390: Chapter 390 Ten Miles of Red Makeup

At this moment, at the Tianlang Delegation residence.

The door that had been tightly shut for two days finally opened.

King Xuanyin walked out.

She had changed her clothes.

It was no longer that alluring purple dress, but a low-key moon-white robe.

Her long hair was draped loosely, and a plain silver hairpin was tucked behind her temple.

Her entire demeanor had shed its usual charm and flamboyance, replaced by a rare sense of tranquility.

Ai Wei, who was guarding the hallway, immediately stood up. Her cat ears twitched, and she hurried over to greet her:

"Revered Master! You've finally come out!"

King Xuanyin looked at her and gave a calm nod.

"Revered Master, these past two days…" Ai Wei carefully scrutinized her expression, "Are you alright?"

"I'm fine." King Xuanyin ruffled her hair, "I was just thinking about some things."

She paused for a moment and asked, "What day is tomorrow?"

"Tomorrow?" Ai Wei was stunned for a moment before realizing, "Tomorrow is the wedding of Lin Yun, Fei Xue, and Feiying."

"Oh." King Xuanyin nodded, her tone indifferent.

Seeing her so calm and detached, Ai Wei felt even more uneasy.

After hesitating for a long while, she finally gathered the courage to ask:

"Revered Master… are you going tomorrow?"

King Xuanyin did not answer immediately.

She walked to the window and pushed it open.

The evening breeze rushed in, fluttering the hem of her moon-white robe.

In the distance, the lanterns were just being lit, and the lights of ten thousand homes spread out, a scene of peace.

"I'm going," she said. "Why wouldn't I?"

Ai Wei breathed a sigh of relief, "Then I'll accompany you."

King Xuanyin turned to look at her, a look of surprise appearing in her eyes, "Accompany me?"

"Yes!" Ai Wei nodded, her fluffy cat tail swaying gently.

"If you don't want to face those people alone, Revered Master, I'll stand right beside you. I'll block whatever they say for you."

King Xuanyin looked at her for a long while, then suddenly smiled.

There was no trace of her usual allure or calculation in that smile, only a light, faint warmth.

"Silly girl."

She reached out and tucked a stray lock of hair behind Ai Wei's ear, "Alright, you can accompany me."

…The next day. Before dawn, Lingyuan City had already awakened.

Red silk hung on both sides of the streets, stretching all the way from the Lin Family Manor to the King Leiyin's mansion.

Long strings of red lanterns swayed gently in the morning breeze, bathing the entire street in a warm, red glow.

The wedding procession was grand and imposing, with drums, gongs, and suonas all complete.

At the head of the procession was Lin Yun, dressed in bright red wedding robes, riding a tall, snow-white horse.

A red silk flower ball was tied to his chest, and he looked spirited and imposing.

Behind him followed the wedding procession, stretching for a full ten miles.

The sides of the procession were crowded with onlookers.

Children ran behind the procession, waving small flags they had picked up from somewhere.

"Young Master Lin! Congratulations!"

"Marrying two princesses, what good fortune!"

"A Genius who defeated ten opponents at once, marrying our Lingyuan's twin pearls! A match made in heaven!"

Cheers and congratulations rose one after another. Lingyuan City was immersed in overwhelming joy.

King Leiyin's mansion was even more festively decorated. Red silk hung from the main gate all the way to the main hall, and bright red lanterns adorned every eave.

Maids and guards were rushing about, busy serving tea and water, arranging fruit platters, and organizing flower bouquets. Everyone had a smile on their face.

Fei Xue and Feiying were pressed down in front of the vanity by their mother, letting the maids fuss over them.

One hour passed. Two hours passed.

"Mother, are you done yet…" Feiying couldn't help but complain in a low voice.

"Almost, almost." Her mother smiled and held down her fidgeting head, "A bride must have patience."

Fei Xue sat beside her, quiet the whole time. She looked at her own cheeks in the mirror, flushed red with rouge. She also glanced at Feiying, who was being held down next to her.

The sisters' bright red wedding dresses were laid out side by side, like two peonies blooming on the same stem.

Her heart was pounding fiercely. That feeling—both sweet and anxious, expectant and fearful—made even her breathing become cautious.

"They're here! They're here! The wedding procession is here!"

"Lin Yun! That's Lin Yun! The champion of yesterday's competition! Today's groom!"

"He's so handsome! These wedding robes suit him perfectly!"

"I heard he's marrying King Leiyin's two granddaughters today, twins! The Light Sacred Body and the Dark Sacred Body!"

"Wow! That's such good fortune!"

The discussions, laughter, and cheers in the crowd intertwined, creating a lively atmosphere.

Lin Yun bowed to the well-wishers on both sides along the way, his smile remaining gentle throughout.

"The groom has arrived—!!!"

A high-pitched announcement came from outside the mansion, followed immediately by the earth-shaking sound of firecrackers.

The crackling and popping filled half the street, and red debris danced in the air, falling scattered in the morning light.

Fei Xue and Feiying simultaneously gripped the red silk in their hands. Their Red Bridal Veils were already covering their heads, leaving only a hazy red before their eyes.

"Come, brides, it's time to go." Their mother's voice carried a hint of choked emotion.

The two girls were helped up by the maids. They stepped over the threshold and walked toward the main hall, one step at a time.

Under the veils, they couldn't see anything, only hearing the surrounding clamor getting closer and louder.

Lin Yun stepped over the threshold and, guided by the maids, passed through the front hall, the courtyard, and the corridor, arriving at the main hall.

In the main hall, two red figures stood upright. Fei Xue and Feiying, dressed in phoenix crowns and ceremonial robes with Red Bridal Veils on their heads, stood there together.

Their figures were identical. Yet, Lin Yun recognized who was who at a single glance.

The one on the left stood straight, motionless and quiet. The one on the right was lightly scuffing the ground with her toes, her fingers gently twisting her sleeves. It was Fei Xue and Feiying.

He walked up to them, his voice gentle: "I have come to pick you up."

Fei Xue didn't speak, but under her veil, the corners of her mouth curled up. Feiying gave a soft hum: "Hmph, you arrived just in time."

Lin Yun smiled. The Revered Master of ceremonies nearby announced loudly: "Will the groom please escort the brides to the sedan chairs—"

Lin Yun reached out, holding Fei Xue with one hand and Feiying with the other. Both hands were trembling slightly.

Lin Yun gripped them a little tighter and led them toward the door. The wedding music played again, and the sound of drums and gongs filled the sky.

The eight-bearer sedan chairs were parked at the mansion gate, the curtains lifted. Fei Xue and Feiying were helped into the chairs by the maids.

Lin Yun mounted his horse, looked back at the sedan curtains, his heart full of joy.

The procession turned and headed grandly toward the Lin Family Manor. The red silk along the way fluttered in the morning breeze.

Petals were scattered from the pavilions on both sides, falling onto the sedan roofs and onto Lin Yun's shoulders, carpeting the ground in festivity.

"The brides have been brought back—!"

Fei Xue felt herself being helped to a standstill. A familiar, warm presence came from beside her. It was Feiying.

The sisters stood side by side, and even through the red silk, they could feel each other's slightly trembling fingertips.

The guest seats were completely full. Almost all the dignitaries and celebrities of the Lingyuan Empire had arrived.

King Blood Axe and King Feiyun sat in the front row, wearing expressions of gratified smiles.
