129: Chapter 129 Beating
Lin Ning's face was cold and stern. He shut the car door casually and strode toward the van. His Psychic Power poured out immediately, almost enveloping the entire vehicle.
Four children, the oldest no more than six or seven years old and the youngest perhaps only two or three, were slumped over on the dirty seats and the tattered quilt laid out.
Their eyes were closed, their breathing weak and steady; it was not a normal sleep.
An abnormal flush suffused the face of one little boy.
In the driver's seat sat an ordinary-looking middle-aged man.
One hand rested on the open window, holding a cigarette, while the other was scrolling through short videos.
Lin Ning confirmed the suspicion he had in his heart.
He quickened his pace. His face was expressionless, but his pursed lips and tense jawline made his features look increasingly cold and hard, while dark, angry flames and ruthlessness flickered in his eyes.
Five meters, three meters, one meter.
In a few steps from the back of the van, he reached the driver's side and pulled the door open directly.
Zhang Gou, in the driver's seat, was stunned; Lin Ning's movements were too fast and too casual.
Without pausing, Lin Ning smoothly grabbed his hair and, with one forceful tug, pulled him down.
Just as Zhang Gou was about to shout and fight back, Lin Ning, holding him with his right hand, slammed a clenched left fist hard into his stomach. The intense pain choked him, and Zhang Gou curled up on the ground, gastric juices and saliva pouring out.
Lin Ning stepped on Zhang Gou, who was retching uncontrollably, leaned into the driver's cab, and yanked the car key out.
Then, squatting down, he grabbed Zhang Gou's hair to force his face up and said, "Get in the car."
Zhang Gou was a "cargo" driver, and now his brain caught up. Looking at Lin Ning's cold, condescending gaze, his first reaction was that the children's parents had tracked them down.
Police and passersby wouldn't be this ruthless, nor would their eyes be this terrifying.
Just as he was about to beg for mercy, Lin Ning cut him off directly, "If you want to save those two, I'll grant your wish. If I kill you and bury you on the grassland, I won't be at a loss; it'll just be following the old rules."
Zhang Gou's pupils trembled violently. "I'll cooperate, I'll cooperate, brother..."
Lin Ning didn't hold back his strength and gave him a heavy slap across the face. Want to talk to me like brothers, you animal?
Still not satisfied, he stood up straight and kicked him fiercely twice more.
Zhang Gou let out a scream, which was cut short when Lin Ning stepped on his face.
Enduring the intense pain, Zhang Gou scrambled up and climbed into the car.
This man's eyes and actions told him that he was a ruthless person, a genuine, hard-nosed Mongolian, not someone he could resist or bargain with.
Lin Ning scanned the surroundings. Fortunately, no one had noticed the short "conflict." Only one child, who had run to the open space behind the car chasing a ball, had seen it, but being young, he didn't understand and just hugged his ball, looking at Lin Ning with curiosity.
Lin Ning relaxed his facial muscles, showed a smile, and placed his index finger to his lips. "Shh!"
Then, he quickly walked around the front of the car, pulled open the back door, and sat inside.
Zhang Gou was groaning in pain in the driver's seat. Seeing Lin Ning sit in the back, he quickly said, "Brother, brother, I'll help you find the children, I'll transfer money to you..."
Lin Ning didn't want to hear a single word of his BS, so he stepped forward and punched him right in the side of the carotid artery.
Silence.
He moved to the back seat to check on the children; it was clear at a glance that they had been drugged.
Lin Ning reached out and touched the smallest boy, whose face was flushed red; he was burning up.
Damn it!
He pulled out his phone and dialed 120 directly, reporting the children's drug-induced coma and the location.
As for calling the police, Lin Ning wasn't in a hurry to do that right now.
According to the rules he grew up with, when you catch human traffickers, you beat them up first. If they died, you threw them out on the grassland, and the wolf packs and birds would take care of the remains.
Only if it were near a city would they be buried.
If they weren't beaten to death, you'd tie them behind a horse and drag them to find the government police. If they died, it was considered an escort accident; if they lived, it meant their sins hadn't been fully paid for.
That won't work now. Things are becoming "civilized," so he couldn't kill them, but he at least had to beat them up first.
Of all crimes, human traffickers are the most deserving of death. At least, that's how it was in Lin Ning's heart.
Others might have various reasons and extenuating circumstances, but human traffickers have only pure evil.
Through the dark-tinted car window, Lin Ning saw the man and woman come out of the restroom, walking back slowly, occasionally laughing and talking about something.
His eyes grew even darker.
Walking to the front of the car, the man slowed down and lit a cigarette, while the plump middle-aged woman pulled the car door open directly.
Before the woman's eyes could focus, Lin Ning kicked her square in the chest with all his might, and her body lifted off the ground and flew backward.
"Ah—!"
After landing, the fat woman, Zhao Huadi, let out a scream like a slaughtered pig.
The smoking man reacted quickly; before he even saw what was happening, he reached for his waist.
Just as he touched the hilt of a knife, Lin Ning, who had lunged out, delivered a fierce whip kick to his forearm.
"Crack!"
A crisp sound of bone breaking.
Lin Ning's Psychic Power instantly caught the falling knife. Without hesitation, he turned his body and twisted his waist, slamming a powerful elbow strike into his chest.
With a dull thud, the man fell backward onto the ground.
Lin Ning still didn't let him off, though he controlled his strength a bit, kicking him in the side of the neck with the tip of his foot.
In a series of attacks that happened in the blink of an eye, the man didn't even have time to scream before his eyes rolled back, and he passed out.
Zhao Huadi was also experienced; enduring the pain, she scrambled up and tried to run.
She hadn't expected the man to be taken down by Lin Ning so quickly, but she reacted extremely fast and ran toward the crowd that was already watching.
Running while screaming, "Robbery and murder..."
Lin Ning certainly couldn't let her go. In a few long strides, he caught up to her and delivered a flying kick, sending Zhao Huadi sprawling onto the ground, where she slid forward a few meters.
Lin Ning walked up and stepped on her back before he started to reach for his phone.
From the moment Zhao Huadi was kicked flying by Lin Ning from inside the car to the moment Lin Ning subdued both of them, the whole process took no more than ten seconds.
The originally lively corner of the rest area was as if its neck had been grabbed; it was quiet and tense.
When Zhao Huadi screamed about robbery and murder, a few burly men, who looked like long-haul truckers, pulled out "tools" and ran toward this side.
As for the rest of the people, some stood where they were to watch the excitement, but those with children hurriedly called their children back to their sides.
After Lin Ning kicked Zhao Huadi down and stepped on her right in front of them, the scene became even more chaotic.
Several more men ran toward this side, wanting to help.
Looking at the scene before him, a trace of a smile appeared on Lin Ning's fierce face. But he didn't dare to delay and quickly shouted—
"This van belongs to human traffickers! There are drugged children inside! Call the police quickly!!"
The beating was done, his heart felt relieved, but he still needed the police to come and clean up the mess.
Lin Ning's words were like cold water splashed into a hot wok of oil; the crowd exploded—
"What?! Human traffickers?!"
"Drugged children?!"
This time, even more people rushed out from the crowd, both men and women, charging toward this side.
The few burly men who had already arrived, hearing Lin Ning's words, widened their eyes and hesitantly put down the "tools" in their hands.
One of the men, wearing camouflage pants, ran a few quick steps to the van and peered into the cabin—several children were curled up in a tattered quilt.
"Damn it!" He turned his head and roared, "There are children! They are human traffickers!"
