137: Chapter 137 Fighting and Brawl

Lin Ning walked out of the residential area; the entrance was empty, with not a sign of Wang Hao to be found.

He knew it.

He was just about to turn back, but considering today was a big day for his family, he thought about it and pulled out his phone.

At that moment.

Three punks with red names wobbled over. One of them, a blonde guy carrying something, lunged toward him.

Lin Ning was so speechless he actually laughed.

Was Wang Hao really trying to find someone to stage an accident and extort money from him?

Lin Ning sidestepped and continued walking forward, causing the blonde punk to nearly fall flat on his face.

A short guy grabbed him. The three of them were a bit stunned—it was as if Lin Ning knew exactly what they were going to do.

The little blonde punk didn't have time to think. He smashed the beer bottle in his hand onto the ground with a crisp 'crack' and turned to grab Lin Ning by the collar.

Lin Ning took two steps, heard the commotion behind him, and stopped.

He 'saw' their movements.

Seeing Lin Ning suddenly turn around, the blonde punk and his crew were dazed again. Why did this feel so awkward? This kid was full of surprises.

Lin Ning looked at the three stunned thugs, feeling both disgusted and amused. He was certain these were the people Wang Hao had found; otherwise, they wouldn't be this stupid.

The little blonde punk shook off the feeling, gritted his teeth, and reached out to push Lin Ning.

They had heard from Wang Hao that Lin Ning had a terrible temper. As long as he fought back, today's plan would succeed.

Lin Ning took a step back.

Then he swung his arm, generating power from his waist in a broad, sweeping motion—what the hell!

Slap!!!

A crisp yet heavy sound rang out.

The blonde punk's head snapped to the side, his eyes rolled back, and after his body stiffened for a split second, he hit the ground with a 'thud,' falling into a deep sleep on the spot.

“...” The duo who had been shouting curses as backup.

Their charging forms hitched for a moment.

Lin Ning took the initiative to meet them, stepping to the left to face the person on that side.

He swung his left hand in a wide arc—Slap!

The short, chubby kid went to sleep.

Without pausing, Lin Ning lowered his center of gravity and delivered a side kick to the last person's shin.

Taking advantage of his unstable balance—Slap!

The last one went to sleep as well.

It all happened in a few seconds.

Lin Ning turned his head and looked straight toward the corner of the wall.

Wang Hao was shrinking back there, his legs turned to jelly.

He wanted to run, but his body wouldn't listen. In his memory, Lin Ning was at most just a bit bold when it came to fighting. When did he become so... so powerful?

Just as Lin Ning took a step, the wailing of police sirens suddenly sounded.

His footsteps paused. Someone called the police?

He remembered what Hao Hong had said: the police response time had become faster.

Two police cars with flashing lights pulled over to the curb. Four officers rushed out and were a bit stunned to see three people lying neatly on the ground.

What was the situation here?

The lead middle-aged officer, Officer Wu Gao, kept his hand on his waist as he warily looked at the 'corpses' on the ground and then at Lin Ning standing a few steps away.

“We received a report of a fight and brawling...”

He stopped halfway through his sentence.

The person before him had one hand in his pocket and stood in a relaxed posture, with absolutely no signs of having been in a fight.

Did the perpetrator run away? Was this a bystander?

Lin Ning looked at the four officers in front of him—a mix of two red names and two green names—and fell silent.

He vaguely felt something was wrong. Had it even been a minute since those guys started looking for trouble?

This wasn't a fast response; this was way too damn fast!

Wang Hao rushed out from the corner as if catching a life-saving straw, pointing at Lin Ning and shouting, “It's him! He's the one fighting and brawling!”

Lin Ning smiled, but his eyes were icy.

Without a second's delay, Lin Ning walked straight toward the police car, saying as he went, “I have a recorder on me. Those three attacked me, and I acted in self-defense. Let's talk at the station.”

After speaking, he opened the car door and sat inside.

