177: Dinner with the Princess

Chapter 175: Dinner with the Princess

After listening to Arthur, Airo couldn't help but exclaim in wonder.

She truly couldn't imagine how fierce that battle against the Undead had been.

Nor had she ever expected Arthur to establish himself so quickly in Mist Town.

And judging by the local residents' attitude towards him, he was clearly quite respected by everyone.

"I never thought Dimitri would die in such a way," Airo sighed. "He was a good mayor, and an even more respectable leader.

"By the way, are his two children safe?"

"The Verochi siblings are doing well," Arthur replied. "I was just about to have you work with them on something."

With that, he fully informed Airo about the reconnaissance of the Plantation.

The female rogue listened, then pondered for a moment before looking up and responding, "That's no problem.

"Ismark, Heir, and I are already friends. Leave this matter to us."

As soon as she finished speaking, Airo raised the Holy Radiance in her hand and asked Arthur, "The reason I can move freely in and out of here is because of that demigod, right?"

Arthur nodded and replied, "That's right. You only need to carry this Holy Radiance, and you won't be scorched by the power of the earth veins.

"And I've already had a few extra ones made. You can take them all with you when you go on reconnaissance.

"The power of the earth veins contained within the Holy Radiance can dispel Undead."

"That's a good item."

Airo carefully put the Holy Radiance into her embrace.

Afterward, Arthur led Airo to the Mayor's residence.

The Verochi siblings had already been waiting at the door for a long time.

"Oh my goodness, Airo, it's really you!"

Ismark excitedly came forward and gave Airo a big hug.

Heir also smiled from the side, "Welcome back, old friend!"

"It seems I don't need to introduce you much," Arthur joked from the side.

The Verochi siblings then bowed to Arthur.

Ismark said somewhat sheepishly, "I apologize, my Lord, I was too excited.

"Heir had already guessed you would send Airo, but I refused to believe it."

"You two have a good reunion. I still have some matters to attend to, so I'll take my leave first," Arthur said, excusing himself.

"Won't you stay for dinner before you go?" Heir asked.

Arthur waved his hand and said with a smile, "No, I already have an appointment tonight."

Dinner with the Pixie Princess was held in the study.

Unsure of these little ones' dietary preferences and unfamiliar with the etiquette of their royal family, Arthur prepared a decent banquet according to the standards for receiving VIPs in Amn.

Aside from the Princess herself, her retinue also attended the banquet.

Xiao Lingdang was among them. She was permitted to stand by the Princess's side, serving as her sword-bearer.

This Princess, named Obella, was different from all other Pixies.

She wore a magnificent crown woven from golden leaves and a deep blue, form-fitting gown adorned with exquisite golden patterns.

Her skin was a faint golden yellow, and the wings on her back were translucent, shimmering with vibrant colors in the candlelight.

Arthur performed a standard royal bow to the Princess, but she chuckled.

The Princess slowly flew in front of Arthur, laughing as she said, "There's no need for such formality, Sir Arthur.

I've never been one for such elaborate rituals, though my mother always scolds me for it. If you don't mind, may my attendants begin enjoying the feast?"

Arthur nodded, indicating he had no objection.

Immediately after, he saw the attendants each take out appropriate cutlery.

He was about to step forward to help uncork the wine bottle, but the Princess gestured for him not to bother.

The next second, he saw the cork pop open on its own with the help of magic, and the fine wine flowed from the bottle.

Then, the Pixies began to fully enjoy the wine and delicacies on the table.

"I think I must first express my gratitude to you, Sir Arthur," the Princess began. "Xiao Lingdang has told me all about your heroic deeds.

"Without your help, I fear I would have been trapped in that place for a very long time."

"You are far too kind, Your Royal Highness," Arthur gave the most official response. "As a priest of Mother Earth, it is my duty to guide lost souls back to the right path."

"Even so, I must repay you." The Princess gently clapped her hands.

An attendant immediately flew before Arthur, carrying a box.

The Princess personally opened the box, took out a cloak from inside, and said, "This cloak can make you invisible. Consider it my repayment for saving my life."

Arthur respectfully accepted the cloak.

Just as he was wondering how to use this very small cloak, it suddenly grew larger.

"It automatically adapts to the wearer's size," the Princess explained. "Of course, this is still far from enough to repay your kindness.

"So I plan to have Xiao Lingdang stay by your side.

"If you ever encounter trouble in the future, you can send her to find me at any time, and I will surely come to your aid."

Arthur thanked the Princess.

Then he laughed, "That doesn't sound like a thank you a Princess would give.

"It sounds more like a ranger's promise."

Obella also laughed at his words and replied, "Ah, Sir Arthur, as you can see, I am a swordswoman.

I travel through various worlds year-round, only to find worthy opponents to fight.

This is already the best reward I can offer.

If you are not satisfied, you can make other requests, and I will do my best to fulfill them."

"No, this is enough," Arthur said. "Nothing compares to the friendship I've formed with you."

"Your words are so sweet. You must be very popular with girls, aren't you?

No wonder Xiao Lingdang always mentions you to me."

Xiao Lingdang, standing nearby, immediately blushed and hastily explained, "N-no, that's not it, Your Royal Highness!

I was just—just reporting the situation to you—"

"Alright, alright, I was just joking," the Princess gently comforted her.

At this moment, Arthur finally witnessed the Pixies' prank-loving nature.

After exchanging pleasantries, the Princess and Arthur sat down to dine together.

During the meal, Arthur consulted the Princess on many matters concerning the Feywild.

This Princess was not only very talkative but also extremely knowledgeable.

She knew everything about her homeland like the back of her hand and had considerable research on matters of other planes.

However, the conversation eventually inevitably circled back to that haunted house.

While lamenting her impulsiveness back then, the Princess also asked Arthur about the king in yellow.

"I've traveled through so many worlds, and I've never seen such strange power," she said with a serious expression. "Sir Arthur, do you know anything about this power?"

Arthur hesitated for a moment, then finally replied, "Your Royal Highness, my advice is not to learn about it."

"Oh? Why is that?"

"How should I explain it to you?"

Arthur fell into thought, "Those terrifying existences can pollute the minds of living beings.

The more you understand them, the closer you get to madness."

Seeing Arthur speak so solemnly, the Princess did not press further.

She uncharacteristically set aside her curiosity and shifted the topic to other matters.

And so, the banquet proceeded smoothly amidst laughter and joy.

It wasn't until late into the night that the banquet finally concluded.

The Princess led her attendants in bidding farewell to Arthur.

Before leaving, she flew in front of Arthur and kissed his forehead.

"Farewell, my friend," she said, then used her sword, which resembled a brass key, to open a rift.

The Princess and her attendants flew into the rift, heading to the next world to continue their adventure.
