409: Chapter 409 Tools
The wind blew from the street corner, causing everyone's clothes to flutter gently.
Lin Yun stood in the center of the crowd, watching them laugh and play with a gentle gaze.
He didn't say anything unnecessary, but he knew in his heart that today's gains were far greater than he had expected.
On the way to take Ruozao home, Ruozao had her arm linked with Lu Shan the entire time.
The young girl kept her head down, her ears flushed a light pink, her pace half a beat slower than usual.
Lu Shan held her, whispering something in her ear from time to time, making Ruozao's face turn even redder.
The residence of King Beifeng was also located on the east side of Lingyuan City.
The canopies of the two old locust trees at the entrance swayed gently in the wind, casting a large area of shade.
King Beifeng was already waiting at the entrance.
The old man stood with his hands behind his back, his hair and beard completely white, his back straight as a board.
Seeing Ruozao turn the corner, the stern look on his face instantly collapsed by more than half.
"You're back?"
He stepped forward, his gaze lingering on Ruozao's face for a moment.
Ruozao's face was still flushed, her eyes moist and bright; she looked like a completely different person from yesterday.
King Beifeng calmly withdrew his gaze and looked at Lin Yun.
"Kid, come in and sit for a while."
Lin Yun did not decline.
The group walked into the King Beifeng residence and sat down in the living room.
The maid served hot tea and snacks, the curling tea fragrance dispelling the heat of the day.
King Beifeng sat in the main seat, holding a teacup, and began to discuss the details of the wedding the day after tomorrow with Lin Yun.
From the time of the wedding procession to the route of the sedan chair convoy, from the list of betrothal gifts to the arrangements for the banquet, everything was gone over in detail.
Lin Yun agreed to each one, his attitude respectful and serious.
Ruozao sat on a chair nearby, keeping her head down and drinking tea the whole time.
Her ears were pricked up straight, listening clearly to every word.
Lu Shan sat next to her, occasionally whispering in her ear, causing Ruozao to gently push her away.
After chatting for about an hour, King Beifeng finally put down his teacup.
"Alright, let's go with this." He patted his knees. "Come over again tomorrow to confirm the final details."
"Junior understands." Lin Yun stood up and bowed to King Beifeng. "Then I will take my leave now."
King Beifeng nodded and glanced again at Ruozao, who was huddled on her chair.
"Zaozao, see them off."
Ruozao stood up, lowered her head, and walked to Lin Yun's side, her footsteps light and soft.
She saw everyone out of the living room, through the courtyard, and all the way to the main gate.
The old locust tree at the entrance rustled in the evening breeze.
The setting sun dyed the horizon a soft orange-red, casting long shadows on the ground.
Ruozao stood inside the threshold, her hands folded in front of her, and looked up at Lin Yun.
The glance was short, but it carried an indescribable sense of peace.
"See you the day after tomorrow."
Lin Yun looked at her, his voice gentle.
Ruozao gave a soft "Mn," her ears turning red again.
She didn't say anything more.
She just stood at the entrance, watching as Lin Yun and the others gradually walked away.
Not until their figures were swallowed by the twilight did she turn and walk back into the residence.
On the way back to Lin Family Manor, the twilight in the sky deepened layer by layer.
Lin Yun walked at the very front, followed by a bustling crowd of beauties.
The evening breeze blew in, carrying the chill of dusk, stirring everyone's hair tips and skirt hems.
Qiao Feifei walked behind, arm-in-arm with Bai Ling, the two of them whispering and discussing something.
"Do you think Big Sister Ai Wei has already fallen in love with Husband?"
"Definitely, otherwise she wouldn't have been so shy this afternoon."
"Do you think she will secretly stay tomorrow? Stay in Lingyuan."
"It's possible, the way she looks at Husband is just like..."
As they talked, they began to giggle in low voices.
When they returned to Lin Family Manor, it was already getting dark.
The lanterns in the courtyard lit up one by one, their orange glow reflecting on the red silk, making the whole manor look warm and cozy.
After dinner, everyone finished washing up and returned to the master bedroom one after another.
Once the door closed, the liveliness of the day and the quiet of the night formed a strange contrast.
There were no partitions tonight, and no one was watching from behind a transparent wall.
Because tonight, everyone was the protagonist.
Fei Xue and Feiying were surrounded by their sisters, sitting on the edge of the bed.
On the second day of their new marriage, the shyness hadn't completely dissipated, but it was already much better than yesterday.
The other sisters found their own places to sit.
The whole room was filled with rustling sounds and low, laughing whispers.
Just as the atmosphere was gradually heating up...
Qiao Shiyu suddenly brought out two things from behind her back as if by magic.
A pair of fuzzy cat ears headband. A long, thin cat tail.
...Props.
Snow-white fur, pointed ear tips, and a small bell at the end of the tail.
The craftsmanship was ridiculously fine; the fur on the cat ears could even sway slightly with movement.
"Ta-da!"
Qiao Shiyu held the two things up with both hands, standing in front of the bed, her eyes shining like two stars.
"Bai Lulu and I specially ordered these this afternoon! Freshly made!"
Bai Lulu nodded like a pounding pestle next to her.
"Right! Pure bionic production! The fur on the ears was glued on one by one! It's so realistic!"
Everyone's gaze fell simultaneously on the two props, then shifted simultaneously to Fei Xue and Feiying, who were sitting on the edge of the bed.
Fei Xue's face turned red instantly.
"W-what are you all doing..."
"We're not doing anything."
Qiao Shiyu blinked her eyes, looking innocent.
"We just wanted to see what you two sisters would look like wearing cat ears."
"Yeah, yeah."
Bai Lulu chimed in from the side.
"When we saw Big Sister Ai Wei this afternoon, didn't we look at her cat ears all afternoon? So cute!"
"I just thought, if Big Sister Fei Xue and Big Sister Feiying wore them too, they would definitely be very cute!"
Feiying's reaction was much faster than Fei Xue's; she looked at the cat ears in Qiao Shiyu's hands, then looked at Lin Yun.
"Does Husband want to see?"
Lin Yun didn't expect her to ask so directly.
His gaze swept back and forth between her and the cat ears.
Then the corners of his mouth curved up, and he didn't deny it.
Feiying saw that smile.
"Alright." She reached out decisively. "Give them to me."
Qiao Shiyu cheered and handed over the cat ear headband.
Feiying took it, checked the position in the mirror, and then put it on neatly.
The snow-white cat ears shimmered with a soft, furry luster in the light.
Set against her slightly heroic-looking face.
There was surprisingly a strange sense of harmony.
She tilted her head, and the tips of the ears swayed slightly with the movement.
"How is it?"
She asked, her tone carrying a hint of mischievous pride.
The whole room was silent for half a second.
Then...
