168: Chapter 168 Extra Rewards

Lin Ning originally wanted to chat with this guy about why he didn't look like a police officer, but hearing him threaten his family, a disdainful arc curled at the corner of his mouth. His gaze turned cold as he increased his strength slightly. With a soft "crack," Huang Chenggen's joints were twisted to their limit.

Huang Chenggen instantly twitched in pain, his threats coming to a screeching halt, leaving only wails.

Just then, Officer Li Feng rushed out with two other officers, his face grim.

"Huang Chenggen! You dare try to run!"

The two officers rushed forward and took over, handcuffing him behind his back and dragging him toward the station.

The "Old Gun" who had been so arrogant and threatening just moments ago instantly withered upon seeing the real police. He muttered under his breath, not daring to utter another word of threat.

Officer Li Feng let out a long sigh of relief, still shaken, and slapped Lin Ning on the shoulder twice.

"Holy crap! Brother! Thanks, thanks!"

He panted, "This guy somehow managed to unlock his handcuffs himself. If he had really escaped, all our station's achievements this year would have been for nothing, and we'd have become the laughingstock of the entire bureau!"

In those two or three minutes, Officer Li Feng had broken into a sweat, both from urgency and fear.

Lin Ning patted the dust off his hands and asked curiously, "What's this guy's background? Looking at his features, his crimes must not be small, right? To slip out of a Police Station so calmly, he's quite the character."

Officer Li Feng spat in disgust. "Character my ass. He's just a Yanjing Old Gun who's been a hoodlum since childhood—reckless and incredibly thick-skinned. Petty theft, brawling, extortion, fraud—he hasn't done an honest thing in his life. Going to jail is like going home to him; his skin is thicker than a city wall. Before, it was just constant minor offenses, but this time the amount involved is quite large, so he got bold. I didn't expect him to actually dare to unlock his cuffs and escape inside the Police Station."

The more Officer Li Feng spoke, the angrier he got, his back teeth grinding audibly. "You little Grandson, you think I can't handle you without hitting you? Just you wait!"

Lin Ning knew Officer Li Feng was in a hurry to handle things and report in. "Alright, go get busy. I'm leaving."

Officer Li Feng quickly said, "Thanks, Lin Zi. Once we're done with this rush, I'll have Director Zhang treat you to a meal."

Lin Ning got on his electric scooter, waved to him, and left with flair.

He sped all the way, heading straight for Ning Qiao Investment Company.

Inside the minimalist-style office of Ning Qiao Investment Consulting, there were only two people.

Wang Qiao was wearing headphones, scratching his head in frustration at the computer screen, looking as pained as if he were being tortured.

Jiang Yu sat at another desk, quietly flipping through a book, with a notebook spread out beside her, covered in dense writing.

Lin Ning pushed the door open, carrying a large bag of snacks and drinks, and tossed it onto the table.

There was a loud "thud."

Wang Qiao quickly took off his headphones and let out a long sigh of relief.

Lin Ning said amusedly, "If you don't like studying, then don't. Just buy whatever Brother Tao tells you to. In the future, if we're going to invest in an enterprise, I'll check the person out and do a little investigation first, then we can just invest. We won't participate in the management anyway."

Wang Qiao frowned at him with an expression that said, "Why is an ignorant waste like you trying to give me advice?"

But he opened his mouth and then closed it again—he had explained to Lin Ning before why professional knowledge was necessary, but it went in one ear and out the other. It was useless to talk to him.

Wang Qiao changed his angle: "Didn't you say you were going to work hard to raise funds? Why are you here during work hours?"

He paused, his gaze becoming wary. "You're not trying to kidnap Jiang Yu again, are you?"

Lin Ning rolled his eyes. "One of you is in class and the other is studying; neither of you is working. What's wrong with me taking her away? That's my girlfriend!"

He pulled out his phone and shoved it in front of Wang Qiao's face. "Take a good look! I'll give you one more chance to rethink your attitude toward me!"

Wang Qiao took one look, and his eyes went wide. "This... what is this?"

"An Enforcement Reward Notice," Lin Ning said, his head held high. "A 150 million yuan enforcement target, with a ten percent reward. I just settled it."

The next second, Wang Qiao jumped up, his voice cracking. "150 million? Ten percent? Isn't that... 15 million?!"

He hurriedly grabbed the phone on the desk and tapped away frantically: 150,000,000 × 0.1 = 15,000,000.

After calculating it once, he didn't believe it. He did it again. It was still 15 million.

After the third time, Wang Qiao stared at the numbers on the screen, his eyes wider than walnuts.

"Calculated it? When we put this into the company for angel investing, will you still dare to say I do nothing all day?!" Lin Ning raised an eyebrow.

Wang Qiao looked up abruptly, his gaze toward Lin Ning incredibly flattering. "Godfather, are you going to invest all of it for a capital increase?"

Lin Ning was satisfied and laughed loudly. "When has your father ever lied to you?"

"Then when will it arrive?" Wang Qiao grabbed Lin Ning's arm.

Lin Ning pushed him away in disgust. "What's the rush? The court has to check assets, freeze them, auction them, and go through the process. How could it be that fast?"

Wang Qiao's face instantly fell, and he disgustedly wiped his hands on his pants. "Then why are you acting like a Godfather? Son, let me teach you a lesson: only what can be cashed in immediately counts for bragging!"

"Get lost!"

The two glared at each other.

While locking eyes with Wang Qiao, Lin Ning called out to Jiang Yu.

"Pack your things, let's go out and play."

"We still have to watch the market this afternoon!" Wang Qiao said, refusing to back down.

In their gazes, invisible swords and shadows clashed in a fierce battle.

Jiang Yu watched from the side with great interest. While she seemingly didn't get involved, her hands were already starting to pack her bag.

The phone rang.

Lin Ning saw it was a call from Chen Zhi and snorted, calling a truce.

"Come to the Small Building when you have time."

Just as Lin Ning was about to ask what it was about, Chen Zhi continued, "The reward for the case before you went back to your hometown has been settled. There's also something I need to tell you."

Lin Ning felt a bit conflicted for a moment.

Jiang Yu saw his expression and guessed he might have something to do. She said brightly, "Go ahead, go ahead. Call me when you're back early, and if it's late, we'll go play tomorrow."

Lin Ning wasn't in a hurry to collect the reward since it wasn't going anywhere, but when Chen Zhi said there was "something," he didn't dare delay.

"Alright then." Lin Ning nodded somewhat reluctantly.

Ignoring the gloating Wang Qiao, he pulled Jiang Yu's head in and gave her a loud "mua" kiss, then shouted as he ran out, "Die of envy, you single dog!!"

Wang Qiao: "I %¥&*¥..."

Chen Zhi's office.

He sat at the desk, looking at several documents laid out before him. Seeing Lin Ning enter, he pushed a signature sheet over. "Take a look. If there are no problems, sign it."

Lin Ning scanned it.

Special Consultant Fee: 100,000 yuan; Major Lead Reporting Reward: 500,000 yuan; total: 600,000 yuan.

He neatly signed his name.

Then he looked up at Chen Zhi, waiting for him to speak.

Chen Zhi looked at him with a hint of a smile. "You aren't part of the military or police system, so we can't apply for medals or honors for you. After the organization's deliberation, it was decided to give you a more practical reward."

Lin Ning raised an eyebrow. "An extra reward?"
