3: Chapter 3: The Golden Finger Manual: Explore it step by step on your own

"Hello? Lin Zi? Are you mute? Moved by Daddy..." Comfort between men is mostly wrapped in teasing and jokes.

Lin Ning was speechless. Men often called each other Daddy, but in his situation: "My dad tricked me into guaranteeing a loan shark debt, then took all the money and ran off with a young girl..."

Yang Weifeng: "..."

Lin Ning: "So, at most, you can only serve as my foster father in the future."

The three legendary figures, who had even stopped playing Landlord to eavesdrop on the fun, went silent: "..."

Only then did Yang Weifeng understand the whole story.

He had ten thousand curses in his heart that he couldn't bring himself to say. He had just become a father himself and couldn't fathom how anyone could be such a parent, but since this was his brother's biological father, he couldn't truly curse him out. He wiped his face and said, "Alright, Lin Zi, hurry up, send me your card number!"

Lin Ning wasn't one to be coy, as he needed cash on hand: "Alright... Crazy, I'll keep this favor in mind. When your son is old enough to run errands, I'll be his godfather and give him a bigger red envelope than his dad!"

"Of course! Hey, how's your job going? If it's not working out, come over to my place. Although the company is small, I still have some pull there..."

"No need," Lin Ning interrupted, his tone carrying a lightness he hadn't even noticed, "I'm delivering for Meituan; it's free and the money comes fast. You take care of your kid first; things are... almost sorted out on my end."

After chatting for a few more minutes, he hung up the phone amidst Yang Weifeng's repeated insistence to "let me know if you need anything."

He caught a glimpse of a few winking "Sanhe gods" in his peripheral vision but paid them no mind.

The three of them quickly returned to playing cards and bragging. This was Juma Bridge, after all! What kind of melodramatic gossip or strange occurrences hadn't they seen? It was all just child's play!

After the call, Lin Ning's heart gradually calmed down. Even if the 500,000 report didn't pan out this time, he had at least found a direction.

He had connections, and he had his Golden Finger. A bright future was clearly within reach—time to get to work!

The next day, Lin Ning was woken up by earth-shattering snoring. Since moving here, he honestly didn't even need to set an alarm.

Lin Ning was in a pretty good mood today. As he brushed his teeth, he nodded at his reflection in the mirror with satisfaction. He might not be as handsome as A Zu, but he was at least on the level of A Ting. He was just a bit thin and needed to take better care of himself.

"Plop~ Plop..." The stench made Lin Ning dry-heave. He quickly wiped his face with water and retreated!

Honestly, with a design that put the bathroom and the squat toilet in the same small space, it would be hard for the landlord not to get rich.

Donning his yellow uniform and hopping on his e-bike, a new day began!

The green light turned on, and the crowd began to move. Lin Ning's gaze habitually scanned the crowd.

Green, green, still green... Hmm, that young lady has a yellow name? What does yellow represent?

Suddenly, a faint golden hue entered his field of vision!

An old man who had just finished his morning exercise walked slowly past, with a line of glittering golden text above his head.

"Gold, that looks really pleasing!" Lin Ning pondered. Red represented crime, green represented ordinary, no special status, but this gold... what did gold mean?

Lin Ning turned his handlebars and followed behind the old man.

After wandering around for a bit, the old man walked into a—lottery shop!

Lin Ning quickly parked his bike and followed him in, pretending to be just another passerby.

Thinking of the lottery shop, he recalled his first day after transmigrating, when he had spent a huge sum of one hundred to "donate to charity." He had wanted to see if any deity, seeing how kind and pitiful he was, would let him win at least a second prize or ten million or something.

And then, he had very kindly only "donated to charity." Bah!

Out of the corner of his eye, Lin Ning saw the old man casually buy a few scratch-offs and start scratching them right at the counter.

When he got to the fifth one, he let out an excited shout.

The shop owner leaned over to take a look: "Whoa! Old Liu, your luck is great! 'Red Double Happiness'! Thirty thousand!"

Holy crap, Lin Ning shouted in his heart.

Gold must represent wealth, good luck, or something similar.

Watching the old man happily redeem his prize, Lin Ning took advantage of the momentum and eagerly ran over to buy a few of the same scratch-offs.

"Rubbing off some of his luck, maybe I can win five hundred or a thousand!" he thought with a hint of anticipation.

A minute later, looking at the five losing tickets in his hand, Lin Ning's face fell.

If scratch-offs didn't work, what about the number-picking lottery?

Lin Ning thought about it and shook his head.

With so many lottery shops, how could he be lucky enough to just happen to be at the one where a big winner shows up? He'd probably end up waiting for a year or more without seeing even half a winner.

Forget it~ there's no way to find a profit point with this in the short term...

He got back on his e-bike and happened to receive a delivery order.

"Purchase a certain brand of health supplements?" Lin Ning looked at the product name and his mouth twitched, "Whoa~ little blue pills, huh~~ in broad daylight!"

The address was a high-end apartment.

Lin Ning rang the doorbell and waited for a long while before the door finally opened.

A tall, thin man wearing a bathrobe with puffy eye bags opened the door, cursing. Above his head was a line of text glowing like a yellow light bulb: [Li Xiaozong, Unemployed].

Li Xiaozong looked Lin Ning up and down, the contempt in his eyes practically overflowing.

"Why are you so slow? Dawdling!" The man immediately started berating him, his tone very aggressive.

Lin Ning handed over the packaged goods, "Mr. Li, here is what you ordered."

The man unwrapped it to take a look and started finding fault again, "Why is the packaging like this? Is it fake? Let me tell you, if it doesn't work, I'll complain until you're finished!"

At the same time, Lin Ning heard the coquettish giggles of several women coming from inside the room. He instantly understood the meaning of the yellow text—it really did mean "yellow"! He also understood why he needed to buy those "health supplements."

Lin Ning kept his expression neutral, though his tone cooled, "The product was purchased from a legitimate pharmacy and comes with a receipt. Please show me the delivery code."

Seeing Lin Ning's cold expression, the man chuckled instead. He took out his wallet, tossed a 10-yuan bill on the floor, and said, "That's your tip."

He then leaned against the door, looking at Lin Ning with a smirk.

He had run into a total idiot!

Lin Ning smiled back, bent down to pick up the money, and turned to leave.

Once outside the complex, he immediately pulled out his phone and dialed 110: "Hello, I'd like to report a crime. At Room XXX, Building X of XX Complex, there are people suspected of gathering for lewd activities..."

Lin Ning didn't take this idiot to heart at all. He had become immune to this kind of childish humiliation and superiority complex back in his childhood in his previous life.

Besides, he was getting his revenge right now, wasn't he?

Even if there was no reward money, ridding the people of a scourge made him feel great! Merit +1.

...

The delivery job was actually quite interesting; getting paid for every order gave him a sense of accomplishment.

Lin Ning was working away, multitasking and enjoying it, when he received a call from his lawyer.

"Lin Ning, the debt issues you entrusted to me have been mostly negotiated with the various platforms. Come by tomorrow so we can discuss the details."

Lin Ning set a time.

He happened to have some other things to consult about as well.

Ding-dong! A notification sound from his phone.

Lin Ning glanced at it and tapped it open.

It was a message from an unknown number.

The text message was extremely brief:

[Notification from the XX District Sub-bureau: Whistleblower Lin Ning, please bring your ID and report to the XX Sub-bureau tomorrow at 9:00 AM to cooperate with the relevant officer, Li Xiao, in filing the report, providing a statement, and processing the relevant reward procedures.]

Lin Ning: "??!!"
