217: Eliminate threats

Chapter 214 Eliminating the Threat

No sooner had Rage Claw finished speaking than the woman interjected, "We should have only attacked the convoy, not fixated on the Baron."

"Didn't you notice? The convoy and the Baron departed on the same day, allowing us to kill two birds with one stone."

"Do you really think there could be such a coincidence in this world?"

Rage Claw looked at the woman coldly. "Your raven brought the intelligence, so are you doubting them?"

"If the intelligence is wrong, then what use are you to me?"

"What you should be asking is whether the spy you planted is still loyal to you," the woman retorted, meeting his gaze without backing down.

Rage Claw flew into a rage and lunged at the woman with his claws, but his attack stopped midway.

"Eugene is my brother; he would never betray me," he gritted out.

The woman sneered, "Then why don't you kill me?"

"Hmm? You know very well in your heart that there aren't that many coincidences in this world."

"Don't let anger cloud your judgment."

Rage Claw slowly retracted his claws, his gaze fixed in the direction the convoy was approaching, lost in thought.

He completely failed to notice that the tiny Pixie had already quietly flown away.

After a long while, the leader of the Black Blood People finally made a decision.

He was about to tell the strong man to notify the team to retreat when he suddenly heard the distant sound of hooves and carriage wheels.

The sound seemed to possess magic, instantly overwhelming all his hesitation.

The scout in the tree blew a few whistles mimicking bird calls.

This was the signal that the convoy was about to approach.

"Get ready, hunt with me!" Rage Claw's eyes rekindled with murderous intent, and he said with a sinister grin.

On the other side, Xiao Lingdang had already told Duke Wild Dog all about the enemy's deployment.

Compared to Rage Claw, this equally tall Beastkin seemed much more amiable.

Even his name was as interesting as a carnival character. "Everyone, get ready," Duke Wild Dog commanded those around him. "We will attack after the first wave of engagement begins."

The convoy gradually entered the ambush zone.

Rage Claw narrowed his eyes, observing carefully.

As the intelligence from Eugene had reported, the Night Outcasts had indeed strengthened their guard.

But this defense was far from enough.

They would never have imagined that this time, their sworn enemies had almost come out in full force.

The battle officially began with a crossbow bolt from the scout.

The Beastkin let out roars, charging out of the bushes like a pack of hungry beasts.

No one noticed that the first crossbow bolt fired had missed any target entirely.

The coachman driving the carriage blocked the arrow with his bare hands.

Jessica swung her sword, severing the arm of a Beastkin charging at her, then slammed a warhammer into its skull.

The roars of the pure-blooded Beastkin constantly stimulated the "beast" lurking within him.

But at this moment, he could still maintain his clarity, at least for now.

He quickly directed the convoy members to organize an effective defense, fending off the enemy's first assault.

Arthur, accompanied by two guards, also joined the fray.

A soft halo of light suddenly appeared above his head, enveloping everyone in the convoy.

This was the third-level spell, "Aura of Vitality."

As long as the aura persisted, Arthur could instantly heal any injured creature within its range.

Rage Claw quickly realized he had fallen into an ambush.

He let out an angry roar and, under the cover of his companions, charged straight towards Arthur.

Philip and Drax immediately stepped forward to block him.

Rage Claw first deftly dodged the orc's axe, then swatted away the Water Thief with a claw;

He tried to leap up but was struck hard in the waist by a bludgeon.

The werewolf quickly jumped aside, tearing open the chest of a Night Outcast with his sharp claws.

The smell of blood made him even more excited, and he let out a hunter's roar, throwing his head back.

The surrounding Black Blood People immediately echoed him, and their offensive became even more ferocious.

Jessica felt a throbbing pain in her head, her consciousness seemed to be fading, and a bloodthirsty craving surged in her heart.

Just then, Duke Wild Dog finally led his kinsmen into the battle.

As a result, even with the Black Blood People strengthened by the Blood Roar, the battle quickly became one-sided.

Rage Claw killed many enemies, but he soon realized it was all in vain.

Before the Baron's powerful magic, the damage he inflicted would be instantly healed.

And he himself was tightly entangled by the Orc, Philip, and Jessica.

If it were a one-on-one fight, none of these three would be his match.

That human was vulnerable in his eyes, though the Orc had some skill.

As for the half-blood, his mind had long been affected by the Blood Roar, and his threat was greatly reduced.

Rage Claw quickly assessed the battle situation.

Defeat was inevitable, but his kinsmen would never retreat.

Under the influence of Mara, they would all fight to the last moment.

But he was different; as the "Great Spokesperson" of the God of Hunting, he absolutely could not die here.

Although a shocking wound had been gashed across his back, and his thigh was bleeding, and the dull pain in his waist affected his movements, he still did not give up the thought of survival.

In two breaths, he repelled the attackers in front of him.

But in the next breath, he saw his brother torn apart by Duke Wild Dog.

This damned mongrel, this vile heretic—one day, he would make him pay!

Rage Claw roared internally, turning his head and leaping towards the forest.

He tried to use the dense trees to conceal himself, but he quickly found that the enemies had already surrounded them.

The soldiers of Mist Town, led by Grey and Ruby, had blocked his escape route.

"You murdered Dimitri and infected my son, monster!" Grey roared, "Today is your death day!"

Rage Claw grinned, giving up the thought of survival; his reason was receding, and the desire for slaughter consumed his entire body.

The battle quickly drew to a close.

Rage Claw died; in the end, he couldn't kill anyone else.

Arthur's divine magic saved the dying soldiers.

He himself died under the combined attack of Duke Wild Dog and Drax.

The remaining Black Blood People were also completely annihilated.

These individuals had lost their ability to communicate and were completely consumed by frenzied slaughter.

Even with Arthur providing divine healing throughout, casualties could not be entirely avoided.

Mist Town lost seven soldiers, while the Night Outcasts lost twelve.

Young Baron Arthur could not imagine how heavy the casualties would have been without healing magic in this battle.

Nevertheless, everyone's morale remained high; the soldiers of Mist Town loudly shouted Arthur's name, thanking their lord for once again leading them to victory.

Without time for mourning or celebration, Arthur left the cleanup work to others.

He returned to town in a covered wagon, as he had other official duties to attend to.
