to stop their chattering.

"A few of you, go search the surrounding area," Brother Xiong ordered.

Hearing the command, the group scattered at once.

Ai Yue thought to herself that this was bad. She still couldn't use the space to hide, and they would definitely find her while searching. Most importantly, they had guns.

Ai Yue quietly took a submachine gun out of the space and aimed it at those walking toward her.

The worst happened: someone spotted Ai Yue from the side.

He immediately raised his gun at Ai Yue, fired a shot, and shouted, "Brother Xiong, there's someone here!"

Ai Yue rolled backward in time to dodge the shot, then quickly adjusted her posture and fired back at the man.

With the sound of the gunshot, the man fell to the ground.

The group didn't expect Ai Yue to have a gun as well. They scrambled for cover and began firing fiercely toward Ai Yue's position.

The area was filled with low bushes, which couldn't block the intense enemy fire at all.

Ai Yue lay prone on the ground. Bullets constantly flew over her head and landed around her body; it was only a matter of time before she was hit.

She had no choice but to take the marauder out of the space to block her front. Only when the behemoth landed did she get a moment to breathe.

By doing this, her space ability was exposed.

Sure enough, the group was stunned by the sudden appearance of the large vehicle, unable to believe what they were seeing. They weren't stupid and immediately guessed that Ai Yue held a secret. If that secret belonged to them... thinking of this possibility, their eyes lit up instantly, and they all ran toward Ai Yue with excitement.

Ai Yue's gaze turned cold, knowing that these people now knew about her space.

In that case, none of them could be left alive. When she was serious, Ai Yue's marksmanship was superb, hitting every target.

In a very short time, she killed three people by herself. But the opponents weren't pushovers and quickly retaliated.

She didn't know where they found so much ammunition, but their fire was extremely fierce. Ai Yue was accidentally hit in the left arm by a bullet. Injured, she was pinned down and couldn't even lift her head.

Hiding behind the car, Ai Yue clutched her wounded arm, calmed her rapid breathing, and quickly opened the car door to scramble inside, planning to leave the area first.

When luck is bad, even drinking cold water can get stuck in your teeth. As Ai Yue endured the pain and started the car to leave, she didn't expect the marauder to suddenly stop just as it began to move.

No matter how she tried the ignition, it was useless!

Ai Yue checked carefully—it was out of fuel!

"Holy crap!"

Looking at the dashboard, Ai Yue couldn't help but curse.

What was going on? Why was there no warning when it was running out of fuel?

Ai Yue rubbed her temples helplessly. What should she do now?

Although the marauder was known as the toughest car, there had to be a limit to that.

Now that she was injured and the car couldn't move, hadn't she become a lamb for the slaughter?

Ai Yue tried again to see if she could enter the space, but the result disappointed her; she still couldn't get in. How frustrating!

She remembered that she had stockpiled a box of grenades, and now was the time for them to come in handy.

She took out three grenades for use.

During this time, the group hadn't been idle and were all firing at the car.

"Brother Xiong, it's no good. This thing is like a turtle shell; it's useless no matter where we hit it. We can't even break the glass."