The movement was as natural as if it were his own car.

Everyone present was stunned; no one expected Lin Ning to act this way.

And he had a recorder???

Officer Wu Gao's brow furrowed even tighter. Having been a policeman for many years, his intuition told him that today's 'matter' was going to be troublesome.

Usually, an ordinary person wouldn't react so quickly to such an unexpected situation, avoiding all circumstances unfavorable to them. And looking at his demeanor...

Thinking of what Captain He had instructed, he cursed inwardly.

“Officer Wu, these three are unconscious. We can't wake them up,” a young officer's voice sounded.

Officer Wu Gao snapped back to his senses, his eyes darting around.

“Call an ambulance,” he instructed the young officer. “You and Xiao Liu stay behind to handle the handover.”

“Lao Zhang, let's take the ‘suspect’ back first.”

He and Lao Zhang exchanged a glance, both their eyes filled with a bit of gravity.

After all, it wasn't like the old days when someone could be thrown into a detention center for a year just for eating dumplings without dipping them in soy sauce.

There were numerous regulations and procedures now. If it were an ordinary person, they could mold them as they pleased, but this kid...

One raised an eyebrow, the other gave an almost imperceptible shake of the head; the two failed to reach an agreement.

Lao Zhang drove.

Officer Wu Gao had just sat in the back seat and hadn't had a chance to speak yet.

Lin Ning spoke up: “My recorder uses real-time cloud transmission. It should have captured both of your faces just now. I'll have my girlfriend delete it later.”

Lin Ning always believed in playing his cards early; he didn't want to play those frustrating scenes where one holds back only to show off at the very end. Reality wasn't a novel; things could easily go wrong.

If the atmosphere was built up to the point of a complete fallout, it would just force the other party to fight him to the death.

Hearing this, Officer Wu Gao immediately shut his mouth.

Lin Ning's mind was racing.

He thought Wang Hao had found people to beat him up during his family's banquet to make him lose face.

But as soon as the words 'fighting and brawling' came out, combined with Wang Hao's look of having found a powerful backer, he knew the truth was much more malicious than he had guessed.

But he couldn't let them handcuff him and haul him into a police car at the entrance of the residential area, nor could he be stupid enough to resist arrest. This was the only way to break the deadlock.

The fire of anger in Lin Ning's heart burned hotter and hotter, but he forced himself to calm down.

Getting angry? Getting angry was just a waste of time; what was needed now was to solve the problem.

There were still formal hurdles to clear ahead.

What other cards did he have?

Lin Ning lowered his eyelids, concealing the dark light in his eyes.

At this moment, he was incredibly grateful to Chen Zhi.

The Hulin Residential Compound wasn't far from the Public Security Bureau; it was only a three or four-minute drive.

After parking, Lin Ning was the first to get out, striding toward the office building.

Officer Wu Gao and Lao Zhang trailed a distance behind him, exchanging conflicting views on whether to use some tactics first or tell Captain He to give up.

People were coming and going in the lobby.

Lin Ning passed by the bulletin board; he didn't stop, but his eyes scanned the photo wall like a scanner.

Director Baiyin Namula, Deputy Director Zhao Kuanmin, Deputy Director...

There was actually a General Captain here in charge of three brigades. What kind of setup was this?

His gaze fixed on a certain spot in the lobby for a split second.

A middle-aged man in plain clothes, with a lean build and sharp eyes, had a deep red name above his head.

He Changcheng, the holder of the never-before-heard 'General Captain' title.

Lin Ning withdrew his gaze, his expression normal.

The next second, Wang Hao came stumbling in.

He jogged straight toward He Changcheng, even veering in an arc to stay away from Lin Ning as he passed him.

“Captain He! Captain He! It's him!” Wang Hao pointed his finger toward Lin Ning, his voice so shrill it could pierce glass. “Fighting and brawling! He beat people so badly they're in the hospital!”
