415: Chapter 415 King Scarlet Cloud: What's Wrong with Me?

The night was deep.

A day of work had ended.

Ziyi returned home and entered her room.

She did not turn on the lights, instead sitting on the edge of the bed by the moonlight filtering in from the window.

Her movement of sitting down was half a beat slower than usual, as if her body was performing some reluctant buffer.

Ziyi raised her hand to press her brow, closing her eyes.

She thought of the situation from the morning again.

Ziyi wondered what was wrong with her these past few days; why did she keep thinking of Lin Yun?

That morning, Lin Yun had come to see off King Xuanyin.

When she saw him, she had inexplicably panicked for a moment.

Afterward, her gaze had uncontrollably landed on him.

Her line of sight slid from his shoulders to his waist, and from his waist to his hands.

Slender fingers, with distinct knuckles and thin calluses on the pads.

Ziyi recalled the scene she had seen that night.

That hand was resting on Fei Xue's shoulder blade, the knuckles slightly curled, the pads of the fingers slowly moving down along the curve of the spine.

Every movement was gentle yet stimulating, carrying a composure that made it impossible to look away.

Ziyi opened her eyes abruptly.

The room was silent, save for the rustling of wind through the leaves outside the window.

She looked down at her own hands, her fingertips curling slightly.

What was wrong with her these past few days?

Ziyi frowned, forcing those images in her mind down.

She had lived for over seven thousand years, at the eighth stage of Cultivate, and her Heart-Nature had long been polished to be as steady as a rock.

She had seen countless romances and experienced countless temptations, but she had never been like this before.

A single image circled repeatedly in her mind, unable to be driven away.

An inexplicable irritation rose in her heart.

Ziyi stood up, walked to the window, and pushed it open.

The night breeze poured in, carrying the dampness of the flowers and plants in the courtyard.

She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly.

Tomorrow.

Tomorrow, Lin Yun would be marrying Ruozao again.

She had seen that young girl named Ruozao; she was gentle, with a very beautiful appearance.

Tomorrow, she would be sitting on the edge of the bed in her wedding dress, and Lin Yun would lift her veil and lean down to kiss her...

Ziyi's fingertips tightened abruptly.

Absurd.

What was wrong with her?

Why would she think of this scene?

Ziyi did not even know why she would continue thinking in this direction.

She shook her head vigorously, casting away those messy thoughts, and turned to walk to the Cultivation room.

She closed the door, sat cross-legged, and closed her eyes to enter meditation.

Ziyi forced herself to gather her focus and sink into the depths of her consciousness.

She circulated her Cultivation Technique over and over, attempting to completely crush those images from her mind.

The Cultivation Technique cycled through one major circuit, then another.

Those images were finally suppressed.

But Ziyi knew they had not disappeared; they had only been temporarily suppressed by her.

Just like Ziyi, King Feiyun was also sitting in her own Cultivation room.

She had been sitting for nearly two hours.

Since returning at dusk, she had gone straight into the Cultivation room and hadn't even eaten dinner.

King Feiyun closed her eyes, her breathing steady, as her Cultivation Technique flowed slowly within her body.

Everything looked normal, but only she knew that her mind had not completely settled.

Two scenes alternated repeatedly: one was the fiery scene she had seen that night, and the other was from this morning.

Lin Yun stood in the courtyard, his gaze fixed on the direction where the blue fox had disappeared.

He was just looking at the spaceship, but King Feiyun stood diagonally behind him, her peripheral vision filled with his profile.

His jawline was clean and sharp, and his Adam's apple rolled slightly.

She did not know why she had noticed this detail.

King Feiyun opened her eyes, her gaze landing on the opposite wall.

There was nothing on the wall, it was as smooth as a mirror, but she saw her own reflection upon it.

Her face was calm, her brows and eyes cold and detached. She looked no different from usual.

But King Feiyun knew that just a moment ago... for just that brief instant.

A thought had surfaced in the depths of her heart. Thinking back on it now, she found it absurd.

She felt that she seemed to... have fallen in love with Lin Yun.

King Feiyun's expression did not change at all. She simply sat there, quietly watching her own reflection on the wall.

Then she slowly closed her eyes and entered meditation again.

This time, it took her three times longer than usual to let her mind completely settle.

When she opened her eyes again, the moonlight outside the window had moved from the east to the west. The night was deep.

King Feiyun did not get up immediately. She continued to sit in place, reviewing all the anomalies of these past few days from beginning to end.

First was that night in the Void Realm. King Xuanyin had suddenly approached the wedding chamber, and she had followed, watching those scenes from up close.

Then the next day, Ziyi's expression had been a bit off.

This morning, when Lin Yun appeared, Ziyi's breathing had paused for half a beat. She had been the same.

Her fingers had curled, and her heart had beaten a little faster.

Usually, this level of anomaly would not attract her attention, but now she remembered every detail clearly.

King Feiyun's brows furrowed slightly.

She recalled King Xuanyin's abnormal behavior over those two days. Whispering in the corridor, taking the initiative to get close at the wedding banquet, and that resentful tone at the evening banquet.

"You said you would marry me during the day, but you are marrying someone else at night?"

Then, overnight, King Xuanyin had turned completely cold.

When saying goodbye today, King Xuanyin wouldn't even spare Lin Yun another glance. She had left in such a hurry, as if being chased by something from behind.

King Feiyun sat in the Cultivation room, piecing these fragments together one by one.

She vaguely felt that there was a connection between these events. She vaguely felt that the root of the problem lay with Lin Yun. But she could not say what the specific connection was.

She also could not find any evidence.

King Feiyun was silent for a long time, finally standing up and pushing open the door of the Cultivation room.

The corridor was empty, with moonlight leaking in from the window lattice at the end, spreading out into a silver-white strip on the floor.

She wanted to ask Ziyi if she had the same feelings these past few days. If she also repeatedly thought of the scenes from that night in the deep of the night. If her heart also tightened slightly at the thought of Lin Yun.

But King Feiyun only stood there for a moment, then withdrew her gaze.

Tomorrow. Tomorrow, she still had to attend Lin Yun and Ruozao's wedding.

She would observe first when the time came. To see if it was only the two of them who were like this, or if there was some other mystery.
