228: What bad luck, how did I end up saving them again?

Gu Xiheng didn't wait for the others to persuade him further. Aiming at the pile of zombie corpses not far ahead, he fired several consecutive shots with his ability gun, temporarily clearing the nearby zombies, and rushed over quickly.

"Brother!"

"Xiheng!"

Gu Xitian and Cheng Siyu didn't expect him to act immediately after speaking, and their expressions changed drastically.

There was no panic in Gu Xiheng's eyes. Taking advantage of the fact that the zombies hadn't surrounded him yet, he quickly started digging out crystal cores.

However, expectations were high, but reality was harsh; he hadn't even dug out one before the zombies behind him swarmed up with extreme speed.

"Brother, come back quickly! Those are Level 3 zombies, you aren't faster than them!" Gu Xitian shouted anxiously.

Gu Xiheng also realized that he simply didn't have time to take the zombie crystal cores.

He was about to retreat, but it was already too late; in an instant, he was surrounded by the zombies.

Cheng Siyu and the others were extremely anxious. Jing Xi frowned deeply, but they also had no chance to support Gu Xiheng, as an overwhelming number of zombies were already closing in on them.

At this critical moment, a huge Lightning Orb exploded above their heads, raining down thousands of lightning bolts that struck the zombies.

All the zombies surrounding them immediately lost their ability to move, their bodies crackling with electricity as they froze in place.

Looking at the scene before her, Cheng Siyu's face turned pale as she murmured, "Ai Yue, it's actually Ai Yue. Why is it you who saved us again? Why are you so hauntingly persistent!"

Seeing this sudden turn of events, Jing Xi silently withdrew her hand, which had been forming a hand seal behind her back. It seemed there was no need to run away anymore.

At that moment, Ai Yue walked out from the white mist. With a wave of her hand, all the nearby mist was swallowed by a Fire Dragon, and the figures of the group were revealed.

When Ai Yue saw that the trapped people were actually her enemies, her face darkened. Without saying a word, she turned to leave.

Seeing Ai Yue about to leave, Gu Xiheng hurriedly called out, "Ai Yue, don't go! Thank you for saving us."

Ai Yue's face grew even darker, and she said in a bad tone, "I didn't want to save them. If I had known it was them who were trapped, I wouldn't have come."

Ai Yue clicked her tongue in annoyance and quickly left the area.

Seeing this, Gu Xiheng quickly urged the others, "Let's go, we won't be able to leave in a while."

Regardless, Cheng Siyu and the others quickly followed Gu Xiheng out of there. Although they didn't feel grateful to Ai Yue at all, they were glad to have survived and not been fed to the zombies.

Gu Xiheng didn't forget to dig up some crystal cores while escaping. Once they were far from the zombie horde, they stopped, but Ai Yue was already long gone and was not with them at all.

Gu Xiheng felt both grateful and disappointed. Fortunately, Ai Yue had descended from the sky and saved their lives. Thinking about how she was always a sharp tongue but a soft heart—saying she wouldn't help them but still freezing the zombies to let them leave.

At this thought, the corners of his mouth curled up.

Meanwhile, Ai Yue, who found them to be bad luck, had already distanced herself from them. She really hadn't expected that her momentary kindness would result in saving her enemies; it was truly annoying.

Ai Yue ignored Gu Xiheng and the others behind her and walked quickly toward the center.

Along the way, whenever she encountered trapped people, she would lend a hand. Since she had already saved her enemies, saving others was just a matter of convenience.

To others, the white mist area was extremely dangerous, but to Ai Yue, it wasn't difficult at all.

She pushed through all the way until she approached the Nameless Monster.

After walking for an unknown amount of time, Ai Yue finally stepped out of the white mist and entered the Central Zone.

Surprisingly, the Central Zone was not covered by mist; there was only a patch of white clouds churning overhead.

Looking out, in the middle of the ruins, a hideous, giant creature lay there, sleeping.

From its mouth and nose, with every breath, streams of white mist were exhaled, circling once above the monster's head before slowly rising into the air and spreading in all directions.

While she was observing her surroundings, a voice called out in surprise from behind her to the right: "Ai Yue?"

Ai Yue turned her head and saw Gong Qiuqiu sitting on a large rock, absorbing energy from a crystal core.

"You actually arrived so early?" Ai Yue couldn't help but ask.

"Yeah, I arrived an hour ago," Gong Qiuqiu said with a shrug.

"Are you that powerful? I knew you were strong, but I didn't expect you to be this strong—to pass through the white mist zone so quickly."

Ai Yue was amazed. He had actually arrived earlier than her. One must know that she had pushed through the whole way; although she had taken a wrong turn, she hadn't wasted much time.

"I wouldn't dare call myself powerful in front of you," Gong Qiuqiu said modestly.

Ai Yue curled her lips. "Alright, stop pretending. To be able to deal with the zombie hordes so quickly, how could you not be powerful?"

"Zombies? What zombies? I didn't encounter a single zombie along the way. You guys ran into them?" Gong Qiuqiu asked in confusion.

Ai Yue looked at him with disbelief. "What kind of Chosen One are you? You didn't run into any zombies on your way here?"

"That's right."

Could it be that the black zombie they encountered when they separated was meant to kill both of them? But since she had dealt with it, no more zombies dared to come?

That couldn't be right; she had encountered quite a few zombies later on.

It could only be said that Gong Qiuqiu's luck was simply too good.

Everyone else was in the mist, fighting for their lives, while this guy had leisurely arrived at the final destination.

Ai Yue felt a bit upset. Why hadn't such good luck fallen on her? She had worked so hard along the way!

"Alright, none of that matters now. Take a look at this monster; do you think we have a chance of killing it with our abilities?" Gong Qiuqiu waved his hand dismissively and spoke solemnly about the monster.

Ai Yue looked at the thick-skinned monster and weighed the situation for a long time, only to find there was simply no way to start.

"Look at the scales on its body; they look incredibly hard. With our little bit of energy, it's a long shot. The other parts look solid too. Let's wait for the others to arrive and ask them; I don't have any ideas."

Ai Yue observed carefully for a while and said with a helpless shake of her head.

Gong Qiuqiu frowned deeply. He had also been observing it for a long time since he arrived, and it was indeed as Ai Yue said—very troublesome.

They also weren't sure what would happen if they accidentally woke it up. Presumably, that situation would be something they couldn't control.

Ai Yue sat down next to Gong Qiuqiu and meditated to rest.

She had also consumed a lot of physical strength along the way. While the others hadn't come out yet, she planned to take a good rest.

The two didn't say anything more, and the surroundings fell silent.

As the sun began to set, people started emerging from the white mist one after another.

Seeing Ai Yue and the other person meditating and completely unharmed, no one spoke. They silently walked to the side to recover their Superpowers and physical strength.

More or less, these people had received help from Ai Yue in the white mist, so they felt a sense of gratitude toward her.
