244: Your Majesty, could you please stop watching cartoons?
The zombie that Ai Yue had paralyzed with her lightning strike was quickly finished off by Ai Guosheng and Ye Rui from behind.
Li Shilan stood in the middle of the three, constantly casting Healing spells on them, keeping them at their peak condition.
The group worked together seamlessly, and the crystal cores from the zombies in front of them fell like rain, as if they were worthless.
Not far from them, an adventurer team watched the operations of Ai Yue's family with expressions of utter disbelief.
They had been stationed here for three months, specifically to hunt zombies and earn crystal cores. With a team of over thirty people, they harvested less than a hundred crystal cores daily, and casualties were a constant threat.
Even so, they were considered one of the most successful teams in earning crystal cores, aside from the elite squads of the Safety Tower.
But what was happening before their eyes?
Where did these people come from? How were they so powerful?
"Boss... is this scene real? Am I just too tired and hallucinating?" A skinny young man, resembling a monkey, unconsciously tugged on Shang Guan's sleeve, muttering to himself.
Shang Guan snapped out of his daze and slapped the skinny man on the head, saying irritably, "Still think it's a hallucination?"
The skinny man blinked, rubbing his head. "Damn, it really is real. Holy shit, are they even human?"
"Smack!"
The skinny man rubbed his head, looking aggrieved. "What's the big idea, boss? Hitting me so hard, you almost knocked my brains out."
Shang Guan glared, his beard bristling. "Are you an idiot? Knowing how powerful they are, and you still run your mouth without thinking. If you don't value your own life, don't drag us down with you."
The skinny man fell silent, afraid that Ai Yue and the others might hear him and end his life.
Ai Yue and her group didn't even need to move from their spot; zombies kept pouring in endlessly, and among them were many third-tier zombies.
With Li Shilan around, the group didn't need to rest, killing zombies from morning till night.
A thick layer of crystal cores had already piled up in front of them, but they were too busy to pick them up, leaving the cores scattered on the ground.
Several groups of people had come and gone nearby. Some with shallow intentions tried to steal a few while Ai Yue and the others were distracted, but they were all given a proper welcome with Ai Yue's lightning.
Those with strong abilities managed to survive, but those who were weak and greedy ended up as charred, dried-up corpses.
After that, everyone knew that these people were not the merciful type. Those with sneaky ideas, valuing their lives, dared not entertain such thoughts again.
"Mom, Dad, Rui Rui, we've been killing all day, and it's getting dark. Let's call it a day and continue tomorrow!" Ai Yue glanced at the horizon and said.
"Okay, now that you mention it, I am feeling a bit tired," Ye Rui said.
"Tired is one thing, but I'm starving! I haven't eaten all day!" Ai Guosheng complained, sounding a bit aggrieved.
These two kids got more and more excited killing zombies, making him too hungry to dare interrupt their fun.
Ai Yue smiled apologetically. "Seeing all those crystal cores on the ground, I just wanted more. I didn't realize it had gotten so late. I promise it won't happen tomorrow."
"Ah, it's fine, it's fine. Just make sure you bring out some good food later, and maybe a bottle of wine!" Ai Guosheng said dismissively.
Ai Yue smiled helplessly. "Alright!"
"I'll hold off the zombies rushing in. You guys pick up the crystal cores on the ground. Once we're done, we can leave," Ai Yue added.
Ai Yue wielded lightning in one hand and Annihilation in the other, forcing the zombies to retreat step by step. Without the others' help, the harvest of crystal cores wasn't as plentiful.
Several adventurer teams watched Ai Yue from a distance, their eyes filled with envy and jealousy.
Half an hour later, Ai Guosheng and the others finally finished collecting all the crystal cores.
"Rui Rui, help me buy us some time to escape," Ai Yue said.
"You got it."
Combining the sisters' lightning powers doubled the effect, and they quickly shook off the pursuing zombies.
During this process, countless more zombie crystal cores fell to the ground, only to be buried by the swarming zombies.
Ai Yue and the others didn't care about those crystal cores; their only goal was to get away quickly.
This scene made the adventurer teams drool with envy. The crystal cores that Ai Yue's group left behind would be unclaimed once they left. After the zombies retreated, they could pick them up for free.
They only needed to wait for Ai Yue's group to leave and the zombies to retreat before rushing to grab the crystal cores on the ground. The only thing they had to watch out for was other team members competing for the cores.
Ignoring the people behind them, Ai Yue and her family found a safe place to settle down.
"Quick, let's see how many crystal cores we harvested today!" Ye Rui said excitedly.
So many shiny things piled together really lifted one's spirits.
They each counted and tallied the total: 13,800 first-tier crystal cores, 30,000 second-tier crystal cores, and 9,500 third-tier crystal cores.
They hadn't expected such a huge harvest, especially the significant number of third-tier crystal cores.
"Wow, if we stay here for a month, then..." Ye Rui's unfinished sentence made her implication clear to everyone.
"Mm, we still need to hurry and collect more. We don't know when the major Safety Towers will go deal with the Nameless Monster, so we should gather as many crystal cores as possible before then," Ai Yue nodded in agreement.
Everyone agreed, and even Ai Guosheng, who didn't want to sacrifice lunchtime for zombie hunting, didn't object this time, feeling their reasoning was sound.
"Sister, put all these crystal cores into your space," Ye Rui said.
"Do any of you still have crystal cores on you? If not, take some. I'll let the space devour the rest."
"The crystal cores we got last time are enough for us for ten years. You can put all of these into the space," Li Shilan said.
The other two nodded in agreement.
They understood why Ai Yue was so eager to upgrade her space—it was for their sake. So, they had no complaints.
Ai Yue nodded without a word, waved her hand, and the huge pile of crystal cores on the ground vanished.
With so many crystal cores entering the space, it immediately began to vibrate with a familiar tremor.
Ai Yue's heart raced with hope that the space would level up this time.
A moment later, the vibrations stopped, and Ai Yue instantly flashed into the space.
Ai Yue saw that the space had expanded again, and the sky had grown higher, but there were no other noticeable changes.
She walked into the villa and found it unchanged, just as it had always been.
Only King was lying on the sofa, intently watching the cartoon 'Tom and Jerry.'
When Ai Yue entered, King just glanced at her before turning back to the TV.
Seeing him like this, Ai Yue sat down beside him and said in a displeased tone, "King, you can't just watch cartoons here all day, you know? You're almost completely disconnected from the outside world. With all your abilities, isn't it a waste to just sit here watching TV?"
