125: Druid

Chapter 124 The Druid

Arthur did not choose to leave with the Beastkin.

It was clearly not wise to leave the town with them without discerning whether these three individuals were good or evil.

The other party did not force him, only advised Arthur to consider it more carefully.

Whenever he changed his mind, he could go to Oak Lake to find them.

"Sir, what did they tell you?"

Flora placed the bottle of wine in front of Arthur and asked.

Arthur picked up the wine bottle and examined it for a moment.

"Amber Wine," Flora explained from the side, "It's a small gift they left."

Arthur put the wine bottle back on the table and then said, "At least two things have been clarified.

"The Sheriff's death, in all likelihood, has nothing to do with the Night Mist.

"I don't believe they have the guts to kill someone and then swagger around here.

"The other thing is that after the Sheriff's death, Mist Town has already split into three factions.

"If we don't want the entire Mist Town to completely fall apart, finding the mastermind behind the Sheriff's murder is the most crucial task right now."

Old Joe and Flora listened intently to their Lord's analysis.

Arthur continued, "Fortunately, the people under the Sheriff chose to follow me.

"But I'm sure that as soon as tomorrow's trial is over, these people will leave.

"They are merely choosing to follow temporarily due to pressure from their leader."

Flora asked, "Then should I contact the Pioneer Group?

"Have them come over, that way, you'll have a reliable team."

"If anyone should go, it should be me," Arthur replied, "This land will not easily let go of anyone who steps into it.

"The bodies we found when we arrived are the best proof.

"Moreover, the most urgent matter right now is to figure out how to deal with the upcoming undead attacks."

Drax, who had been silent, spoke up at this point, "I don't like those guys, they're smelly and annoying."

"Believe me, no one likes them," Arthur said with a wry smile, "But I judge that those living people transformed into undead creatures by the Night Mist are very likely the undead attacking Mist Town."

Old Joe nodded, indicating agreement: "The information we've gathered is roughly the same.

"Local residents say that when those undead creatures attack, they are often accompanied by deadly mist.

"Initially, they were completely unprepared, resulting in heavy casualties.

"However, with the help of the Long Night Alliance and the clever Mordor, a magic array to defend against the mist was quickly built.

"But that's not the case, as we all know.

"After the Sheriff's death, the Long Night Alliance had disagreements internally, and its members eventually went their separate ways."

Arthur sighed, "In other words, we've lost a powerful ally.

The situation here is worse than I expected.

"Have you gone to find that person named Mordor?"

"Yes, Sir," Old Joe replied, "In my opinion, he's a complete idiot."

"Oh? Is that so?" Flora raised an eyebrow and retorted.

Old Joe reluctantly corrected himself: "Alright, I admit he does have a bit of alchemy talent.

"But those are just small tricks; if I had enough raw materials and equipment, I could make things ten times better than him."

"At least he can still be a helper, can't he?" Arthur said.

Old Joe nodded: "Indeed, from the current situation, he can be considered a decent assistant."

Arthur then said, "Those Beastkin want me to meet their leader; they have a camp at Oak Lake."

"They couldn't possibly truly think you'd go with them, could they?"

Old Joe couldn't help but laugh.

Before he finished speaking, the tavern door was pushed open.

The Lovich siblings entered with a white-bearded, dark-skinned man.

Behind them followed Louis and Ruby.

Old Joe and Flora voluntarily gave up their seats.

"I am Brussian, I heard you were looking for me, Baron," the man introduced himself after sitting down.

"Yes, I should say, I want to ask you to translate that ancient book."

Brussian pointed at the bottle of Amber Wine with his finger and asked, "Sir, may I have a drink?"

Arthur nodded.

This hermit of the forest picked up the wine and took a big gulp, then said, "I can translate the text on it, but it will take some time.

"I suppose what you lack most right now is time, isn't it?"

"Exactly, I want to find out the origin of that power beneath the church.

"There should be clues in that ancient book."

"I understand," Brussian nodded, "But as an exiled person, appearing in town is too conspicuous.

"My identity will also bring you a lot of trouble.

"And what you least need right now is leverage that Joshua can use."

"Then do you have any good ideas?" Arthur asked.

"If you don't mind, I can study this book in my cabin in the forest.

"Of course, if you're not at ease, you can also send someone with me; my cabin can still fit one or two people."

Arthur pondered for a moment and approved the suggestion.

Looking at the entire Mist Town, perhaps only this hermit in front of him could decipher that ancient book, so worrying that he would steal the ancient book was superfluous.

Moreover, he was right; he was a criminal, just like the priest who was about to be convicted and exiled.

If such a person stayed by his side, it would inevitably draw criticism from Joshua's faction.

"Is your cabin safe?" Arthur asked, "I heard that Beastkin have been wandering near the town recently."

Brussian nodded: "I have friends in the forest, they will warn me in advance."

"So, you are a Druid?"

"You could say that, Sir.

"Seven years ago, a brother from the Society guided me onto this path, but my training is incomplete.

"My brothers, they have all died at the hands of the Dark Lord and his minions."

"I'm sorry to hear that. Did they teach you Celestial?"

Arthur asked in Druidic.

Brussian paused for a moment, then replied in Druidic, "No, brother, they left me a large amount of knowledge and secrets before they left.

"They thought it was most suitable for me to guard these.

"I spent several years studying, and I learned Celestial during that time.

"I can't guarantee a hundred percent accurate interpretation, but I will do my best."

Arthur thanked him and then asked, "May I ask why you want to help me?

"We are strangers, yet you seem to trust me greatly."

"I occasionally consult the Granny in the forest."

Upon hearing this, Arthur smiled knowingly.

"One more thing, Sir, the moon gave me a revelation."

A Druid of the Moon Society.

Arthur thought to himself, this is a good ally.

"Do you have any clues regarding the Sheriff's murder?"

Brussian shook his head and replied, "That night, I was outside the town killing undead, so I know very little about what happened in town.

"However, I did see some Beastkin.

"Perhaps, you could go to Oak Lake; some Beastkin have arrived there recently.

"I observed them for a while, and they don't seem to have any ill intentions."

"Alright, I'll go," Arthur replied.

After learning that Brussian's cabin contained a lot of ancient knowledge and secrets, Old Joe volunteered to follow the Druid to the cabin in the forest.

This saved Arthur the trouble of carefully selecting accompanying personnel.

As night fell, Arthur prepared to deal with the Sheriff's affairs.
