84: Chapter 84 Zhu Qi
Zhu Qi had arrived at the Fighting Gym two months earlier than Lin Ning and was still at a beginner stage, following the standard instruction from his own coach, so he did not require any special attention from Coach Chen Hu.
Come to think of it, only a freak like Lin Ning needed Coach Chen Hu to personally take charge while still at the beginner stage.
Furthermore, Zhu Qi was exceptionally reclusive; aside from his own coach, he didn't seem to have spoken a word to anyone else.
After remembering who he was, Coach Chen Hu took a moment to recall, then replied, "I remember he's a college student, right? A senior with not many classes."
"???" Lin Ning was genuinely surprised. "A college student?"
He would have believed it if he were a graduate student, given his somewhat decadent and weary aura.
"Which school? Doesn't he need to do an internship?"
"Seems like that Industrial University nearby. Who knows if he's interning or not. Alright, no time to chat with you, get lost if you have nothing to do."
After leaving the Fighting Gym, Lin Ning checked his phone and discovered several missed calls and unread WeChat messages from Wang Qiao.
"Beep..." The call was answered instantly. "I thought you'd gone missing! Get over here right now."
Lin Ning replied lazily, "What for?"
"There are a ton of documents for you to sign, big brother."
Upon meeting, they first signed a pile of documents: equity changes, lease agreements, articles of association, financial papers, and so on.
Facing Wang Qiao's sour expression, Lin Ning felt a bit sheepish. Damn it, he'd forgotten that Wang Qiao was currently working like a beast of burden for him, and he hadn't been able to help himself from acting like a jerk last night.
He tossed the used pen onto the table and calmly changed the subject. "I redid my statement with Brother Tao at the Municipal Bureau this morning. Did you know? That Manager Huang has already been scammed out of 200 million, which was transferred abroad."
Wang Qiao's eyes widened immediately. "Huh? Wasn't the fundraising not finished yet?"
"They said it was a deposit transferred to secure this project. Brother Tao said..." Lin Ning lowered his voice and shared the details with Wang Qiao, who had leaned in close. "I helped recall the suspicious people from that day again. Do you remember that Gao Hongying..."
"Damn! For real...?"
"Yeah, Brother Tao also said her behavior was suspicious... And then there's that person..."
After gossiping, the two sat back in their original seats, feeling satisfied.
Wait? Lin Ning vaguely remembered signing a confidentiality agreement this morning. Never mind, Wang Qiao was in on it too.
Wang Qiao sighed with emotion. "See how dangerous financial investments are? Even an old hand like him can fall for it. That's why you shouldn't believe in pie falling from the sky. For good projects like this with guaranteed returns, you can't even get a foot in the door without connections. How could a stranger suddenly appear to help you out?"
Lin Ning didn't care. He wouldn't get scammed anyway; his Golden Finger would intervene.
"Are you done with your tour guide gigs?"
"There's one more booked for next week, and then that's it. I've already removed my name from the website."
"Why remove it? You know how it is here. Once you invest the money, you don't have to worry about anything. It's all free time; it wouldn't stop you from taking jobs."
"Now that I'm a boss, who would still want to be a beast of burden? Do you know the pain of serving those people? They all look like successful individuals, but in private, they are super weird and demanding." Wang Qiao waved his hand. "Besides, we're starting off mixing in the stock and crypto circles, but we still need to develop some connections. If you don't have resources in hand, no one will pay attention to you when you want to invest in their companies later."
After saying this, he felt something was off and squinted at Lin Ning.
Lin Ning's heart tightened. He secretly reminded himself never to let Wang Qiao know that he thought of him as a beast of burden.
Seeing Wang Qiao's gaze, he quickly squeezed out a smile, picked up the signed documents on the table, and flipped through them while praising, "It really has to be you. This efficiency is incredible. If it were me, I might not even be able to figure this stuff out in a month."
He gave a thumbs up, "You're the best!"
A smile bloomed on Wang Qiao's face, and he said smugly, "I'll contact Brother Tao in the next couple of days. I'll find a couple of stocks to invest the money in the account first; it'll at least beat bank interest. If I counted on you, I'd starve to death!"
Lin Ning: "..." You really get carried away when someone praises you.
"By the way, when are you going to use that 500,000 you asked me to set aside?"
Lin Ning waved his hand, "No need to set it aside. Just look at it and invest it together."
With everything finished, Lin Ning and Wang Qiao lay half-reclined on the sofa, enjoying the afternoon sun.
Before long, both turned to look at each other simultaneously. Their eyes met, and with tacit understanding, they picked up their phones.
After two rounds, Lin Ning was almost cursed to death by Wang Qiao.
Lin Ning defended himself frantically, "I've been busy lately, so I'm rusty. Have you forgotten who carried you back in the dorms?"
"Pfft!" Wang Qiao was so angry his face turned red. "Sprinkling rice on a phone screen would have better movement than you! I'm adding mana, and you're bleeding out. I tell you to dodge, and you go feed the enemy kills! We're attacking the crystal, and you're just crouching in the grass eating grass! Do you call this rusty?!"
Lin Ning felt incredibly wronged. Was this the aftereffect of blowing up too many "fish ponds," or was it karma? It was all the fault of Jin Er and those three other noobs!
Seeing Wang Qiao's eyes bloodshot, looking like he was about to bite him to death, he quickly diverted his attention. "What's so fun about this crappy game? Let me lead you in playing a real-life detective game. Let me tell you, there's a guy at the Fighting Gym I'm at who definitely has problems. I'm about to investigate him. Come on, come with me."
Wang Qiao pricked up his ears but didn't move.
Lin Ning sneered internally, I can't handle you? He pulled his laptop out of his backpack and opened it. While booting it up, he said, "This kid is named Zhu Qi, a senior at the Industrial University. Let's first search open-source platforms like their school's campus wall, forums, and post bars to see if there are any rumors about him."
As he spoke, he searched for which campus walls the Industrial University had. "I'll check the campus walls, you go check the school forum and post bars."
He didn't look at Wang Qiao throughout, just went about his business.
Over there, Wang Qiao also grabbed his own computer and started working. Lin Ning's peripheral vision caught this, and the corners of his mouth curled up.
First, he entered "Zhu Qi," "Senior," and other information to search a wave. If that didn't work, he'd check the gossip and call-out posts one by one. He was worried they might use nicknames, which would make the volume of posts to read huge.
With a click of the Enter key, Lin Ning's eyebrows shot up. There really was something!
Among six or seven posts, Zhu Qi's name appeared. One post titled [Digging into the promiscuous partners of my girlfriend who works as a delivery driver to support her university studies] had the most replies.
Lin Ning scanned it quickly, feeling excited. Over there, Wang Qiao also let out an "Oh ho."
"You have to see this!" Wang Qiao pointed at the screen for Lin Ning to look.
Lin Ning leaned over to take a look. The title was the same. This guy posting must have posted it on every platform related to the Industrial University.
"Mine is the same as yours. Let's see what the deal is first, then we'll discuss it later."
