33: Chapter 33 The Eye of the Seeker, You Son!

Jin Er and his two companions arrived soon.

Lin Ning waited for them at the intersection in advance. Instead of letting them enter the Police Station, he took them directly into a street-side KFC, where Officer Li Feng was waiting for them in plain clothes.

In a corner of the empty lobby, Officer Li Feng discussed their plan with Jin Er and his two companions, such as how to notify the police if they were taken to a different address to pick up the goods after arriving at the transaction site.

Lin Ning took off his sports bracelet recorder and handed it to Jin Er.

Officer Li Feng said in conclusion, "Don't worry, we aren't actually arresting you; just cooperate when the time comes..."

Before he could finish, the trio of old hands understood why the police were going through so much trouble to stage this.

Jin Er quickly smiled and said, "Understood! Understood! Oh my, this is really a hassle for you! You truly are a good police officer for the people, always concerned..."

Xu San and Zhang Shitou also wore smiles, warmly thanking Officer Li Feng.

Lin Ning curled his lip, watching the three of them smiling with such sycophantic expressions.

When he brought his old buddies along to make a fortune, he never heard any nice words praising him!

Officer Li Feng left first.

"Tsk!" Lin Ning finally found the opportunity to mock them. "You guys are quite good at buttering people up! It's a waste of talent that you three didn't join the establishment!"

Jin Er and Xu San didn't even lift their eyelids, continuing to eat their breakfast in large mouthfuls.

Zhang Shitou slowly gnawed on his burger and mocked back, "You don't understand the ways of the world. Even if it's demonstrated for you, you still wouldn't see it. Tsk!"

Lin Ning: "..."

Just as Lin Ning expected, they changed addresses two more times in succession.

Jin Er and his companions acted perfectly, displaying impatience and even a tendency to walk away, before the transaction location was finally confirmed.

The three of them took a taxi directly, while Lin Ning went along with Officer Li Feng and his team.

Inside the car, Officer Li Feng checked the equipment while saying to Lin Ning, "We've already arranged people over there, but we won't get out of the car yet."

"We'll probably be led on a wild goose chase. We'll rush in only when Jin Er and the others actually make the trade. You shouldn't go in; just stay outside as a bystander."

Officer Li Feng looked at Lin Ning and laughed, "Watching the show up close—don't faint from excitement!"

Lin Ning rolled his eyes. *I've already watched the show from the front row, you blockhead!*

Besides, my threshold is already quite high. Spies, murderers—I, Old Lin, have probably handled more of those than you have!

Lin Ning kept grumbling to himself.

At 10:00 sharp, Jin Er and the others entered a warehouse.

Several cars from Lin Ning's side dispersed; some continued to drive slowly around the warehouse, while others parked nearby on the street.

Lin Ning couldn't see the deployed personnel, but the ordinary street scene made his heart race.

The audio recording function of the bracelet was on, but the receiver was in the command vehicle where Director Zhang was located.

Officer Li Feng and the various units could only receive information sent from the command vehicle.

After waiting for a long time without any movement, they saw from a distance that Jin Er and the others had come out of the warehouse, followed by two people, and they all got into a minivan by the roadside.

As expected, they were changing locations.

The command center then sent a message: "All units, attention. Maintain concealment. Group A1, follow first; other groups, follow at varying distances!"

"Received!" "Received!" ... A series of responses followed.

Lin Ning's blood suddenly started pumping. This was an immersive police-and-thief scene!

It wasn't him lurking on the fringes in the dead of night; it was the experience of being one of the participants.

Lin Ning clenched his fists. As if afraid of being discovered, he involuntarily slowed his breathing, while his muscles began to tense up.

Yiyuan Road was an area long designated for demolition, but it had been shelved due to the downturn in the real estate market in recent years.

Some of the bungalows left behind by relocated residents had been converted into warehouses, mixed in with the residents who had held out until the end and failed to move.

The personnel situation was complex.

Officer Li Feng explained the situation to Lin Ning, who felt that he had learned something new. This was rare experience!

Officer Li Feng parked the car directly behind the side of the warehouse. Chaotic parking was the norm here, so they blended in perfectly.

One minute. Five minutes. Ten minutes. The walkie-talkie remained silent.

The slow passage of time caused Lin Ning's nails to gradually dig into his palms, amidst the sound of his amplified heartbeat and the static crackle of the radio.

He stared intently at the warehouse window that had been nailed shut with wooden slats.

Suddenly, Director Zhang's hushed command came through the earpiece: "All units, move in!"

Almost simultaneously, several figures shot out from different corners like arrows, rushing straight toward the warehouse side door.

Officer Li Feng pushed open the car door and sprang out like a cheetah, blending into the crowd of figures.

Lin Ning's blood surged to his head with a "boom." He also slammed the car door open, ran behind a broken wall not far from the warehouse's main entrance, and craned his neck.

"Police! Don't move!" "Hands on your heads! Squat down!"

Inside came short, sharp shouts, the muffled thuds of bodies colliding, the clatter of debris being knocked over, and a few panicked curses.

The sounds struck Lin Ning's chest like muffled thunder.

He imagined Officer Li Feng and his team subduing the suspects, and what kind of "panicked" public appearance Jin Er and his companions were putting on at this moment.

At this moment, Lin Ning only wished his Golden Finger was "X-ray Vision" so he could see the scene for himself instead of imagining it out of thin air.

...The time was actually very short, but to Lin Ning, it felt like a century had passed.

The iron door was pulled open, and Officer Li Feng and his colleagues emerged first. In pairs, they escorted five dejected-looking men.

Jin Er, Xu San, and Zhang Shitou followed at the end, each "escorted" by a police officer. The three of them hunched their necks, looking timid and dejected, with expressions of pure "misfortune."

"Ha!" Lin Ning almost laughed out loud. *Well, my three old brothers, the Oscars owe you a Best Actor award!*

His gaze turned to the five suspects in front. The red halos above their heads—especially the newly appeared [●] before their names, which looked like droplets of congealed blood—were radiating an alluring attraction.

A thought kept scratching at Lin Ning's heart—*This guy is a "Red Name"! So there's absolutely no need to feel guilty about looking into his past!*

Don't you want to see what your newly acquired ability is like? Especially that event that determines a character's status? Don't you want to? Don't you want to? Don't you want to...

No! I do!

Lin Ning's gaze locked onto the head of the "reddest" burly man: ●[Liu Daxiao, Electric Welder]

Holding his breath, amidst the noisy background, he focused all his mental energy on that red dot. Stare. Touch. Activate!

"Wum——!!!" It wasn't a specific sound, but a sensation of weightlessness, as if his entire soul had been thrown from a great height into an abyss. It was the sharp pain and void of having his brain instantly drained.

The scene before him vanished, replaced by fragments of high-speed flashbacks, color distortion, and warped sounds:

— Zhao Dayong on a street corner in the dead of night, using a cutter to slice open the lock cylinder of an electric scooter, sparks flying everywhere (pale red)...

— He brandishing a wrench at a vehicle owner who caught him stealing, his face twisted in a snarl (deepening red)...

— In a dim warehouse, pointing at several vehicles that had clearly been illegally modified for incredible speeds, bragging to a few young punks (solidified red)...

A torrent of information violently washed over his consciousness. It wasn't reading; it was being force-fed! It wasn't watching; it was being dragged in!

A short, sharp gasp escaped his throat, as if the last vestige of his life force had been drained away. His vision rapidly narrowed and darkened...

Lin Ning's final thought—*Eye of Insight, damn you!*

"Thud!" His forehead struck the cold, broken wall, and he lost consciousness...
