204: People of Darkness

Chapter 201: People of Darkness

"If I had a choice, I would never come to your filthy place," the female vampire responded to the voice.

Something slowly emerged from the other corner of the room.

It was a tall old woman, a head and a half taller than the slender female vampire before her.

Her long, withered hand gripped a staff; each time the wooden staff struck the ground, it embedded itself deeply into the soil.

She moved clumsily and stiffly, walking step by step towards the female vampire.

"I tell you, I only pledge allegiance to one person," the old woman said.

"The great monarch has fallen into a deep slumber," Elizabeth emphasized, "and you still haven't found a way to awaken him."

The old woman's dark eyes gazed at the vampire, a hint of madness flickering deep within her pupils.

She wore a mask made of stitched human skin, completely covering the upper half of her face.

Only her lips and sharp chin were visible.

Her mouth looked no different from a human's, until the black lips parted to reveal hundreds of razor-sharp teeth.

"You are nothing but a lowly whore," the Granny sneered, her voice seemingly carrying a beast's growl, "and I am his Mother."

"I can ensure that the first thing he does when he wakes up is to kill you."

The female vampire raised an eyebrow; the ugly Granny before her made her very uncomfortable, whether it was her disgusting appearance or the decaying smell that permeated the cottage.

But now, she had to be humble.

Bathsheba was not only the Dark Lord's guide but also the most important woman in his life.

She had fed Marcus with her wicked mother's milk.

Planting the seeds of darkness in his young heart.

Besides that, she was also the leader of the Throne Seer.

She was the one she desperately needed to win over now.

"You and I both know that we have a responsibility to protect his territory before the Dark Lord awakens."

"Heh heh heh—" The Granny laughed as she walked to the cauldron, "Are you afraid?

"Is it because of the awakened beast?

"Or those gushing holy powers?

"You should indeed be afraid, because your pathetic experience cannot comprehend it."

"We have already lost Mist Town," Elizabeth ignored the other party's taunt, "and we are very likely to lose the Plantation.

"We must find a way to counter that power."

The Granny reached out and gently stroked the smaller ingredient.

The poor child twitched, whimpering in pain.

She extended her purple tongue, licked the blood on her hand, and showed a satisfied expression.

"Not us, but you, and your pathetic followers.

"Where is that clown Deacon? You can cooperate with him."

"That's the problem," Elizabeth said, "Ever since the monarch fell asleep, everything in Qingfeng Valley has fallen apart.

"The dark races are all fighting among themselves; I need your help to gather them."

The Granny heard this, "So this is why you came here. You pathetic whore.

"You want to use my prestige to help you re-gather the dark race.

"Why should I help you? Hmm? Just to preserve my son's land?

"What's important is never the land; as long as he can return, everything can be retaken.

"And I believe he would be happy to conquer this land once more."

Elizabeth sneered inwardly, *He never considered you a true Mother. You fool.*

*You are just a perfectly idiotic wet nurse.*

"There are rumors that an emissary of Mother Earth is in Mist Town.

"And all this chaos is caused by him."

The Granny laughed again, "How many people claiming to be emissaries have come here over the years?

"What was their ultimate fate?"

"He is also the new Baron of Qingfeng Valley and can guide that divine power."

"So you're afraid. Because he can guide this bit of divine power?"

"I am not afraid; I am worried that the monarch's remains will be destroyed by that power."

"How dare you!" the Granny shrieked, "To dare to question your master.

"The very foundation of your existence is because of him.

"If you are worried, then guard his body well.

"Until I find a way to bring him back."

"That's why I need to gather the dark races," the female vampire tried to suppress her inner anger, "My people alone can hardly resist him.

"I've seen him; I've seen what power he possesses.

"The sickening power of Mother Earth flows within him.

"Beasts follow by his side."

"Foolishness," the Granny sighed, "He's just bluffing.

You could have killed them that night.

"The reason you didn't was because of that clown Deacon.

"You were worried he would ambush you.

"You filthy, lowly creatures, you will never know how to cooperate.

"That's why I want to help you.

"You will never understand cooperation."

"What about the monarch's body?"

"Don't worry, I will personally take my son and leave here.

"Once everything is ready, we can return again."

Elizabeth seemed to have anticipated all of this.

She suppressed the urge to vomit and bowed to the grotesque, twisted being before her.

"That way, you will spend even more time.

"Why not let me try?

"I realized the mistakes I made.

"I am working hard to make amends for all of this.

"Help me re-unite the dark races, and we can clear out these invaders.

"Just like before, and then, I will relinquish all power.

"You will have a team that listens only to you."

"Do you think I'm naive enough to believe your nonsense?"

Elizabeth respectfully said, "I am willing to take your poison.

"You can have my loyalty."

"Even so," the Granny said, "I don't believe in your abilities.

"You can't even come close to my son, and you completely fail to convince those people."

"Do you have a better option?" the female vampire asked, "Your poison, combined with my fangs.

"We can succeed."

The Granny cackled, and amidst her laughter, countless crows flew in from outside.

She extended one hand, spreading her long, slender fingers, palm upwards.

With her other hand, she used her sharp claws to slice across her pale palm.

Dark, dull blood welled up from the wound.

Immediately after, she snatched a crow from the swirling flock.

The bird struggled back and forth, its claws and beak constantly scratching, but to no avail.

The Granny flipped the crow onto its side, covering its face with her injured palm, letting crimson blood drip into the crow's eye.

The effect was immediate. The crow's round black eye blinked, turning blood red.

A black slit appeared in the eyeball, like a snake's pupil.

The flesh around the eye twitched and peeled away.

The crow writhed and struggled in pain, while its companions watched indifferently.

That eye began to swell, growing larger and larger, oozing pus, until half of its head was occupied by a pulsating red demonic eye.

It blinked, and the Granny narrowed her eyes; the swollen red eye also narrowed in response.

The bird was tossed back into the air, clumsily flapping its wings through the tangled rafters overhead, searching for the skylight to escape.

The Granny grabbed another bird.

As a streak of red morning light illuminated the land, a dozen black birds flew west.

Once they left the forest, they scattered in different directions, searching the land below.

The Granny scanned everything they saw, licking her lips, full of anticipation.

"Go, my children, go! Gather all those creatures of darkness!"
